Ooohh interesting! I am from Moraga if you are familiar with the smallest and most boring and isolated place in all of the bay. I am not doing any stand up and I would be interested in doing some for sure THOUGH I would be kind of hesitant to make an official commitment right now because I'm gonna be flying up (JetBlue into Oakland you know how I do) and I won't have a car.

    Β

But I will be around from like the 23rd until the 27th or 28th!

    Β

Oh! Maybe you'll get to try the new AirBart monorail shuttle from Oakland airport to the Bart station. It just opened. I've never been to Moraga, the land just beyond the hills. But I just street viewed it. Seems nice.

    Β

If you do decide that you want to/can do stand up, let me know. I might be able to set something up for the 26th, 27th, or 28th at a shitty bar in Oakland. B)

I'm going to be in the East Bay for a few days during around Christmastime with my family. I might not be able to make it out but I will be in town so who knows!!

    Β

Also just a warning to anyone who might want to meet with Asteck AKA ADAM in real life: he is a hardcore chiller and will start chilling out with little to no prior warning

    Β

I'm in the East Bay and I go on furlough between 12/24 and 1/1 so I will be cold hard chillin' that whole time. If anyone wants to meet up, let me know. Let's make this happen, Andy. Are you doing any stand up while you're here? If not, do you want to?

  3. Thank you, Andrew! This list is amazing!

    Β

I have seen The Thick of It, Fresh Meat, Peep Show, The League of Gentlemen, and Nathan Barley. All of which are very good. I especially like Nathan Barley. Poor Pingu, although he did go on to have quite a successful career in films. B)

    Β

But I have not seen the rest and will definitely check them out. There is a new American version of Getting On with Alex Borstein that I heard is good, but I haven't watched it yet.

  4. I've been bad at posting lately, but I was wondering if any of the Bay Area people on here might want to get a drink or something over the holidays?? It could be fun, we can gossip about which host is cuter and who we dislike on the forums in person. I saw a show with Andy Kneis recently, so I don't know if that proves I'm not a crazy person or a murderer. Hit me up on fb if you're interested!

    Β

I'm not on fb but I would be into a meet up.

  5. I see a lot of British comedies but no Snuff Box, with Matt Berry and Rich Fulcher. Seconding Man to Man and Darkplace.

    Β

Andrew, yes! Talk to me about British TV! Snuff Box is great and so weird. Matt Berry is incredible. He kills me just with the rhythm of his speech. What other gems are there?

    Β

Also, has anyone seen The Modest Adventures of David O'Doherty or Fancy Vittles with Maeve Higgins? Two Irish shows that are super funny.

  6. You like good TV, AV. Garth Marenghi and Dean Lerner are two of my favourite characters. Alan Partridge is one of my faves as well. I like the UK Office as well, and Extras (not as much), but I don't like Gervais anymore, so I don't go yelling about them. I also liked the US Office, in its prime. I liked the first 2 seasons of Community. MST3K. Comedy Bang Bang. Spaced. Party Down. Larry Sanders. Review. Seinfeld. Most of these are pretty obvious.

    Β

I've never heard of that, VB. This looks really good.

    Β

Oh I loooove Party Down. Such a good show. And I heartily agree about all of the other shows you listed. I just rewatched the first season of Seinfeld over the Thanksgiving weekend and even the early awkward episodes are so good.

    Β

Concerning Ricky Gervais, I completely agree with you. The Office was great. Extras was also really good, at least the first season. I also liked his animated show on HBO. But his later stuff was no good. He just kept the meanness and lost the funny. There was no more heart to his shows. It was just cheap laughs at someone's expense.

  7. First, I haven't seen Hot Package and will check it out. T4T was dope! (It seemed appropriate to use the word dope after watching that.)

    Β

I've seen some Fry and Laurie but will definitely check out more. I love QI and Stephen Fry is amazing!

    Β

Valerie, I remember when Dog Bites Man was about to come out on Comedy Central but I never watched it for some reason. Past Anastasia was an idiot to pass it up because it looks amazing!!! I will watch it asap.

    Β

Yay! New shows! My sad life continues!!!

  8. Lots of good stuff there. I see a bunch of british comedies but no Look Around You or Garth Marenghi, check those out if you haven't! Garth Marenghi is probably in my top 5 tv shows of all time.

    Β

Oh I love those two shows!! I am sure I forgot a ton in my lists. Speaking of Garth Marenghi, I also love Man to Man with Dean Learner. I will watch anything that Matthew Holness and Richard Ayoade do. They are hilarious!

    Β

Any other suggestions though? I am always looking for another show to watch. I'm pretty much like Mike Teavee

  9. I love the Eric Andre Show. I've seen his live show twice and it was incredible both times.

    Β

    Β

Some classic funnies that I enjoy: Upright Citizens Brigade, Stella, State, Viva Variety, The Young Ones, Never Mind the Buzzcocks (when Mark Lamarr and Simon Amstell hosted), Tenacious D (tv show), Mr. Show, The Ben Stiller Show, Daria, Pete & Pete, Freaks and Geeks, Reno 911, Home Movies, Frisky Dingo, The Sarah Silverman Program, Dr. Katz, Strangers with Candy, Sealab 2021, Harvey Birdman, Exit 57

    Β

Maybe this was too much. Needless to say, I enjoy comedy and watch too much tv.

  10. Forum consensus:

    • Call-ins are fun
    • Call-in episodes are bad

    Conclusion:

    • I want Hayes and Sean to personally call me and we can just kick it, no recording

    Β

I second this. Sean, Hayes, could you give us a ring from time to time? We love you and support you and all we ask is that you call us once in a while and let us know how you're doing. Is that so much to ask? Now let me just clean that schmutz from your cheeks and make you sandwiches.

Fear's rollercoaster fingering. Don't know that I liked it, but it certainly broadened my horizons.

    Β

    Β

Yeah, Fear was crazy. I remember making fun of that movie a lot....but then I also watched it a lot and never wanted a boyfriend. I think I was affected.

    Β

Any and all softcore porn at my grandma's trailer.

    Β

Wait, what?! Grandma was a softcore porn afficionado? Or maybe she just had skinimax?

    Β

I heard Sean wrote the Grumpy Cat Saves Christmas Special...

    Β

I read this as the Grumpy Cat Stevens Christmas Special. hahahahahaha! Cat Stevens is pretty grumpy these days. I love imagining a Grumpy Cat Stevens meme and facebook page. Is this a thing yet?

  12. A few sexy scenes that I rewatched a lot as an impressionable youth:

1.) Switch (1991) - When Ellen Barkin and Jimmy Smits wake up together after having sex and you see Jimmy Smits' butt.

2.) Sixteen Candles (1984) - When Caroline is taking a shower at the school gym (in hindsight, too sexy for what the scene is).

3.) Dances with Wolves (1990) - Mostly I remember when the Native Americans were having sex next to Kevin Costner but I think there are other sexy scenes in this too.

  13. Hi gang! Sorry I've been awol for a few days. I've been hiding out in a cabin since Wednesday. I had no phone and very limited internet access. I was laying low because last summer my friends and I ran over a man with our car as we were celebrating our last night before college. Well, we thought that man died so we pushed his body into the bay. But he was really alive and he started hunting us down and killing us one by one to get revenge. I was hiding out in the cabin until he came after me, then I fled to my ex-boyfriend, Freddie Prinze Jr.'s boat. The man followed us there and we had one last showdown on the boat, where the man's hand got ripped off and he was thrown into the bay. Finally, he's dead....or so we think.

  14. Some favorite quotes from this episode:

    Β

"...it fed your brain the food of ideas which it needs to grow fat and plump and rich with knowledge." - Sean

"...things that I, as a doughy middle aged man, can understand." - Sean

"Sean, you talk about something. I'm going to find the popcorn song." - Hayes

    Β

Bonus - Sean singing along briefly with the PG song.

    Β

By the way, what are the stats on this show? It's gotta be more popular than the fellas make it out to be.
