I had the same feeling, but I just finished this Festival of Lunacy this morning after saying I couldn't get through it a few days ago. Oh boy... Seriously everyone, if you can enjoy HDTGM without seeing a movie first, now is the time to play that card. I figured, after chicken fingering it couldn't possibly get worse; I was mistaken. Actually LOL (or as I like to call it Shitty Parents Raising Their Shitty Kids:the Movie) does not get worse, it just seems to go on and on and on... To quote Lola's friend's mom: "This is garbage! GARBAGE!" I wish Tony Manero would strut over and punch everyone in the peehole who was involved with this movie.

Wow! So glad you caught that! I LOVED Joyce Hyser in Just One of the Guys! She dressed like Elvis Costello and looked like the Karate Kid. In a previous thread I recommended it for HDTGM. Not to derail the conversation regarding Staying Alive, but Just One of the Guys also has one of those weird things where the teenagers in the movie don't like music from their own era. Paul, brought it up in one of the previous episodes (Smurfs, I think). He said something like how modern teen comedy movies always seem to have a eighties number in the middle of it. In the eighties it was fifties/sixties music. I always found that pretty bizarre. Maybe it's because what is a hit song when a movie is made might be a pop culture punchline by the time it is released. In other words, using hit songs from the past gives the benefit of hindsight. Everyone likes James Brown, right? He's timeless, right? I guess sometime during this decade all the kids will be listening to Ace of Base and Bush. (btw--Is there a a reason why Smurfs isn't in the Earwolf archives for HDTGM?)

To Jason's point of whether this was intended as a trilogy, I had the same thought just before he said it! Thematically, I would say the trilogy would represent a person who catches a horrible disease (Saturday Night Fever), who goes into remission (Staying Alive), only for the person to have a horrible relapse (Dyin' Lights?). In my mind, the movie would be a revival of Satan's Alley, but they cannot capture the intensity of Tony's performance. He has become a Broadway legend, because he strutted off into obscurity right after his one and only performance. They track him down at the paint shop he now owns and coax him in to returning into the limelight to choreograph the show. He is single (of course) but living on the mental masturbation of his past success. John Travolta reprises his role, but we don't give him a chance to get back into fighting shape. He must also inexplicably wear the show's costumes for 90% of the film and perform all the dance routines to show the new cast how it should be done. I don't think we can get Stallone back, but maybe Joel Schumacher would be interested... I think he would absolutely kill it! I am open to any suggestions anyone might have for an alternate title...Dyin' Lights just doesn't have the punch I am looking for. We can do this! Lately, all these aging actor's are dying to recapture past glories through unnecessary sequels. If we buy enough copies of Staying Alive and "Far from Over" it will raise some eyebrows and generate the required interest. Finally, for future T-shirt ideas I have two suggestions and both require a sweaty, bandanna-ed Travolta in eighties day-glow colors on the front: 1) "Every Step Up movie can suck a dick!" 2) Front: "Is he even sympathetic? *Travolta's face* Reverse: "Oh, heavens no!"

100% agree w/ you! The chauvinism was out-of-control, but I found it watchable. Shoot, by like the hundredth time he stood up the girl who reminds me of Boof from Teen Wolf, I thought the movie was actively trolling me. And I too have, shamefully, downloaded that song. Also Frank Stallone's "Far From Over." When it kicked on for I think the third time in the film I had a real "Aww...Yeah!" moment. I think it may also have to do with the fact that it does it while they are dance-acting Satan's Alley and I refused to believe that they were putting on a show. In my mind, everything happening during the show was actually happening to Tony (i.e. Travolta had literally cast down to Hell and only his spastic dancing could save him). It was a fun viewing

Alright guys, I gave LOL a go. I got to raw chicken masturbation, and.....I'm out. I would rather watch any other movie done on this podcast 100 times in a row, Clockwork Orange style, than sit through one more second of this garbage. Also, in regard to the upcoming Rhinestone, this was the process my mind went through: Rhinestone, Rhinestone Cowboy, shoot can't find that, Urban Cowboy?, it has Travolta, this has to be it, many bitter tears later, wait, the movie WAS Rhinestone! Fuck, you mean I just sat through this for nothing? Paul, June, and Jason, please make this right! I can't stand upon this precipice on my own. It is cold and lonely out here, and the wind howls like the hollow cries of countless souls forever bound in perdition.

So, here's what I want: Paul, June, and Jason writing Sharknado 3: Yup, again...scored completely by Koch Blockerman and Bobby McFerrin doing 60's surf rock covers. I wouldn't call it a deal breaker, but I would also very much like Aukerman and McFerrin's supergroup to be called Scat-illogical. I am open to other movie titles or alternate names for the Aukerman/McFerrin combo....

Paul, What is your favorite worst line in a movie? Could be due to delivery or just the line itself. Mine: The end of Bad Boys 2, when Gabrielle Union's character is told to drop her gun and she says, "Okay, I am going to toss it to you...right next to the mine!" Who the fuck would do that? Why would you warn the bad guy of what you are going to do? And she doesn't even like pitch it at the mine! She slowly lobs it, giving him ample time to move or blow Will Smith's head off. I haven't watched this movie in years, but that line sticks with me. What valuable information has my mind discarded so that I can carry that with me forever? Okay, so that was like four questions.... Of course, my runner up would be from the first X-Men movie. "Do you know what happens to a toad when it's struck by lightning? [beat] The same thing that happens to everything else." Yes Storm, very clever. I thought you might have something a little more zippy, but yes, that is indeed accurate. Now go sit down while we get Angela Basset or Iman on the phone and recast this shit. Thanks for your time, I love the show!
