  1. My elderly father is 1,000 miles away and is having a scheduled surgery. All-in-all, I'm okay with that. He should be fine.

This guest (who chooses to be named a myriad of ways) has me so stressed now, and I'm only 36 minutes into the podcast.

Is this part of an April Fools joke?

  2. I'll be the bad guy and say what everyone is thinking: Chad has got to go.

He was ok at first but now he thinks he has to chime in about everything and consistently steps on jokes and interrupts horatio//guests as they are trying to get bits off the ground/establish a premise. He interrupted Besser and Walsh I don't know how many times on the live ep. Not to mention fucking up all the sound drops by blasting random loud music.

Powerful opinion. I don't agree with it.

I respect it, and I hope there is room for me to disagree.

  3. I had to kill off any notion of being a fan of mangoes. I feel like I have to give a grandfatherly warning since I am so reactive to them. Urushiol (the same chemical in poison ivy) is also secreted by mangoes.

Walking with my family to a local park, we passed a mango tree, I picked a few and stuck them in my daughter's basket. I then went for a run, which made me sweat. What do you do when you sweat? You wipe it away.

Not knowing about mangoes or urushiol the sweat that I wiped from my forehead now contained urushiol from my hands. Over the course of the next few hours, my eyes swelled shut.

    How to act:

    1. 1) No running around the pool
    2. 2) don't run with scissors
    3. 3) and for the love of god - fear the mango! :)

  4. I'm willing to suspend my disbelief every time Ku says "count-downing", but the mispronunciation of one of my favorite punk bands in the world is disrespectful to her Minnesotan heritage and the umlaut itself.

I can't gig her on that, she was only 7 when they broke up. She was probably too busy waiting tables in 1987. :)

  5. It's been awhile

I work in a stale office environment, and I am unaware of anyone around me that listens to podcasts.

A co-worker just approached me with a job I use to do, and asked if I remembered how to do it.

I said, "it's been a while since..." Before I finished the sentence, my co-worker said in a sing-song voice "been awhile."

Screech, full stop. I had to address this situation. My investigation into why my co-worker sings "been awhile" anytime somebody says the magic phrase yielded limited results. Turns out my co-worker was in a bar, and each time somebody said the magic phrase, that person would sing "been awhile."

One of you savage beasts is running amok in the wild and infecting the civilians.

    Bless you.

  6. Not sure if it's cool here on the board, but I've been a fan of Bazan for a few years now and just wanted to add a couple links for a taste of his music.

    Bazan's project Headphones

Bazan's Pedro the Lion album - Achilles Heel

There is no replacing the high quality cd's/vinyl with video quality, so the above links are offered as a toe in the water.
