  1. I used to have the same opinion on that... but listening to Maron's interview with him made me like Fallon and other notorious character-breakers a lot more. apparently Will Ferrell and others on the cast would go out of their way to try to make him laugh in live sketches by going slightly off script or making eye contact. that doesn't necessarily apply to Gabrus, but nowadays I'm much more forgiving about comedians laughing at other people's (or even their own) jokes... as much as I love deadpan comedy, it's still all in good fun.

    Episode 10 — Fuego

...the Witch & the Wardrobe? honestly, this is the first episode that actually made me want to listen to Phish... the jam from the first song was amazing and even the wombat song kind of had me interested (if not just to see the Fish TV show... you know, with Abe Vigoda)
  3. dammit... I live in Texas and could have easily gone to this show, but I found out about it the day it was happening and I had to work. I don't remember seeing a list of improvisers on that day, but Wengert, Sodaro and Gabrus are three of my favorite regulars on the show so now I'm kicking myself even harder. this is going to be a difficult listen, especially if it's really funny.
  4. Dirk Wears White Scotts.

    Episode 9 — Hollywood Bowl

I wonder if it's going to drop Wednesday like this episode did... I can't wait to hear their thoughts on Phuego.

Brett Morris! Stard! What Podcasts Do you Listen To?

http://en.wikipedia....Blind_Idiot_God I suggest this band to people whenever I get the chance... they made albums in the late 80's and early 90's that sound like they could have been released yesterday. some might call it.... math rock.
  7. wow, I haven't seen What About Bob since I was a kid... I used to watch it all the time. there's no denying parts of that scene are a dead-ringer for Bob Ducca, as I'm sure this movie and Bill Murray characters in general were a considerable influence... but as far as building an entire character around a being a hypochondriac, I don't think anyone has done it better than Seth Morris. just a side note, I find it pretty interesting that in the 90's you could say "shit eating son of a bitch" and "douchebag" in a PG movie...
  8. Bob Ducca definitely belongs in God Tier. along with the first list Bob read ("Scabies, Rabies... Mickey Rooney's Sugar Babies"), I think the most I've ever laughed at a character is probably Joe Wengert's Authur Steinborn... he was on the episode Repeat Your Keyword with Tim Heidecker and Lauren Lapkus. I'm sure it might be forgettable to some, but I believe it was his first time on the show and it blew my mind how he made something so simple and repetitive so hilarious.

    Episode 297 — Canadian Apparel

that's because Nathan Fielder is comedy's ultimate straight man. Season 1 of Nathan for You was one of my favorite shows on tv last year ever since the shit-flavored frozen yogurt in the first episode... so I can't wait until tomorrow to see what he's come up with. sadly I was under the impression for the past month or so that it was starting last week on the 24th, but I think CC pushed it forward (or I might have just gotten bad intel) Drunk History also starts it's second season the same night, so it would have been great if Scott could have gotten Derek Waters for this episode! as far as Earwolf shows go, I think he's only been on WhoCh...... but one can still hope.

    Space Jam (1996)

just curious... why in the fuck has this movie not been covered on the show!? it seems like a perfect balance of absurdity and greatness. I remember as a kid I saw this in the theater the day it came out... I was so excited that we had to sit in the very back because I couldn't physically sit down. also, several years later I had the pleasure of meeting Shawn Bradley.

    Episode 72 — Blue Cash

it's so odd that you bumped this episode in particular... the past couple months, I've been listening to one show a day in an effort to catch up to the newer ones and this is the exact episode I have lined up for tomorrow.
  12. ohhhh shit, I forgot Scott used to release parody songs on CBB... I still get the chorus to "Birthday Checks" stuck in my head anytime I get a personal check from a family member. "Girl you know I-I-I..."

Episode 295 — I Turned It On For The Dog Penis

as much as I enjoy Traci, I think it's about time for Scott's nephew Todd to make an appearance...

the one at the very beginning? It's the intro to Kiss by Prince Prints

Episode 292 — DJs Are Sleaze Js

honestly I can't think of a single episode that Kroll and Daly were both on... except for maybe a holiday or anniversary special, but I don't recall them ever doing any of their characters from Kroll Show together. I'd love to see a Bobby Bottleservice & Peter Paparazzo show... also an Aspen & Wendy pairing would be dolphinately and/or turtally awesome.

    Episode 294 — Honk Shoo

the Beast Wars and Real Ghostbusters references were glorious... it sounds like Bernie Fretts was the soundtrack of my childhood.
  17. good point... I'd sure as hell buy one. Scott...!? Scott....? where are our fuckin' t-shirts?
  18. I do agree that I would have enjoyed the episode a bit more if it wasn't playing so loud the entire time, but it did inspire some great riffs and whenever they paused in the conversation, it was fucking hilarious... especially "Dr. Suess?" another thing I noticed was that the first episode was definitely the most serious... even though they still went on a lot of tangents, they discussed the band in pretty surprising depth if you consider all the glorious nonsense in episodes that followed. the music nerd inside of me would have loved to hear an episode for each album because I love rawness of those first three records... but I guess I can understand considering they hadn't heard of the band until sometime around '84 I still wanna know what the fuck happened when Harris mentioned rehab because it got awkward as fuck in there... probably something personal.

Any HDTGM Movies that you consider good?

when I was a kid I used to watch the Street Fighter movie about twice a day... so if I revisited it, I'd probably enjoy every single second of that nonsense. also I have a very vivid memory of seeing the Spice Girls on SNL and for whatever reason, my poorly-formed 7 year-old brain loved what it saw. this spawned a couple years of collecting Spice Girls "action figures" (otherwise known as dolls) and even hours upon hours playing the Spice World game on Playstation... luckily I had a little sister I could blame it on when I had friends over. I'm sure watching it again would bring back some fond memories, despite how the movie might have aged. in other words, "good" is a very fluid term when it comes to movies... especially in the 90's.

    Episode 293 — Monster Muscles

is it just me or does Eugene Cordero need to finally get a break!? I enjoy him so much every time he's on this show or improv4humans... and he was great (albeit slightly underused) on Kroll Show and Season 3 of House of Pies. he brings that laid-back, Horatio Sanz-esque effortlessness to improv situations and even if he says or does something that doesn't make any sense, he still makes it work... not to mention his slightly ambiguous brown skin lets him experiment with different races, stereotypical or otherwise.
  21. where's the college girls...?
  22. so... the walrus was Chris Christie?
  23. everyone knows that the Ants > the Beatles http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hEn_rEDzp0 of course I'm talking about the insects... not the bands. however, if Ringo had experimented with some Burundi drums, the Beatles would have been truly prescient.
  24. hate to break it to you... but as far as I know, this is common knowledge and I'm pretty sure they even brought it up in the first couple episodes. I remember listening to those old CBB (CDR at the time) episodes and whenever Scott would have Scott on, they would always slip in to random U2 tangents that would last much longer than most serious conversations on the show... it was clear that they were both very passionate about the four lads from Liverpool. that's the reason this podcast is brilliant... they based an entire show around it and they talk about U2 about 10% of the time.
