Oof, 1980. 35 years ago. I need to be less wordy, but I did a blob of words a while back about my time with U2 in my ears: http://forum.earwolf.com/topic/15412-episode-1-%e2%80%94-from-boy-to-under-a-blood-red-sky/page__view__findpost__p__89898 I still miss the purple sticky weed. -

Old guy here, so I think I can kind-of talk to Letterman's out-of-touch. I've heard Hardwick talk about how there is such a gap in people that listen to podcasts and those that don't, but Hardwick doesn't understand what the barrier is. Main point, it's device driven. The entry point for me and podcasts started AFTER I purchased an iPod. There was a lengthy period after I purchased the iPod before I ever downloaded a podcast. I was aware of the word podcast, I thought they were like songs and you had to purchase them. Which was a huge no bueno for me. One day though, I thought I would at least look at the comedy offerings in the iTunes store (again, this is all Apple driven), the only name I immediately recognized was Doug Benson's, and that was because I remember he had a movie review page on bobanddavid.com (an old Mr Show website). Sure you can get this stuff onto your pc, you can get apps that let you stream to your android, but the first step into podcasts is almost always via an Apple device. It wasn't by word-of-mouth that I found earwolf. I work in a company of 3,000+ people, in 17 years I have never heard any other human talk about podcasts. Period. Other obstacles? I talk to my wife about funny moments that I hear on podcasts, and she makes fun of me. "oh did you hear that on a podcast?" "is it a fun podcast?" There is a huge swath of people that have never heard of a podcast, and content creators would do themselves a favor (and the industry) to find a way to kick in the door to expose people that aren't part of the Apple universe. Podcasting is big and growing, but it needs to find a way to get out from behind the Great Wall of Apple. -
Watched it last night at home. I liked it. It's an exploration of modern america pop-culture story. Kind of like Bobcat Goldthwait's God Bless America. Matt Walsh is amazing. James Adomian was terrific. Amy Sedaris was rock solid. Koechner is a heavyweight, and he steals every scene he shows up in. There are so many good people, and characters that you want each story to be told. The first act exposition seemed a little long, and Cera's character was unnecessary. I like what he did, but with the first act beginning to drag, his part could have been cut. It's a solid film from David, and if you are a fan of earwolf (Walsh & Adomian...) you're going to like Hits. It's a pay-what-you-want on bittorrent https://bundles.bittorrent.com/bundles/hitspwyw So you can't really go wrong. I would suggest that if you want to see more content created by David Cross, and see more people like Matt Walsh, James Adomian, David Koechner (have you seen Cheap Thrills? OMFG, get on that shit), then you owe it to yourself & this project to buy/donate/pay and enjoy Hits.

Beyonce are the Yankees of music. Bring in the allstars, shoot them with steroids, when somebody else wins the World Series you declare a foul and name the Yankees to be the champ anyways. I can only ever remember a single lyric of Beyonce's, and it's "all the single ladies, all the single ladies...," but anytime I hear it, I think to myself that it's the Spice Girls. I'm not heavily invested in the debate, woulda thought there would be some rooting for the underdog though. A two charted tour?? They HAVE to bring it to Florida, and have Lee as a guest.

I need to re-listen to this episode. Driving thru traffic, with my middle-finger pressed to the window is no way to appreciate the joy of The Hooray Show.

I've yet to have the plate recognized, but that is to be expected. The plate has been (on my bike for) a while now, but the weather has been crummy. I'll be shocked if anybody recognizes the meaning. -

Regarding the first Florida story, and the question of why a homeowner would pursue a burglar: The reason why a homeowner has to pursue a criminal is that if you lose contact with the criminal, the police will not continue the pursuit. The police are not be as interested as you are. We had a guy that repeatedly damaged our house, and although it was captured on surveillance the police wouldn't get involved. Being a criminal he wasn't too smart, and he approached our house while I was in the yard. He did a year in prison. Florida, the hot shitbox of human agony.

great ep! from the 10k, the pics are up you have to plug Matt's last name into the search field, and that will take you to them. There are so many people around Jimmy, it looks like he is running in a crowded elevator. Matt's pics are hilarious. http://www.marathonf...eOID/26862015W2
