Musical Mondays Week 22 Bugsy Malone
SlidePocket replied to Cameron H.'s topic in How Did This Get Made?
Perhaps also best known for being Alan Parker's directing debut. He would go on to do some other music-styled movies that we got to discuss about in the future like "Fame", "Pink Floyd: The Wall", "The Commitments" and "Evita". -
Let's give this one a bump right here.

Not to be confused with the Kevin Costner-Ashton Kutcher film of the same name from 2006, this 1990 horror flick from William Friedkin is about a young couple who hires a nanny in order to take care of their newborn child, only to discover that she is actually a witch from a druid cult that is obsessed with trees who had killed babies once before. When it aired on cable TV, there was a different ending that Friedkin eventually disowned by using the Alan Smithee credit, and The Guardian also made the list of Roger Ebert's most hated films. Anybody heard of this one? I thought I show you the trailer and see if that jogs your memory. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W65zl1FU2vA

Usher plays a DJ who saves Chazz Palminteri's life from a mob hit and falls in love with his daughter Emmanuelle Chriqui. Supposed hilarity ensues. Contrary to popular belief, "The Adventures of Pluto Nash" was not director Ron Underwood's last film, it was actually this one before heading to TV limbo since. It was even on the IMDb Bottom 100 at one point.

Who's Your Caddy (2007)
SlidePocket replied to choochoo_the_wonder_slut's topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
One of the permanent residents on the IMDb Bottom 100 in the decade since its release. -
A flimsy western centering around prostitutes turned outlaws played by Madeleine Stowe, Drew Barrymore, Andie MacDowell and Mary Stuart Masterson. Originally begun being directed by Tamra Davis, who worked with Barrymore on "Guncrazy", but was let go after only a few days of shooting, as the studio became unhappy with the direction the film was taking. It resumed a few weeks later with Jonathan Kaplan taking over, who had worked with Stowe on "Unlawful Entry" and with Masterson on "Immediate Family".

This one is going to be like Darren Aronofsky's last film Noah, critics liked it but audiences pretty much despised it.
-
Boys on the Side. That one was actually pretty decent during that era for Drew before her real comeback with Scream.

Musical Mondays Week 20 The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas
SlidePocket replied to Cameron H.'s topic in How Did This Get Made?
Don't forget to mention the real star of this film, Charles Durning, who got an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor! -
Drew flashing Letterman took place a year after this movie. The year when "Bad Girls" came out, she also endured a quickie marriage to a local bartender which barely lasted three months.
-
It is also notable for giving Dakota Fanning her big break, so at least that counts for something.
-
The first one must be picked on mainly for the adult-level stories that kids wouldn't get (embezzling among them), as well as the epic miscasting of Rosie O'Donnell as Betty and Elizabeth Taylor as Wilma's mother Pearl.

Next episode folks!

Harrison Ford and Paul Bettany star in this ridiculous thriller about a banker who is forced by criminals to help them steal $100 million after they hold their family hostage. Anyone remember this one?
