I also thought KB was in her attic for about half of the movie and I couldn’t figure out why she didn’t just give an address. Then I thought she was in on it. I definitely thought the husband HAD to be a bad guy. Nope, everyone is good except 99% of the police force, apparently.

re: the idea that Kim Basinger or her husband would be involved in the crime and yet they turned out to be totally innocent, the original script did call for Kim's character to be involved.

Larry Cohen, screenwriter of the 2002 thriller film Phone Booth, conceived of Cellular while working for Sony Pictures. It followed a 30- or 40-year-old man named Theo Novak who obtains a call from a woman named Lenore, who tells him that she and her husband have been abducted in a safehouse by a group of bank robbers. It is then revealed that Novak is an art thief who becomes wracked with guilt after unsuccessfully rescuing a friend from committing suicide in the past; he agrees to make a detour from a criminal undertaking and rescue Lenore. During the rescue Novak is unsuccessful, but later discovers a conspiracy involving Lenore and her accomplices over another crime they are involved with—ultimately, Novak gains the upper hand, killing Lenore and her accomplices and obtains their loot in the process, which leaves him therefore a wealthy man.

Fast & Furious writer Chris Morgan was brought on by Dean Devlin to rewrite the script. Morgan wanted to tell a story of a normal person who does something heroic, but he also wanted to incorporate humor, specifically humor similar to that in Indiana Jones.

"I'm a big fan of situational humor and I feel like comedy plays best when it's the right thing at the right time and not just somebody trying to make a joke. For example, in Raiders of the Lost Ark when Indiana Jones is faced with fighting the swordsman and he just pulls out a gun and shoots him. That’s not really a joke, but it got a huge laugh. That's the kind of humor we tried to work."

Also, re: LORD OF THE RINGS, Return of the King came out in December of 2003 and won Best Picture a couple of months later. Fellowship Of The Ring came out in 2001.

I was hoping Kim Basinger was going to be the involved ala The Usual Suspects or Wild Things.  Why did I think this?  Because Kim Basinger's is supposed to be a teacher?  I have never seen a teacher wear fish net stockings.  Dead giveaway!

Also When Jason Statham puts his belt around Kim Basinger he never actually strangled her with it.  She freaked out but he never choked her.  I was confused why he gave up so quickly on torturing her and moved onto plan B of kidnapping Ricky Martin.

  2. Speaking of this guy and his henchmen - if they were wanting to secure an endorsement deal with a winner of the Hellrace, why didn't they just wait until after the race was over and then propose it to the guy who won? Why did they have find the person first and then make sure they win the race? It didn't make sense to me.

BMX racing was too big so the winner would not be affordable to the guy and his henchmen. They did mention Coke as a sponsor so this guy did not want to get gouged from the hell track winner.

  3. In the beginning of this movie the boys are going on the paper route. Besides the issue of 1. the main character lands on a station wagon and the mom cannot tell the difference between obnoxious kids and a bike crashing on her hood (which would leave a dent!) 2. the fact that you can have a paper delivery sent to my boat. But to me the most disturbing thing is 3. the firefighters are getting a paper while on a call. If I lived in that town i would move ASAP. I can imagine the firefighters on scene of a house fire but not doing anything until they read the paper. Where are their priorities that a paper has to be obtained before going to a fire? Do they have to stop and get coffee on the way to the fire as well?

  4. I just want to point out this is another movie i remember seeing as a child, not only seeing but when i saw the trailer thinking it looked good and could not wait to see it. Once again Jason and Paul point out how bad my taste in movies was as a kid. Other movies i liked as a kid they have destroyed include:

    Sleepaway Camp

    The Running Man

Mac and Me (although this one i saw in school)

    Superman 3 & 4

    Batman & Robin

    Nothing But Trouble

    Halloween III

    and Mortal Kombat.

Please do not ever have an episode for the original Terminator!

PS this is my favorite podcast!

  5. My absolutely favorite scene was the Three Wise Monkey's scene. From him asking four armed vampires if they can kill him, to not spilling a drop of coffee from his futuristic martini-glass-cup, to they guy shot in the ear somehow falling down dead, this scene played like a microcosm of all the problems in the movie: it didn't make any sense; it was over the top; it was poorly executed (how many times is the coffee level going to change in that cup?!); it didn't drive the plot; it was overtly symbolic (though I don't know what the symbol had to do with the theme of the movie); and it was thoroughly confusing!

I'm not recommending this movie to anyone, but everyone should take a minute to appreciate that scene!

I thought about this and i did not catch the see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil reference. I was too busy trying to see bullet holes that were not there, confusing is an understatement. This movie is rated R and has almost no blood, very odd.

  6. Here's my biggest problem with the opening scene. So they hire this courier to deliver their top secret super important child in a box. Why? They run all these test on the courier to be sure that they aren't a hemophage but at the end of the day they are the dictatorship in charge of the nation. They have numerous giant buildings full of hundreds if not thousands of staff members. They have a whole robot army in both black and white armor. You mean to tell me that they don't have one trusted already vetted employee who they know beyond a shadow of a doubt is uninfected and loyal that could act as a courier? Why are they hiring an outside party to handle such an important and delicate package? If it is a timing issue, did they forget they are the ones in charge? They can close train lines or roads. They can have an armored convoy on blocked streets. It shouldn't be so hard.

You forgot that if she can pass through all those tests and then get the package, what were the vampire/hemo-whatever's doing all his time. They already possessed the capabilities to destroy the ministry and all inside. This movie is really V just toying with the ministry and Daxis.

Either in the episode or corrections and omissions someone said that the director alluded to Six possibly being form another dimension or future and could be UltraVoilet. I finally watched this movie tonight, free on MS Store!, and i see one hint at that. the kid is called Six and Ultra Voilet is called V by the Six. V is roman numeral 5, so is she also a clone of Daxis?

  7. this is the sequel to Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and i believe it is still played every year. I have no idea why they play it, it is very bad. It is considered a TV movie so no arguing it is a show.

A year after delivering Christmas presents, Santa Claus receives a letter from his friend Father Time asking for help to find Happy the Baby New Year before midnight on New Year's Eve, or else it will be December 31 forever. Santa sends Rudolph out to find him. An evil vulture called Eon the Terrible is supposed to live for exactly one Eon after which he will turn into ice and snow and disintegrate. As his particular Eon will end January 1 of the New Year, he plans to kidnap Happy to keep the year from ending and stop time, thus preventing his predestined death

even though i suffered through a lot of bad shows with my kids this is one of the worst. I know it will not make the 2017 christmas season but hopefully by 2018 we can suffer through this piss poor performance perpetuated by capital greed.

  8. Also where does "Passing Paul on the street and yelling his name only for him not to hear you and all your friends then go 'Who?'" stand?

If Paul did hear you and replied that would be one point but in your scenario i would give you 2 points.

  9. I think this movie is even too bad for the show. What could you say about it? There isn't enough plot to even discuss.

They can discuss the opening credits and how this is a perfect example of why you want to high frame rate TV instead of a 60Hz TV. That is the only thing i remember about this absurd movie.
