I'm glad it got cancelled from Comedy Central, it's not right for the channel, it would be MUCH better suited as a counter point to Fox News' "Red Eye", which is basically a more light hearted/comedic panel show which would feature comedians like Jim Norton, Rich Vos, Bonnie McFarlane (among others). It pretty much became victim of the influx of the satirical news show, because now you have The Daily Show, The Nightly Show, Last Week Tonight, Full Frontal, which all seem to be very similar. It became like Guitar Hero, the first couple were successful and then the market was flooded with them. So you had the Daily Show, and then the Nightly Show right after, they were too similar on the surface, and it ended up losing nearly 1,000,000 viewers from the time slot. Personally, I can see an iteration of it showing up on MTV, it's also owned by Viacom, and probably has a much more suitable audience.

For some reason, I just imagine a scene like in Friends when Joey got into a fight on the set of his new show called "Mac and CHEESE", and realised he was the one that was expendable. "Tommy! There was a time here where Super Nintendo cartridges were extortionate. I'm pretty sure I remember Super Street Fighter II coming out on the SNES and it was over £100.

One thing that's REALLY pissing me off is movie trailers using songs that aren't in the movie. Case in point, the Stallone movie "Bullet To The Head", they used the song "Killers" by Motorhead (RIP, Lemmy.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYPRyd9chlo Not one single note of this amazing song was used in the movie, I liked it as it was, but having Motorhead playing whilst Sly and Jason Mamoa were fighting with axes would have been awesome.

I liked that movie primarily because of how hot Aubrey Plaza was.

It's just an obsession for me at this point, loved everything MK for nearly 25 years now. That's why the second movie is fucked, because it's just a hodge-podge of three different games, and it gets all fucked up, to the point of the whole "Shao Kahn is my brother" thing... oh god I'm off on a rant again haha.

I am literally on the campaign trail for this movie, just for my own self indulgent C&O/Q&A nerd out that the thread would become.

I love Big Bang Theory, a few years ago I just watched the first 5 seasons back to back in DVD.

That's kinda what I touched upon with that thing I wrote. Because DC are so intent on "Dark and Gritty", they're forcing EVERYTHING into "Dark and Gritty", when Warner Bros have the Mortal Kombat Universe in their pocket, perhaps the ultimate in "Dark and Gritty" without needing to be all "Shades of Grey". You have the good, moral characters (Raiden, Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Kenshi, Sub-Zero, Sonya Blade, Jax, I can keep going), you have the straight up evil characters (Shao Kahn, Shang Tsung, Quan Chi etc.) and even the neutral characters nail their colours to the fence (Scorpion ultimately became one of the most important good guys, whereas others are neutral, but are for hire). Superman is an ultra, clean-cut, moral good guy, he doesn't need to be an anti-hero, and dark, he's bright and colourful with unwavering virtue, that's it.

Did this movie remind anybody else of that episode of South Park where Alec Baldwin signed up to that social media network that just broadcast his thoughts?

From what I've heard, a lot of their revenue comes from the soundalike series. Where they make shitty movies with similar sounding names to blockbusters, and put them on the on demand. So, they'll have "The Terminators", "Transmorphers", "Atlantic Rim". "Battle of Los Angeles", "11/11/11", and they pretty much conned people into thinking that they were some way connected to the big blockbusters, so they get it from on demand for a few dollars

Also, everyone should keep an eye out on the various streaming services for "Humans", it's British remake of the Swedish drama "Real Humans", it's an alternate reality where droid technology has become highly advanced, and are used as everyday service workers. It's outstanding

I also remember reading about how people reacted to Bruce Willis being cast in Die Hard. It was pretty much "What?! David Addison from Moonlighting is gonna fight terrorists? That guy?!" Which was made even worse considering that Die Hard was originally going to be Commando 2 starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.

I have a couple of Thai comedies starring Pechtai Wongkamlao, but it's the Jackie Chan style action comedy, like over the top parodies. But one of them got an uproarous laugh from me, and it was the stupidest thing I could have laughed at. Tony Jaa from Ong Bak has bit parts, and he does a short fight scene, and when Pechtai thanks him for helping him out, he calls him by the name he was in Ong Bak, and he just says "Wrong movie, asshole!", and I just cried laughing. But the sense of humour is so much different than the kind that I'm used to. That's why I think that's I the reason why asian "fight" movie translates so well in the west is because it's universal, here's one side, here's the other, they're gonna have a bundle, we'll see who wins. Like 13 Assassins, that is, without a shadow of a doubt, the single best fight scene I have ever seen in any movie, it's literally a 45 minute sword fight. People understand a 13-on-200 sword fight, whereas comedy is so subjective, and so varied around the world, what's funny in the US, isn't as funny in the UK, take the difference in both versions of the Office as a prime example of this. The original UK version is built heavily upon embarrassment and cringe, and the US is more about relationship dynamics, and both of those would probably be met with stone faces in the Asian market. But The Expendables, or Fast and Furious, there's no nuance to be lost there. Like the French movie "Les Intouchables", no nuance to be lost. Wealthy disabled man hires petty criminal to act as his carer and assistant, great friendship is born out of it, that movie blew up, If you haven't seen it, I can't recommend it highly enough, I love it.

Pretty much, but I don't have as much of an issue with remakes for a different market. Case in point, there's a Japanese version of "Unforgiven" called "Yurusarezaru Mono", and that was outstanding, absolutely sublime. But the American version of "Oldboy", straight up garbage. So, if they do remakes of Ong Bak, Warrior King/Protector, 13 Assassins, or The Raid, they better do that shit right, or I'm not gonna be happy. If it's done well, or at least there's a little exposition to say why it's like that, I'm okay with it. But "Fuck you, it's this now", not so much.

My feeling on it is, if it's an existing entity or a biopic, I do have certain expectations of how they are presented in a movie. Case in point, they make a movie adaptation of the game "Sleeping Dogs", I expect to see Wei Shen, an athletic Asian guy, covered in tattooes. If Tom Hiddleston is cast as the lead, I'm gonna think "What the fuck?! Why is Tom Hiddleston the lead in Sleeping Dogs?!". Or if Jack Black was cast as Nathan Drake in an Uncharted movie. There are exceptions to prove the rule though, Denzel Washington in The Equalizer, Morgan Freeman in The Shawshank Redemption, Will Smith in Men in Black, but they were absolutely outstanding in those roles, especially Freeman in Shawshank, he even beat out Clint Eastwood for the role, who was Irish-American in the book.

I actually got pissed off when Matt Damon was cast as Francois Pienaar in "Invictus", because Matt Damon is 5'9" and around 185bs, Pienaar is around 6'3" and 245lbs So, Matt Damon is fucking TINY to be playing Francois Pienaar. Just made a big, rough necked rugby player, playing in the scrum, into a midget pretty boy by comparison.

If Warner Bros were smart, they'd focus on an extended Mortal Kombat Universe, and then have an MK vs. Justice League movie. That would be their Captain America Civil War, as Warner Bros own all the rights to DC and Mortal Kombat, and they had a shared game, granted, it wasn't very good, but there's juice in that fruit, a massive, money filled fruit.

I'd love for them to make a movie out of the "Injustice" video game, which is set in an alternate realm, where Superman goes fucking mental, and becomes a dictator, and drafts in various superheroes and villains to serve as a New World Order, and the Justice League from this realm become the resistance along with "their" Batman and Joker.

I was always pulling for Gina Carano to get the role, but considering she's now Angel Dust in Deadpool, and has now broken up with Henry Cavill on two seperate occasions it was probably a no-go. I love Gina Carano, former Professional Muay Thai and MMA fighter, former American Gladiator, and ridiculously hot. Although, I'm not gonna sell Gal Gadot short, she served in the Israeli Army for 3 years, and also served as a combat trainer for a brief period of time too.
