    Episode 75 — Daredevil

I think there's better uses of your time (listen to us, overexplaining a superhero movie). People refer to it with terms like "landmark film" but through the lens of history, it's worth as a piece of cinema is more weighed towards what it paved the way for rather than the object itself. Now it would seem like a parody of European art house cinema because its influence was fairly considerable and certain tropes have become shorthand for silly, snooty foreign films -- black & white, a naked person smoking, speaking in Swedish, themes of sex & death, etc. I think any film is worth a shot but if you're going "I want to watch a fun, erotic, artsy film" then I think stuff like Radley Metzger (The Opening Of Misty Beethoven, The Lickerish Quartet), Jean Rollin (Fascination, Requiem For A Vampire), Jess Franco (Venus In Furs, Female Vampire), or even some of the Emmanuelle movies offer more entertainment value. But sometimes we want more than to just be entertained; I dunno. I Am Curious (Yellow) is on Hulu, like many Criterion movies.

    Episode 75 — Daredevil

Oh my shit, that's got to be a reference to 1967's Euro-art erotic film I Am Curious (Yellow) and the follow-up I Am Curious (Blue), which I'm pretty sure 99% of Superman comics readers had no idea existed. Curious!

    Episode 75 — Daredevil

If I had a dollar for every time my wife wore a lead box on her head to hide a secret from me, I'd start asking her to wear a lead box on her head to hide secrets from me. Zouks, there it is!

Submit your HDTGM T-Shirt Designs HERE!

I think the HDTGM? should be shifted ever so slightly to the right (I feel the question mark doesn't hold a lot of weight). But this is an 11/10 design and I would gladly pay money for it. Much as I loved the Nic Cage and Bai Ling shirts, this really distills the essence of HDTGM as well as being a case of very handsome graphic design which could be easily screen printed. Nicely done!

    Sleepaway Camp is being remade

I really don't see why people get worked up over remakes. The originals are still there for you, you don't have to appreciate or even give notice to the remake. The remake does not erase the original film out of existence. The 2007 3:10 To Yuma? Great western; we need more westerns. I was a little skeptical about the new Evil Dead but it was basically about as perfect as you could hope for -- an homage that hit the right notes and veered off into its own direction just enough (plus the fans got a little b-b-b-bonus after the credits). I think we should really start treating all pop culture in a similar fashion to music: you can cover a song. Or you can write fan fiction (that one person who wrote Twilight fanfic made one of the best selling books (50 Shades Of Grey (which I fucking hate-read cuz it was so stupid) of the year). Put up parody videos on youtube. No one can ever beat Sam Cooke's delivery of "A Change Is Gonna Come" but be my guest and give it a swing. On the other hand, I've heard Diamanda Galas sing Billie Holiday, and that was a thing that happened.

    Episode 75 — Daredevil

Or the 1990 Captain America, or (!!!) the 1997 Justice League which is so hilariously inept that it was shot and edited as a Real World style documentary. I get that this is a superhero movie and suspension of disbelief etc etc but that's such a glaring "fuck you" to uhhh the laws of reality, common sense, and the audience's intelligence. You should check out his appearance on You Made It Weird. I believe he talks about growing up, riding bikes and loving comics.

    Episode 74.5 — Minisode 74.5

Yeah, have you seen pics of Chris Pratt getting beefed up for Guardians Of The Galaxy? Parks & Rec's Andy is more ripped than Superman. I think it was on last week's Indoor Kids, they were talking about the literal arms race. When the first Thor came out, everyone was like "damn"; then Captain America, everyone was all "Damn"; Man Of Steel's Superman (movie aside), everyone was like "DAMN" -- maah wife was fanning herself like she had the vapors. Story about the guy who played Superman and how crazy his workout regime was. When they finished shooting the shirtless scenes (near the end of production), he could finally relax a bit on his diet: Also: something something about some male actors being held up to impossible standards of perfection similar to how every female in Hollywood is, but that's not equality, it's just more of the same but not exactly, I'm not articulate enough for this.

    Episode 74.5 — Minisode 74.5

I started to watch this last night and *suprise* fell asleep within about ten minutes. But damn, those city/building CG shots look even worse than I remember them. Literally looks like a Dreamcast game or demo to show off an Nvidia card in like 1998. It's terrible. That's an interesting point. Kingpin in the comic kind of varies in size but he's of a Juggernaut/Blob stature. And Michael Clarke Duncan is fucking HUGE (6'5", 315 lbs sez wiki) so really you shouldn't have cast a dude only one inch smaller than him to have that work; remember how menacing he looked in Friday? I didn't realize how tall Affleck was (why would I know, though). And fuck, I probably heard it last year but forgot -- RIP Michael Clarke Duncan.

    Mystery Science Theater 3000

I know your feels, duder. I totally understand. I am really happy for you and that you got to have that experience; it's a special thing that they do this publically -- when they don't need to at all -- to give fans that gift of personal connection. I don't want to bring up the whole Mike/Joel debate, but it is interesting to see the paths the various MST3K alumni have taken. Mike and his two robot rollcall buds do their Rifftrax in a place where you can't touch them; Joel and the OG crew are doing/did their thing where they're accepting of the fandom. I'm just glad that all parties involved back in the day made such a wonderful thing that contributed so much to pop culture, and its effects will be felt for a long time. We're a better species for having produced the MST3K episode of Mitchell.

    Indecent Proposal (1993)

But that comparison was kinda apt, actually. I feel like Billy Connolly has never really gotten his due; the thing I remember him most from is when he replaced Howard Hesseman on the tv show Head Of The Class. (Oof). Haha, that reminds me of this classic Achewood strip.

    Submit clips here!

I got that film off some torrent site and eventually got a copy of the dude's book (same title) off ebay; it is exactly as insane as the video. I keep it on my nightstand and my wife thinks I'm a lunatic.
  17. Yeah, what the hell, this movie fucking rules. It's totally campy and tongue in cheek. Christopher Lloyd's character is named John Bigbootay, fer chrissakes; some other characters are Reno Nevada, Perfect Tommy, and Penny Priddy. The whole thing is like being dropped into a the middle of a Marvel comic from the 1970s or something. The scene where Buckaroo's band is playing at the club and he stops the music: "Wait, stop the song, is... somebody crying out there?" is one of the silliest scenes in an exceedingly silly and entertaining movie. "Go, Big Booty. Use more honey. Find out what she knows." eta: That credits sequence is the shit! Buckaroo Banzai is on Netflix, for anyone who wants to make up their own mind. You know what, I think I can immediately tell if we're gonna be friends or not -- if you think Tank Girl is a great movie and Buckaroo Banzai is boring and pretentious, don't let the door hit your ass.

    Howard's music!

Great rhymes, the mix sounds pretty good on headphones. I love how most of Kremer's song titles all sound like some random nonsense he wrote down on his Whooch notes, and then figured out how to make lyrics around that. I like spooky/Halloween rap. This is going on a mix tonight.

    Episode 152 — Overture

Oh god, I can't remember who -- but someone on I think the HDTGM forum said they wanted Monster Mash played at their funeral and that idea cracked me up for days. Still does. "Daft Punk Played At My House" is great but his vocals have always mildly annoyed me because it sounds like he recorded it while he had a head cold. Great album. Is it me or are the intros/themes new stereo mixes this episode? I felt like the opening was a totally different mix, listening on headphones. I need to listen to some other eps but it definitely sounded like some pans were being moved.

Kremer's unwillingness to reveal his true age is hilarious because he constantly dates himself with references like this.

    Episode 151.5 — 10/25/13 TWO CHARTED 90

I'll allow it, but watch yourself, Earbear. I can second this! And -- like all (I think?) ciders -- they are gluten free, for jerks like me who require that.

In any case, "Dragons vs Helicopters" is an Asylum production I would definitely rent from Redbox.

    Dreamcatcher (2003)

The feeling I get watching this movie is exactly what I feel whenever I've read his books. "What is happening and who wrote this shit?"
