Okay, I had to (reluctantly) step away from the movie for awhile. Pro tip: Don't watch this movie with earbuds. Their wet kissing noises in the cemetery... Still great though!

I'm thrilled that they've expanded their color palette. I definitely saw some light gray AND dark gray in there.

Oh my God! I'm watching Sleepwalkers right now and I must have missed a newsletter or something. When did they stop doing bad movies? This is the best thing ever! Fucking flawless! I'm thrilled to be a part of this.

So I just finished watching Rent: Live on Broadway. And afterward, I took a good, honest look at myself in the mirror and I said three words: Also, for people clamoring for insight into my family life, this happened this morning: We're driving to the grocery story and I put "Rent" on because my son loves to sing it. My wife just sighs and says, "He wants to be just like his Daddy. (Too bad his Daddy isn't cooler...)" When we get to the grocery store my son is still singing at the top of his lungs, which I'm encouraging by humming the melody, and my wife is trying to quiet him down a bit. He laughs and tells her, "I'm singing with Daddy. Mommy is 'fwrus-tat-ed.'"

This was for Theodore Rex. I was Cameron H Pachycephalosaurus. Others were better at folding it in to their names. It was just to fuck with the fact that he has a tendency to mispronounce our names. He read one of my C&O's but dropped the tongue twister. Like I said, crafty.

If I recall correctly, Cam Bert succeeded, but, yeah, Paul's super crafty.

I can't believe someone is camping on "CakeBug." You know what you should do? You should file an official Earwolf injunction, that's what you should do. CakeBug is your goddamn brand! Who knows what they're doing with it!

Yeah, it was. I kind of feel like instead of CakeBug changing his name again, we should all change our names to CakeBug [something], just to further fuck with Paul.

I have not listened to the episode yet. I have not seen Sleepwalkers. I have not seen the trailer for Sleepwalkers. What I have done is gone to iTunes and read the first sentence of the movie's description... Oh, my. Something tells me we're in for something special here.

I really don't want to get too into this, but what you seem to be talking about is white-washing which is a different issue. The thing is, being "white" isn't Danny Rand's core character trait. He's a kid who crash lands in the Himylayas and gets trained in martial arts by a bunch of monks who consider him an outsider. Despite not fully accepting him, he manages to become their best fighter, but instead of staying there to protect them (i.e his job), he returns to his old life where he is also an outsider. Nothing in that description is "he's white and he talks about being white all the time so it's important that he's white." It's not the David Duke story. As a fan of the character, of course I had an image of what he looks like (you may have seen the pics), but I would have preferred they hired someone who could convincingly pull of the roll (*coughLewis Tancough*) then just hire a guy because he sort of looks like a character created back in the Seventies (and as Cam Bert pointed out, not even all that much.) I really wanted to like the show, and I believe I even defended the show before it came out by saying, "They haven't steered us wrong yet." I had hoped, given their track record, they knew what they were doing. I was wrong. And finally, even as a fan of the character, I recognize that the Average Joe and Jane on the street don't know anything about Iron Fist. Had you just said, "He's an Asian Kung Fu Artist" they would have been like, "Yeah, okay. I can't wait for the show."

No problem! And I don't want you to think I was upset. I like a good debate and just talking about why we like certain things and not others. I will say this: you've got me at least interested in trying it again. Probably not anytime soon, but someday.

I think the one good thing that will come from this whole debacle is that Marvel (and hopefully DC too) will realize that casting based strictly on what a character's race is in a comic book doesn't help anyone. Everywhere I go, "I see Lewis Tan should have been Iron Fist." I hope this is the kick in the ass they need to start casting based on talent and ability rather than something stupid like whether or not a person's hair is naturally blond.
