  1. I just found out that Arlene Phillips was the choreographer for this movie, who would go on to find more fame as one of the judges of BBC's 'Strictly Come Dancing', which then got the US version "Dancing with the Stars", she declined the opportunity to appear on the latter, as she didn't want to move to the US to do it. And is also an unaging wonder of science and plastic surgery. Here she is, aged SEVENTY-TWO
  2. Yeah, that was one of the starting off point of one thing that REALLY pisses me off that's happening right now: - Somebody creates something, with their own hard work and imagination - A subset of people, who have no interest in the creation say "Hey! That's problematic, you better change that shit" - The creator apologises, changes it, because they either don't want to offend anyone, or they think that's what the paying public wants - The people who are interested in it then say "What the fuck?! Why did you change it?!" - The original people who made a big deal about it in the first place then say "Oh my god, look at them getting all upset about it, why are you making such a big deal about it?! It's only..."
  3. Your middle paragraph reminded me of the late, great Patrice O'Neal, who basically said "You should be able to make whatever joke you want, it might not be funny to some people, you might get in trouble for it, but you have to defend the ATTEMPT at making a joke".
  4. Personally, I think we should just draw a line under it, and not let this forum descend into two seperate tribes, especially over one guest which holds no baring over the quality of work done by Paul, June, Jason and staff like Avril, Nate and others who I apologise for forgetting, who bring us one of the best podcasts you can get, for free. The episode has been made, it's been listened to, let's maintain a community that had amazing conversations, like the "LOL" thread in the Bad Movie Recommendations forum, the Mortal Kombat thread and others. We're all here for the same reason, let's just put down our AK's, lay down our Uzi's and just form one massive Massive! Yes, I did steal that last line from Ali G: Indahouse. In fact, to raise spirits, here's Eric Stonestreet in a couple of funny vines https://vine.co/v/hOvpQYQY1QJ https://vine.co/v/hOg6FHjr0U2
  5. No, I feel no hard feelings coming from you, I was merely adding an alternate perspective so that people don't get lumped in with those who are doing it to be pricks for the sake of being pricks, I've been lumped in with "pricks" for my own opinions, and been accused of reprehensible things for nothing more than disagreeing with a viewpoint, so I can be quick to defend my stance. But, I've always not liked it when anyone, comedian or otherwise leads off with their own identity, other than their ideas. So when things like wage gap is shoehorned in when it's a discussion about a movie starring the Village People, it's not relevant, and it was just forced, hence the use of the term "bludgeoned", not so much the "lesbian" stuff. You brought up Whitney Cummings, I really like her , have you ever seen Shappi Khorsandi? Because I'm in England, and she's pretty popular, so I don't know if she's made it over there, she's really good.
  6. In fairness, it's not "sexist and homophobic" to not like a certain person's performance, in my opinion, it was a poor performance, regardless of gender or sexual proclivities. She tried way too hard, interrupted way too much (as did everyone else), and just bludgeoned people in the face with her politics, and people are well within their rights to be put off by it, because they want to laugh at a silly movie, and they probably felt that it was just a little too much. But, all in all, in my opinion, it wasn't as good an episode as the others, and because there's been 133 episodes of absolute excellence, so a not-as-good episode is going to look worse by comparison, I'm not going to stop listening to the podcast, including mini-episodes because of one guest, hell, I'll even listen to any further episodes with Cameron Espisito, because I love listening to Paul, June and Jason, talking about stupid movies.
  7. You can actually get moustache protectors for your drink In fact, here's Stephen Fry trying some out
  8. I'll be honest, I couldn't tell, because it was just so ham handed, and aggressively delivered, it removed the nuance and took the humour out of it. Take June for example, she could have taken the same subject, but has that delivery which is just perfect for it. They have a much different way of putting the square peg in the round hole, June will distract you somehow, and then serruptitiously slip the lid off, put the peg in the bucket, slip the lid back on, and you're none the wiser. Cameron on the other hand wedges the peg in the hole, then takes a sledgehammer, smashes the peg, the bucket, the table and puts a couple of holes in the wall, then drops it on your foot when she's done.
  9. I didn't really like this episode, it just degenerated into four people screaming over each other and got a little too "Social Justicey" in places, but I'm looking at this positively, one "not so great" episode after 133 great episodes? That's a fucking incredible ratio.

    Episode 133 - The Quest

Anyone else get the feeling that Dux and Van Damme came up with the idea for this movie playing Punch Out like the arcade scene in Bloodsport? They just saw the stereotypical characters in Punch Out, and just applied them to this movie, even down to the Spanish Flamenco fighter.

One minor correction, Ong Bak: Thai Warrior was in modern time, however, the second and third movies were in feudal Siam during the 1400s.

    Episode 132 - Bloodsport: LIVE!

What was the deal with that Frank Dux fanboy? The guy who introduces himself when he said "Hey how are you doing today? Good. You, good fighter... you... good...". And then later, when the referee says "He's too late", he pulls out a HUGE wad of cash, and stuffs it in his Gi and says "Too late?! No such thing as too late!" And after that, the reporter shows up as his date. So, I can only assume that he's in the bar saying "No bro! I'm tellin' you! Frank fuckin' Dux is gonna win this motherfucker! Nah, I'm tellin' you, Frank Dux! Don't come at me with that 'Paco' bullshit! Yeah, Chong-Li's good and all that shit, but Frank Dux all the fuckin' way! I'll bet you anything! No, anything, bro! What you got?! Bro, I'll bet my fuckin' house on this shit! I'd go fuckin' homeless if Frank Dux don't win this shit! You gonna live on the streets for fuckin' Paco?! No. Frank MOTHERFUCKIN' Dux!!" So, the reporter hears this guy espousing the skills of Frank Dux, and she says to him "Are you talking about Frank Dux?! I'd love to see him fight". He says "Hey, come with me, here's a ticket, I'll see you tomorrow, wear something nice, but don't mind getting blood on." before smashing his glass on the floor, screaming "FRANK DUX BITCHES!!!" and walks out of the bar chanting "KU-MI-TE! KU-MI-TE! KU-MI-TE!"

    Episode 132 - Bloodsport: LIVE!

Well, he comes up with a reason for that, in an interview I'm gonna post when I find it again. He said that a lot of them amounted to nothing more than glorified Toughman fights in somebody's back yard. Untrained guys who were just turning up, not knowing how to fight. He's acting as if this world renowned martial arts tournaments had what was essentially Pro Wrestling 'Jobber' matches. Barry Horowitz in the Kumite! Although, there is a precedent there, because PRIDE would fill out their Grand Prix tournaments with Pro Wrestlers, guys who were physically tough, and knew how to throw a fight somewhat realistically. You know what happens when a legit guy throws a fight? Check out Stefan Leko vs. Naoya Ogawa during the 2004 PRIDE Heavyweight Grand Prix. http://youtu.be/WWKWA38hUSc?t=50s Stefan Leko takes a punch, then remembers "Ah shit, I'm supposed to go down", and flops on the floor, completely unnaturally. Nothing was ever made official, however, PRIDE have fixed fights on a number of occasion, and Ogawa was the top babyface in DSE's (the company that also owned PRIDE at the time) pro-wrestling company HUSTLE, so they needed to promote HUSTLE through PRIDE, so they had Leko throw the fight to Ogawa, and then in the next round, he has a 'fight' with the guy he's in a Pro-Wrestling feud with, Giant Silva. As for the Dux's record, Rickson Gracie claims a '400-1 record... although the loss doesn't count, because I didn't know the rules, so I'm really 400-0". Rickson's dad, Helio Gracie came out and said "That record's exaggerated, he'd count rolling with some white belt kid as a win".

That reminded me of a joke I read about CM Punk. "What does CM Punk's UFC career and Catholic birth control have in common? The guy keeps pulling out".
