have to pile on to Gelman-ic (fooled ya) tone here. Besser directing Gelman and Gelman just tearing it up, holy shit. I was sitting in a full kinda old timey diner at the end of the counter while listening to that scene. I had to turn around and bite my lip so no one would notice me crying and laughing for no discernible reason.
Â
I cant think of another instance of Besser directing one improviser for as long as he did here. guys anything like this pop to mind?
Â
there just is such a scarcity of Brett Gelman on Earwolf lately. and that sucks cause there can never really be enough Brett Gelman.
Â
Yeah that was almost like the I4H version of Whiplash.
Â
With the loss of Gelmania I kinda forgot how when Brett Gelman is "on" he can just dig and dig and dig like a mad man yet find his way out to tie it all up.
Â
Add in a Gemberling and magic happens.

Move it into the studio? This is already one of the best and most highly-produced podcasts I listen to. What would they gain moving into the earwolf studio? The production value is already super high for a podcast.
Â
It's all about Chad, baby. Wish the show the best of luck.
Â
Sorry but the levels are all over, and most of the time the background music isn't properly ducked. I never have problem hearing people in shows with background music like spont, utu2tm, analyze phish, etc that have dedicated engineers.
Â
Let Chad be full time co-host, he's more valuable that way.

I subscribe to Never Not Funny. Its a great deal. 3-4 hours of video entertainment every week. I love it. I would love if Hooray Show went video. Those VPN Earwolf shows were great. Its stupid that a Who Charted?, improv4humans, or Comedy Bang Bang! doesn't have video options.
Â
#1 -- Video bandwidth costs a fortune. Even low bitrate podcast aac/mp3 costs a fortune for someone earwolf's size throu akami or whoever.
Â
#2 -- Editing. Earwolf would need an entire floor of video editors/final cut bays. Not to mention all the encoding and backup. Look at what twit has had to do.

This troubles me. So many shows leave quality networks and fade away. Particularly sad because while I love the HOORAY (show), I feel like it hasn't even found it's groove yet.
Â
And to be honest, I wish they did do it in the studio. I know they can't smoke or whatever, and maybe some people just won't go to earwolf for a session, I get that. But the non studio shows are always less produced and with varying sound qualities week to week.
Â
I was happy PFT brought his show to earwolf. Recording quality has been 100% reliable since.
Â
Maybe I'm just picky, but even if the content is good I can't tough through people being off mic or background noise.
Â
Looking forward to the unreleased shows.
Â
I was hoping the announcement was going to be Chad becoming the official co-host, and the two moving into earwolf proper and letting engineers handle things.

I love the occasional solo Besser radio hour.

CHanks is usually decently amusing in the interview section of CBB and the like. But he was on fire here. First time I've heard him be laugh out loud funny like that.

I too have nothing else to add. Why are we saying this?

As much as I like and respect Matt, (and agree with his politics) these case closed episodes always leave me a little disappointed in him.

Jerry Minor makes everything ok. He's the spiritual leader of the hooray show.

Brendan cracking himself up with the show idea and "clomp clomp" killed me.

Seriously? Have you listened to U Talking U2 To Me? because I didn't really notice it until listening to that. When all the talking sounds like the same damn voice it hits you quick
Â
You guys should do an episode with Adam Scott, Jeremy Konnor, and David Wain, so that it's never obvious who's talking. (I don't actually think Scott and Scott sound that similar although others have said they do. But I was sure the guy talking at the beginning was David Wain and then Scott intro'ed him as a director, which made the swerve even swervier.) In fact, not having David on this episode was a missed opportunity, considering he's also on Another Period.
Â
Also, I don't have a smart phone but I'd love a smone that's farter.
Â
I think a big part of it is when it's just the two of them their cadences/deliveries get really similar. You use that as a clue to who's speaking in addition to actual voice quality.

My favorite David Wain character so far.

on my third listen, keeps getting better

I don't think I've ever heard a better song that doesn't exist.
Â
Anybody else think that somebody on the cast saw Blue Velvet recently? The whole "candy colored clown" part of the In Dreams song seemed to be what they were drawing from.
Â
that and someone said blue velvet before that

Someone tell Horatio that her name is caitlyn jenner, not bruce.

On my third listen. Such a grep. But I think somebody like Cameron Esposito could have added something.

After listening to it again, is Scott confusing Mike the Janitor and the Ghost of Richard Harrow when he mentioned keeping up with pyramid news? The only time I remember pyramid news being mentioned was when Ghost of Richard Harrow was talking about pyramid news where Bret Michaels had all the drunk women build him a pyramid in the yard.
Â
Â
Well, Zouks was also on that ep. Texter also happened that ep if memory serves.

Wow. Grepisode. So many things to talk about.
Â
1. When Gabrus/Gaylax said "i try to remember flat chested broads have vaginas too" and Besser broke character to give him a dad-like "alright...". Besser has talked before about being a little embarrassed in front of musical heroes when the scenes get very blue, so Gabrus out of the gate with that was LOL.
Â
2. I loved how aggressive and not afraid to go blue Ms. Holland's Opus was this episode. Her characters are usually pretty reserved in a polite southern way. I assume the influence of Gabrus brought it out.
Â
3. Gabrus, the self proclaimed overweight stoner swears up and down that he doesn't eat candy, then his first improv song is "candy colored/covered dreams" lol.
Â
4. IMO, Eug delivered the most overlooked line of the ep.
While talking about MHO's tattoo:
Besser: It looks like it fell down
Eug: Like if she had a full salad on her shoulder?

Mike the janitor picking up the crumpled up heynong man note was lol. The idea of PFT sitting there trying to think of how Mike can get in on the heynong man as quickly as possible delights me.

German and English are not the same thing
Â
they're actually very similar. germanic languages and whatnot.

I must assume that you have heard the SV ep. of CBB~ sadly no Zach but Middleditch kills it improvwise on that episode...
Â
Â
Yes, in fact I'm going to go re-listen.

Zach delivered a real snappy winner with the definition of Brothel - a fraternal relationship
So quick, wish Zach could make it on the show more often. Likely busy with SV.
Â
Â
This just gave me an idea: Silicon Valley ep of I4H!
Â
Middleditch + Woods + some combo of Kumail/Star/Miller

Damn good ep. It feels like forever since Zach's been on. Dude is hilarious. Ian seemed confused by every aspect of the show, which was also incredibly funny.
Â
Â
Yeah what was up with that...he's a founding UCB member, been on the show plenty of times...
Â
I went between laughing like it was a bit to kind of being worried.

saddlebags, buddy i say this with the best of intentions - you're not taking into account Besser's entire point; they are ALL APES. that's why what that dude says is fucked. you taking trash on people in annoyance or iO or 2nd City or any other improv school is the same behavior Besser is saying is unhealthy. apes only fight if they have to bro. and it's not our fight as fans. also this is Hooray Show forum, it's a happy place.
Â
I wasn't fighting. Pointing out that they are proven habitual linesteppers is merely stating the facts.
Â
Chad: My post was in response to the complaining about the ep in post #2. I forgot to quote it.
EPISODE 35 - Matt Besser: Turing Tests with Caleb Smith
in With Special Guest Lauren Lapkus

Also I felt like besser mentioning her hip and neck movements (if she was really doing them) was maybe Lauren hinting at the Chuck E. Cheese animatronic band? Besser may not get that ref.
