Musical Mondays Week 39 Preview (Taylorannephoto's 3rd Pick)
SlidePocket replied to SlidePocket's topic in How Did This Get Made?
I had just caught this one over two weeks ago! Not as bad as its reputation would like you to believe. -
The film that ended John Woo's career in America, and part of a bad rut for Ben Affleck.

Actors who are underrepresented on the show

Pretty soon the gang is covering Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. -
"Smooth Talker" from Body Rock http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHQoBCwJkuw

The film that marked the end of Arnold Schwarzenegger's headlining days as a box office draw before this stint as the Governator. Also notable for being pushed back after the September 11 attacks due to its terrorism theme, which also didn't help the movie from not being good.

1994's Terminal Velocity came out the same year as Drop Zone, and both contain skydiving as their main element. It has Charlie Sheen as the instructor, and Nastassja Kinski as a Russian spy who drags Sheen into fighting off KGB bad guys to find some gold. Not a box office success (made only $16 million in the US on a budget of $50 million), but the guy who wrote the film is none other than David Twohy of the Riddick series!

This film is also one of the few hits produced by Cinergi Pictures (along with "Medicine Man", "Tombstone", "Die Hard with a Vengeance" and "Up Close and Personal"), which wasn't able to help the company from dissolving after a string of box office flops ("Renaissance Man", "Color of Night", "Judge Dredd", "The Scarlet Letter", "Nixon", "Shadow Conspiracy", "Deep Rising", "An Alan Smithee Film: Burn Hollywood Burn"). -

In addition to this being the third Alan Parker feature being talked about here (following "Bugsy Malone" and "Pink Floyd The Wall"), it's also the second Andrew Lloyd Webber adaptation on this forum (the first being "Jesus Christ Superstar"), meaning someone is gotta bring Joel Schumacher's "The Phantom of the Opera" to wrap up the ALW trilogy someday. That said, what moment from this film sticks out the best to you guys? -
As revealed in the new minisode that's just been posted, the gang is going to cover the 2013 film "Adore" starring Naomi Watts and Robin Wright. The synopsis states: "Two lifelong best friends each begin a steamy affair with the other's son, but trouble begins to brew when one of the two young men desires a lover his own age." If anyone's familiar with this movie before this episode goes up next week, let's talk about it!
