You know, when it comes down to it, I could have gotten past the age difference between Gigi and Gaston. According to IMDb, when they filmed this, they were 27 and 37 respectively. So, in my mind, I could imagine that they were supposed to be 17 and 27 in the movie, which isn't appropriate by today's standards, but in France at the turn of the century, I'm sure that wasn't all that uncommon. The problem was, every time I would try to get past their age difference and how gross everything was, the movie would go out of its way to remind me that she was a "little girl" as if that was the quality that was the most desirable. So fucking gross.

Here's my review for Doomed: I will say this: the cast do a pretty great job. You can tell that they aren't phoning it in. The only person I remember thinking was a little off was the guy who played Ben Grimm. To me, he played it a little too much like an "aww, shucks" milk drinking, non-swearing, Clark Kent-type. Maybe this was to juxtapose it with his angst after becoming The Thing (in fact, I'm sure this what the we're going for), but it really didn't work for me.

I watched both the doc and the movie recently. This was my Letterboxd review: I watched the full movie on YouTube, Hopefully that works for you! It's worth checking out even if it's not worth sitting through.

Hey all, just getting ahead of this. We're looking at 8/11 for our next live "posting(?)" I guess at this point we need to figure out what movie we want to watch next. If we're watching these in the order they were released, then we should technically be on Saeson of the Witch (I could have sworn episode 2 was Old Dogs...) However, I'm open to anything - although preferably something not something behind the paywall to accommodate our Howl-less friends. So, what do you guys want to do? Do we continue chronologically or do we just go with whatever we want?

I mean, maybe not this time, but next time we can just do it the day or day after it drops. It means we're watching it a week early, but I don't see any harm in that. It leaves tons of time to do superfluous research for C&O's

No worries! I feel the same way. I feel like I've watched my share of dodgy quality YouTube movies this year. Off the top of my head: Surf Ninjas, Ninja Terminator, Hard Ticket, this, and I want to say, Body Parts(?) I just can't get into them when I'm straining to see what's going on. I don't mind if they're not streaming, either. I'll rent/buy them. I don't care. But I'm also trying to reduce DVD clutter, so I really don't want a disc of GPK's that I'm only going to watch once. I don't know. I feel bad when I complain sometimes. Like, it's their show, so whether I, personally, can get a hold of and watch the film shouldn't really be a factor. I just enjoy watching the films first. And when they're not readily available, or of poor quality, it's frustrating. The thing thing that has always set HDTGM apart from other bad movie podcasts (to me) is that the fans have a way of participating in the shenanigans. When they pick movies like this, it kind of nudges us out a bit. Again, the show isn't about me, but still...it kind of sucks when we have to jump through hoops to join the conversation.

I tried Hulu, too. No dice.

Oh, I haven't listened to the mini. Is that the only option? I guess that's what we'll watch then.

Is the video any good? The quality was pretty terrible on the two I saw.

I just worry about Cam B. I assume it would be Friday afternoon for him...

I would also be more interested to watch it as a group...

Cake-butt brought it up last night, but would anyone else be interested in setting up viewings for the current HDTGM movies? Considering the movies we've been watching lately, it might make for a more enjoyable experience... Season of the Witch was horrible, but I had a great time watching with you guys last night...especially reading those reviews afterward.
