  1.

No doubt. Maybe it's just me, but for me, it seems like he's been working a LOT on his questions.

    Regards

Well, 'hosting' used loosely, of course. I guess I meant more how he can dial things up or down depending on who he's talking to/what about, i.e. the more serious tone of the most recent Todd Glass episode.

  2. Yeah, can't say I agree with any of this generally, and some of the examples you chose are frankly bizarre: you're seriously looking to HARRIS for sincerity? And Andy Daly is one of the few who Scott DOES consistently try to throw off with bits/irrelevant side questions, purely cos he knows Daly can handle it.

I'm a bit surprised how anyone could call themselves a fan of the show and not give kudos to Scott for his mercurial hosting abilities, tbh.

  3. Glad to see the Tony Macaroni love...on balance may be my fave of the year, or at least tied with Sex Party Season, both of which I've relistened to multiple times.

    My full list:

    • Ep #263 - Hollywild (Ben Schwartz, Horatio Sanz)
    • Ep #266 - The Calvins Twins (Taran Killam, Paul Brittain)
    • Ep #272 - Sex Party Season (Gillian Jacobs, Paul F. Tompkins)
    • Ep #286 - Time Bobby 3 (Bobby Moynihan, Paul F. Tompkins)
    • Ep #289 - The Exorcism of Cake Boss (Paul F. Tompkins, Matt Gourley)
    • Ep #300 - Oh, Golly! You Devil (Jason Mantzoukas, Andy Daly)
    • Ep #301 - They're Twins Jonah! (Jonah Ray, Kumail Nanjiani & Brendon Small)
    • Ep #309 - Tony Macaroni (Nick Kroll, Jimmy Pardo & Claudia O'Doherty)
    • Ep #310 - Little Button Puss (Kevin Allison, Pamela Murphy & John Gemberling)
    • Ep #320 - Charging Kids (Alex Borstein, Brendon Small & Molly Bretthauer) - a late favourite, narrowly edging out Only Tones, the most recent Benny Schwazz/Horatio Sanz and the Birthday Womptacular.

Seeing them all together like that only highlights what a phenomenal year IIIIIIT'S BEEN for the show - and I thought nothing could've topped last year's stellar run. Thank you, CBB, for many years of joyful Mondays!

  4. He'd already made that clear with the robot. This felt more like a 'fuck you.'

Except clearly it wasn't clear to you from the robot, since you then typed out the longest post I've ever seen on this forum - which you clearly did want/expect him to read.

Sure, it would have been nice to have a better opponent (Matt was right, he lost the whole thing with his very first point) but Case Closed means case closed.

  5. "It's a bottle of wine, and then you take out the cork and drink it."

As a Corkonian, I loved this whole bit.

    Ooh, snap! :D

Lauren's Irish accent is almost as good as Scott's in the Patrick Mcmahon podcast!

Yeah, the accents were a wee bit suspect - kind of wish Pam Murphy had been there after she demonstrated her near-flawless brogue on CBB last month!

  6. Also is anyone here Irish? Because Pamela Murphy's accent seemed darn good to me. I jumped into listening to this ep without reading the guests and she had me fooled for a long time.

I am! (Would be interested in hearing from others too!) It was indeed very good, as were some of the expressions she used which seemed very "authentic Irish Granny" (Grandma)

  7. I think you're conflating a couple of different ones; the bad comedian @ the child's birthday party was Andy Daly's (now deceased) Ben Alterman character; the episode with "THE END" was the much more recent Coco Marx/Ben Schwartz episode - the first of this year, I believe...
