Did I read that the studio insisted on a happy ending? I would have preferred a standard dark Romero ending. For example, Allan wakes up from a coma in an empty hospital. As he is putting on his pants, he finds a penny, but the head on the penny is Ape Lincoln!!!! ... No, that would be dumb. Sorry.

Mr. MondayCity wishes to apologize to any helper monkeys that may have been offended by his insensitive remarks. Since his previous post, he has entered rehab for a sex addiction in a hypocritical attempt to escape the blame for his otherwise inexcusable behavior. He has also donated an undisclosed sum to the circus.

Yeah, whose monkey do we have to spank to get a new episode around here?
-
Oh, well, that was a crazy story, I'll tell ya that much.
-
They need time to make and ship the masks that we are all supposed to wear when we listen to the episode. Now that they have obtained that large piece of Stonehenge, the plan should move along more quickly.
-
Great point. That came out of nowhere, but Geoff expected it to happen as a logical result of his experiments. What? In comparison with that part, the rest of the science looked like an episode of Nova on PBS.

It would have been a nice irony if the case they were discussing in the law school class illustrated the legal principle that if you jog down the middle of the street with a bag of bricks strapped to your back, it is an assumed risk that estops you from bringing a negligence claim against the operator of any vehicle that strikes you.

Why didn't the monkey ever throw her feces at anyone? What, was she too smart for that?
-
I was hoping for a post credit sequence in which the nurse's body was found in the trunk of the mother's car.

The science in this movie seemed a little sketchy. I think the premise was that injecting a girl's brain cells into the monkey's leg gave the monkey human intelligence and a psychic connection with a random human (Allan). Is that really a thing?

The rhymes in the movie ad Were so terribly bad. The responsible flunky Should be killed by the monkey.

Ella was played by Boo, whose one bit of IMDB "trivia" is, "Boo is a monkey." Under what circumstances is the fact that an actor is a monkey considered to be trivial? That seems like the kind of thing that should be front and center on the resume. "Great read, Boo, but I think we're going to go full-on homo sapien for this part."
-
Even so, it's much better than "Whose Life Is It Anyway?" (1981), which had no monkeys in the entire movie.

Hey, I don't want to complain about a sponsor, but that little bastard MailChimp pulled some of the same shit on me. One day he's sending out newsletters for my business, and the next day he's killing my enemies and threatening my girlfriend. Otherwise the service is awesome!

That horrific nurse was George A. Romero's wife! Mind=blown.

The main character of "Monkey Shines" is named A. Mann. What do you think that means? I'm just spitballing here, but maybe A. Mann = a man. This puts him in stark contrast to "the monkey".
-
And in "Twilight", Ella would have been a better Bella.

I think that Leonard Susskind must have seen this movie because whenever someone proposes a helper monkey for Stephen Hawking, Susskind says it's a filthy idea and then gets really quiet. One time, I joked that maybe the helper monkey would poop in a black hole, but then Susskind ranted about how the poop would still be there even when the black hole evaporates.

The Happening - (it's never happening, but talk about it if you want)

Wow, some kind of weird wind blew this to the top of the board. I hope this sort of thing does not keep happening. -
Whoa, whoa, Cornballs. Let me talk you off the ledge. You are obviously in the second stage (i.e., anger) of the Kubler-Ross model of reactions to watching the movie "Temptation." I admit that anger (stage 2) and depression (stage 4) occupied substantial amounts of my energy after I watched "Temptation." But the episode was really funny and the board has been great. Besides, if you give up on the show now, Tyler Perry wins.

Gilly, in "Abduction," was played by Denzel Whitaker, who had previously won an NAACP Image Award for his work in The Great Debaters. It would have been legit to bemoan the fact that John Singleton chose (or agreed) to assign the petty criminal activity in the movie to the only black friend of the white hero or to express regret that black actors must often take lousy or stereotypical roles out of economic necessity. However, it seems to me that referring to Mr. Whitaker's character by a racial epithet throughout the episode only had the effect of punishing the victim. Movies are commercials for social, political, and moral beliefs and actions. It's really important to expose what they are selling. I appreciate whenever that is done effectively.

Satan's quote was taken out of context. You have to read his whole review. He loved this movie.

When I was in court one day, the judge asked for case law on a particularly irrelevant point, and I was very tempted to cite to Ecks vs. Sever.

The Happening - (it's never happening, but talk about it if you want)

Has it been mentioned that in 2001, John Titor posted a prediction that HDTGM would never do "The Happening" in ANY universe resulting from the infinite outcomes of quantum mechanics? He said that in our universe, the controversy would result in a civil war that would divide the US into 5 districts, including one especially aggressive population in a territory known only as "Spice World." At the time of his post, many skeptics said that Titor was one panel short of a "Nancy" comic, but who's laughing now?
