Episode 17 β Songs of Innocence
hypnotizingchickens replied to JulyDiaz's topic in U Talkin' Talking Heads 2 My Talking Head
time for a quick ep of Let's Be Frank... Volcano and Raised by Wolves are quite possibly two of the best songs U2 has put out since AchTUNG BΓ©bΓ©. I've only listened to the album once on my own in addition to hearing the clips that were played, but I'm thinking it's about time to give it another spin... because those two songs have been stuck in my head for days. this is good rock 'n' roll uh.. music. -

U2's new album to be out soon
hypnotizingchickens replied to justinmh05's topic in U Talkin' Talking Heads 2 My Talking Head
you're probably just blue turtlin'... but... let's be frank here! not saying it's impossible (Dustin over at FEAR-al Audio always gets Harmontown out the day after the live show), but the chances that they saw the announcement around 2pm, completely cleared their schedules, downloaded and listened to the album, convened to record a podcast, edited and added in subpodcast stings all in time to post it by midnight is nearly impossible. that being said, I want nothing more in this world than to be proven wrong. -
U2's new album to be out soon

someone needs to make a Todd Glass remix of this album.... (i.e. overdubbed with a live drummer hired from craigslist and lots of reverb) the cover art is a bit underwhelming, but it kind of reminds me of UB40's early records due to it's sparseness... and the use of the letter "U" followed by a number. -
Episode 149 β Stinky Sword
hypnotizingchickens replied to JulyDiaz's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
just now getting caught up on recent episodes, so I wanted to say thanks to Brett for playing my cup suggestion! a little insight: Pere Ubu was indeed pushing the envelope for music and performance as Matt said (however they actually started in the late '70s)... they were pretty notorious around that time for their theatrical, avant-garde stage shows and records. although they disbanded in '82, they reformed a year or two before this '89 interview. while this new incarnation of the band retained some roots in noisy experimental music, their output was decidedly more refined and pop-oriented. as is to be expected with almost any band that drastically changes their sound, this was met with a generally negative reaction from critics and their longtime fans. I don't think the interviewer was necessarily trying to be condescending with her question, but David Thomas (no, not the one from Wendy's.... or the Canadian comedian) has a habit of being a bit obtuse in interviews. regardless, I'm glad my suggestion could inspire some hilarious improv! -
wow, glad someone bumped this legendary episode... I don't remember anything in CBB history I laughed at more than the Buster Bloodvessel bit. that being said, god damn it... I MISS PLANE BREAKS!!! anytime I hear that shitty Jet song on the radio, I leave it on so I can scream "TAKIN' A PLAAANE BREAKKKK!" before the lyrics come in........ and then turn the channel as fast as I physically can.

Episode 147 β Old Dread Ben

god damn would love to discuss punk music with Matt... it seems like he'd have some great bands to suggest that I might have never heard of and maybe I could do the same. I didn't see the T.S.O.L. song he mentioned posted here so I felt it necessary to go ahead and share it. the album Dance with Me remains one of my favorite '80s hardcore records... so dark, but so fucking catchy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpZJLjrb4vU -

I'm sure it would never make the cut, but I would love to see them do Wild at Heart... I think it's about time they take on a David Lynch film and it just so happens to be one of my absolute favorite Cage performances. for those who aren't familiar, he brutally destroys a man's skull in the very first scene... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wmof9ax_GS0 -

also, it should be noted that our friend Frank Welker is the voice of Fred from Scooby-Doo, the Cave of Wonders from Aladdin, Dr. Claw from Inspector Gadget, the titular Jabberjaw, as well as Megatron and most the Decepticons from '80s Transformers cartoons. he is one busy motherfucker. -

ah, track 11... we seriously need a CBB sound effects album. as a regular podcast listener, I feel embarrassed to say that I'm unforgivably late to check out Superego... started with 4:1 today and I truly can't comprehend why I put it off for this long. -

I'm just glad that it belongs to America.

yeah, I think he just misspoke since Kumail was on the same episode that provided the remix. although it is definitely odd that his referenceometer (or... referenceometer) has been so sharp lately that he'd forget which guest did an extremely memorable character, but our Scott-o-Bot is only human! so I forgive him. BUT if this issue persists, I propose a HDTGM-style Corrections and Omissions part of each episode.

true, I think he much prefers the Lovable Lads from Liverpool ...and by that I mean U2, of course.

fuck yes, the triumphant return of the foam. on a side note, I vote for "it's been a long time..." to be sung in the style of the Beatles song Wait from Rubber Soul http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcNpeG8DRkU it might be a little too much of a deep cut, but it could easily evolve into "it's been such a LONG time" a la Boston.

I'm surprised they didn't mention Greg Sestero or Brian Taylor during the guest interviews section... but I guess they could only choose so many. also I think that's 'Stard announcing each category, but I'm not sure. -
indeed... I was also wondering if she had any thoughts on how Scott likes to feel the wind against his finger. but in all seriousness, he doesn't wear a ring...

when Gino was describing cumming instantly while his bony wrists fold in on themselves, I couldn't fucking breathe.... Gabrus was killing it this episode! his consistently awesome appearances on CBB and i4h almost make me want to check out Guy Code... has anyone here ever watched it? it's titular conceit has always kept me from checking it out, but I'd be happy to be proven wrong for comedy's sake.
