It's posts like this that really make me realize that humans are inherently good and that all is right in the world. Thanks! -

See. This I understand. It's like some people aren't even trying. For the record, I would have also accepted coffee, aircraft, software, or seafood-related references as well. -

Maybe I'm just not supposed to get it... You know. It's cool. You're just a failure at communicating. You know what? I forgive you for that. You're welcome. Maybe if you put it on a license plate or something? -

What? Spelled what wrong? Also, is it wrong that I still judge people with vanity plates? Or is it a takes a conceited asshole to know a conceited asshole sort of thing? Also, vanity plates may be worse than torturing kittens and are made from the bones of war dead but I am voluntarily paying more for our shared public infrastructure. You know, because I give a shit about the transportation needs of my fellow Washingtonians. Gimme a break because it's really fucking hard being this goddamn selfless sometimes... So put that in your conceited pipe and smoke it motherfucker. For the record, not bragging, just showing that I'm super awesome and self-promotional. On my CV it says I'm a self-starter. This is a good example. Love you, bye. -
I mean, I think the demographics of MTV have shifted younger and more heavily female. That definitely has affected their casting decisions. It is a business...

You sure you weren't in Vancouver? Heroine is more their thing... You're right though, even though I don't understand your anecdote, it does bring us closer together. I think? -

About the Real World: My favorite cast member is Thomas, because he seems the most comfortable with himself and therefore the least annoying. Also, I think we're quite similar. Arielle seems cool, too. Another thing, are the girls they find for the show representative of girls in their 20s writ large? I mean, I get that they find people with exaggerated personalities and stuff, but the glaring insecurities and need to fit in to a social group is so obnoxious. And yet, I feel like most 20-something girls are often nightmarish like this as well. Not all, of course. But certainly a lot of them. Can anyone speak on this? I can only conclude that it must be hard to be an authentic 20-something lady who blazes their own trail and kicks ass and doesn't take shit but is also super chill and not looking for a fight. I think the ladies of this forum have this figured out. Why are you so awesome? -

Anyone else watch the new Real World and love the shit out of it? PS - has anyone else played Cards Against Humanity? at a bar? With Air Force officers? And a black guy from Oregon (are unicorns real too?)? Because I did on Friday. It was awesome. PPS - I am regretting not jumping on that Seahawks bandwagon now. So much Seahawk victory celebration puss that I missed by going skiing instead. At least I imagine there would have been. There's really no way to be sure, is there? -

Yeah, Sean was good on Improv4hummus, but Dominic Dierkes, he's what makes it truly great. You know? If he had a podcast with Hayes Davenport... I think all of the wars in the world would immediately cease and all diseases would be cured. -

So I know you guys mainly go on this forum to hear me talk about Seattle, and this post will not disappoint. It's finally raining again!!!!!! This is a good thing because it means it will snow in the mountains and I will get to go skiing, which makes me happy. It also means that people will stop saying how fucking nice it is outside every goddamn day. I get it you fucking cunts! It's sunny. Stop fucking talking about it! Jesus Christ! I miss last year when we went 55 days without sun. That was nice. We also had the best ski season in years. That was fucking amazing. ...you know how some people have problems when it's rainy or cloudy for too long. I'm the opposite. Also if it's too warm. Also if people around me are happy about something that I'm not directly involved in or about to benefit from. That's the worst. That is all. PS - Something about the Seahawks and being good at sports and shit. I don't really care. Our teams always find a way to fuck it up for themselves. I'm not jumping on the bandwagon until I see results this time. I got burned with the Mariners when I was 10. Never again. This time I can drink if they succeed, though, so I guess that's an incentive to want them to succeed. Free alcohol is a surprisingly strong incentive. They never taught me that when I was getting my economics degree... Weird. -

It's such a dick move for those Cardinals to vote for Pope Attitude only to then treat him badly. I mean, if God compelled you to vote for him then you could at least treat him decently. It's not his fault God likes him more than any of you old geezers. I think that really shows the hypocrisy of the Roman Catholic Church and really motivates the viewer to demand change of their clergy. ...or to become Episcopalian. But maybe they'll make a sequel about the Teen Archbishop of Canterbury. ...or it just doesn't make any sense and reflects an utter lack of knowledge about the workings of the Roman Catholic Church. That could be possible as well. I bet it's the first one though. Hollywood people always do their research. And plus, Hollywood is like the conscience of America, you know. Always showing us what we should care about. Like Tibet. They were all over that shit. And look, now Tibet's free... Besides the authoritarian communist rule and the state-sponsored in-migration of hundreds of thousands of ethnic Han Chinese to outnumber and marginalize the locals. But besides that, Tibet is pretty much free! -

If I was a priest, I'd like to think I'd be as cool as Father Silvio. Also, interesting creative decision to let the Holy Father get married. Very progressive. -

Hey, streetcars are the shit. So that's something. Also, Cincinnati... Where is that in relation to Austin? Or is it closer to Brooklyn? I'm trying to figure out how far away it is from a place that actually matters. Google maps doesn't have it, so I'm just wondering. Sounds awful though. (JK Only, I love all cities.) Don't worry, Seattle isn't on Google maps either. It just says "173mi north of Portland. Pot's legal and some shit. But seriously, wouldn't you rather go to Portland?" You'd think they'd change that at some point though right? I typed in Houston and it just said "ewwww. But I guess there's kind of an art scene here or whatever." Seriously Google, stop judging our cities with your hipster techy agenda. Plus, Silicon Valley is shitty and full of shitty Silicon Valley people who can't shut up about the circlejerk of a startup they're doing. Fucking Fascists. In all seriousness: I love cities a lot. Studying them and their people and trying to figure out how to make them better is a thing I do quasi-professionally. I just wish people would spend more time making their own cities better and starting businesses and stuff where they're from rather than bum-rush wherever the forty-something cocaine-addict writer of the magazine article they read once upon a time got lucky and hooked up with a twenty-something with daddy issues and then decided to say that that place is the next best place for people to move. I mean, it's not bad to move, a lot of people do. Just make sure that you have respect for the people who were there first and don't forget where home is. Every place is different, that's a good thing. Everyone deserves to love where they live. Obviously it's more complicated but that's my idealistic spiel. -

Something to do with a Danish-Swedish rivalry and heavy drinking I think... -

HugLife, The terminology and general willingness to acknowledge and discuss race in your previous post made me very uncomfortable. Race is just too scary. Can't we talk about something lighter like class warfare or something? You know, something you'd hear about on NPR or PBS or at a liberal arts college or in Portland. Wait... Those things all have something in common... Not quite sure what it is though. Oh well. -

Freja, They do have good butter... Lego is cool too. Your monarchy is also more interesting, I completely agree. Also, I like that you defended Sweden on this forum. European country rivalries are super exciting to me. I don't know why. I'm Ulster-Scot, English, and German, so I don't really have a horse in this race. Although, I do have a red beard, so that means one of my ancestors was very probably some sort of Nordic invader who raped and pillaged Scotland. For the record, I tried to defend Sweden because Seattle has a long history of Swedish settlement and I am partial to Ikea and H&M. Nordstrom (the best department store) was founded by a Swede (obviously the name gives it away). I also like tall blonde girls, Sweden's primary export. I can only conclude that the Danes are bigots. Really cool bigots who I really want to be my friends very badly. But bigots nonetheless. Let's just all take comfort in the fact that whether you're a Swede or a Dane, at least you're not a Finn with their weird-ass made-up language. HugLife, Don't you think it's a little cute that they're trying sooo hard to be good at rapping? It's hilarious. Also, I get the feeling that expecting non-white people to be in a Scandinavian rap video is a high expectation... -

So I was at a friend's New Year's party and it was full of Danish people. They were very aggressive about ensuring that you were always drinking. They don't understand that Americans do dumb things when drinking, especially at a European level. All in all it was a very cultural experience. Also, they made a shit ton of jello shots... I still don't understand why. They also insisted that Sweden is terrible. I attempted to argue with them about the merits of Sweden and its people but they insisted that I was wrong about this and made clear that this was not a point they were willing to concede. Furthermore, they were obsessed with this song that will soon be lodged firmly in your brain: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_qO6z31dCI Essentially he's saying that he doesn't have any money but he still has ladies. So, yeah. Hooray Denmark? Even after this song, I still firmly believe that Scandinavians should not be allowed to rap as a general rule. PS - if anyone's fluent in Danish I would love a line by line translation. -

Freja. You just won. I'm not sure what the competition is but I am certain that you just won it.
