That's awesome! This couldn't have worked out better for me! A few months ago, iTunes was having a 4.99 sale on Musicals. I bought five at the time, but I haven't had a chance to sit down and watch any of them. I bought both Fiddler on the Roof (Which I haven't seen since college) and Cabaret! (Which I've never seen)! I think firsttimecaller's point is he doesn't want to know anything--good or bad--about the movie. This way he can make up his own mind and nothing gets spoiled for him, I've been trying to do that myself actuaaly, although I still watch trailers. I just try to avoid too much movie news. By not allowing any preconceptions to muddy the waters, it allows for a more pure movie watching experience.

How about the fact that when the ninjas initially attack the boys at their father's restaurant, Iggy tries to persuade of them to not attack him by assuming a racist caricature of an Asian accent? ("Me no speak-a English. Me wash dishes.") Fuck, son! If I were that ninja I would have been like, "Shit, I wasn't gonna hurt you, but now you've kind of left me no choice..."

Is it me or is there an absurd amount of fight scenes that occur in a restaurant in this movie? While I'm not exactly sure of the precise ratio of "in a restaurant" versus "not in a restaurant" fight sequences, I do know that they definitely fight in a restaurant twice in this movie--which might not sound like a whole lot, but for a 90 odd minute movie, I'd say that's kind of excessive. It's even more ridiculous when you consider that--in a movie called Surf Ninjas--the amount of "in a restaurant" fight scenes are equal to the total amount of surfing scenes found in the entire movie.

Midway through the movie, Loc and Baby Bro get captured by the bad guys and are being cargo'd away with a number of other Patu Sanian prisoners. Things are looking pretty bleak for our heroes. Then, suddenly, against all odds, Johnny drops in from the truck's roof and handily dispatches the guard! He then relieves the guard of his keys and hands them to one of the other prisoners who immediately begins freeing everyone else. Ebullient with bloodlust, Johnny takes just a moment to catch his breath and trade a couple of witty bon mots with his little bro when they are rudely interrupted by old sourpuss Tone-Loc who holds up his shackles and gripes, "Hey, Mr. Hero, now that you're here, how the heck are you gonna get us up out of here?" Gee, Detective, I don't know. Maybe with the keys you literally just saw me remove from this guy's belt not three feet in front of you...I know this movie sucks, but shit, it's for kids--surely you can keep up. And, for the record, he ends up using his sword to cut the chains--which is not only terrible for the blade, but seems like an extremely dangerous and unnecessary risk to take when standing in the back of a moving truck.
