  1. No, no. They must revisit this. "The only movie so bad, we gave up a half hour into our first attempt at watching it..."

This piece of shit was nominated for best picture, whatever weight that still carries, and it barely lost. A lot of experts were picking it to win and the people who made it sat in their tuxedos and gowns and sweated it out until the last moment, thinking they had a real shot at it, and they probably did.

I'd like to see them do this, and I'd like to see them do "Crash", which actually won Best Picture. I know that's not what the show normally does. I want a steady diet of Gooby's and "Mac and Me's" 99 percent of the time, but there are a handful of really bad, problematic films that have been nominated for best picture.

Scott Aukerman himself wrote a great review of it not long after it came out: http://scottaukerman...a-2009-american

  2. Yeah you guys need to stick a cheap mic in the crowd as a stop gap measure. It's brutal.

I was thinking this is the WORST, coldest audience in the world, because you can hear just enough of them to give the allusion that they can be picked up well on audio, but that this great show is absolutely dying in front of them. But of course, that's not what happened at all. You can tell by what the performers are doing that they are getting something back from the audience, we just can't hear it.

  3. I want a June "director's commentary" where she listens to the podcast and gives her opinions.

    ...

God damn, what a fantastic idea. Someone ask June to do it. Best of all her having sat through Zardoz would not be in vein. Maybe just a little segment on the mini-ep if nothing else. Pretty please.

  4. Hey Everybody,

    Research Intern Nate here,

Just wanted to let you all know Corrections and Omissions from Both LOL threads have been included.

The Shit Dicks convo is too good to leave out!

Regarding corrections and omissions, is Paul mostly reading from a script that you produce after going through the discussion threads? If so, that's kind of a bummer. I know he's got better things to do, but I liked to think he was including what he personally found notable or funny.

  5. When Dolly finishes playing that first number on stage that runs over the opening credits, she addresses the crowd and says:

"I'm gonna take a little break now and get a drink of water and let the band change their shirts or whatever else is damp."

    What???

Jake's dad looks directly down at her tits and says, "Mercy, don't you look sassy?"

Great evidence of Matt's theory on Farnsworth not realizing or caring that he's in a movie.

  6. They did go to the concert, that much is for sure. Paul mentioned it on Who Charted? this week, in fact. Let's hope they get the episode out soon!

Yeah, Kulap mentioned that she was one of the people there. Should be good.

  7. The Glimmer Man is on Encore today, 9/3 at 5:20 pm (Central). It's on again at 12:15 am.

After that, the next showing on Encore is 9/12 3:50 PM CST. I guess I'll be watching this one a bit late, becaue that's the only chance in Hell of seeing this trash in HD at this point. Also, if you have Comcast, it doesn't seem to be available on Demand at this point either, at least in HD (did not check for the SD version).

I'm not "on the spectrum", I swear, but God damn it if something is available in HD, no matter how terrible it is, I have to see it in high def.

  8. If you, like me, were led to believe there would be a follow-up to this episode, Mr. Tompkins has apparently dispelled that notion on Twitter:

The clench remains, but the heart is broken.

Wait, you do know he's joking, right? The whole conceit is that the 3 of them watch the movie again and then come back to discuss it in a forthcoming episode.

  9. Saw more than one person on AV Club's podmass complaining that they haven't been able to find the playlist on youtube. I think the problem is that if you google for instance, "Fogelnest Files Youtube", it returns Jake's personal youtube channel as the top result, but the youtube account with the Fogelnest Files playlists doesn't show up on the first page of google's results. So a lot of people visit Jake's personal youtube channel, don't see it there, and just give up,

I almost did, and I'm only SORT OF an idot. If you're going to stick Fogelnest Files previews on that channel you might as well put a copy of the playlist there as well.

An alternative would be to link to the Fogelnest Files youtube channel in every episode description here. Which would likely in short order increase the search ranking of that particular page. But that's probably against some rule Earwolf has or you would have already done that for the sake of convenience.

  10. So, like Doug Benson, Howard is a couple of years older than his IMDB profile states. Bizarre how that works, if only the DOB's (presumably not provided by them) had been accurate in the first place, they wouldn't be evading the question at all. Truth is they are two of the funniest people around and no one gives a shit if they are 31 or 51.

    (They are both 52.)
