Musical Mondays Week 100 Light of Day
SlidePocket replied to Cinco DeNio's topic in How Did This Get Made?
Before Joan Jett was cast as Patti, a forgotten singer named Fiona Flanagan was offered by Paul Schrader to play the part. It didn't work out, but later in 1987, Fiona would soon star in her own movie alongside Bob Dylan and Rupert Everett called "Hearts of Fire", which is something we can do down the line eventually. -
Musical Mondays Week 100 Light of Day

With Patty Hearst and The Comfort of Strangers having just been rescued from oblivion by being put out on Blu-ray, this now leaves Light of Day as the only film from Paul Schrader not to see a DVD/Blu-ray release here in the US. I can't imagine if the music rights had anything to do with that. -
Annabella Sciorra leads an overly qualified cast (Jamey Sheridan, Alan Alda, John Leguizamo, Anthony LaPaglia, Jill Clayburgh, Deborah Kara Unger) about a psychiatrist who becomes intrigued by her patient's revelations of sadomasochistic sexual behavior while hooking up with her patient's ex-lover, and then when the patient is murdered, things get complicated.

Harrison Ford and Josh Hartnett star in this action comedy that is the last film directed by Ron Shelton ("Bull Durham", "White Men Can't Jump", "Tin Cup") to date. The movie suffers from having too many subplots regarding the two main characters' other jobs on selling real estate and being an actor respectively, plus it didn't help that Ford and Hartnett hated each other throughout the whole shoot, which could be responsible for the lack of chemistry between them onscreen.

Number 100, sweet! So I thought long and hard about my next pick and eventually picked something that is a little deeper compared to others. So we are going with: Light of Day (1987) by Paul Schrader and starring Michael J. Fox, Joan Jett and Gena Rowlands. You can easily watch it for free on YouTube. -

Musical Mondays Week 94 Funny Girl

What's Up Doc? with her and Ryan O'Neal is a very funny homage to 1930s screwball comedies that I think you can give a shot. -

Ah, Don't Tell Her It's Me. The film that would basically be the death knell of Steve Guttenberg and Shelley Long's movie careers. -
