    Episode 220.5 - Minisode 220.5

Oh, I definitely used to group them by genre too However, thatā€™s mostly because I kept my discs in binders and it was easier to be like ā€œThis binder is for Comedyā€ rather than ā€œThis binder is for movies J through M.ā€ While I miss video stores, I canā€™t say I miss physical media. Even having tossed all the cases years ago, they just take up too much space - especially when I can just go into iTunes or Amazon and just pull up my list. I just donā€™t have the same emotional attachment to a disc that I do to, say, a book or a record. Iā€™d rather make more room for those things rather than my Tango and Cash DVD

Like Paul, Iā€™ve pretty much purged almost all of my physical media, but I disagree with him putting Raiders of the Lost Ark in the ā€œRā€™s.ā€ While it might seem counter intuitive, because itā€™s a part of the Indiana Jones series, it should really be filed under ā€œI.ā€ Also, perhaps controversially, all Bond movies should be filed chronologically and under ā€œB,ā€ and Predator movies should be filed under ā€œAā€ with the Alien series. Ultimately, itā€™s more important that a movie series remains intact than for your collection to be strictly alphabetized.

    The Philadelphia Story

Iā€™m about 20 minutes from the end of the episode so maybe they bring this up, but I think the reason Grantā€™s character doesnā€™t really have an arc is because his arc occurs off camera. During the course of the movie, we find out that one of the factors leading to their divorce was Havenā€™s drinking. He tells (I think Stewart) that he was in a rehab facility (sanitarium) for a few months to straighten himself out. He never drinks during the course of the movie. I feel like thatā€™s what made Tracy drinking so significant. He sobered up and she loosened up. That way they were able to meet somewhere in the middle. (Also, If you two are going to write notes to each other in Sharpie during the episode, you have to at least tell us what you wrote )
  4. HDTGM All-star Chelsea Peretti (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) joins Paul, June, and Jason to discuss the 1993 Nicolas Cage film Deadfall. Recorded live in front of an unhinged audience at The Wiltern in Los Angeles, they talk about the other Deadfall film, deadfall definitions, Cageā€™s Tony Clifton inspired performance, cake, and so much more. Plus, they touch upon the sequel Arsenal, in which Nicolas Cage reprises his role as Eddie King. 5. In defense of Vin Diesel (a sentence I never thought Iā€™d write), from what I understand, itā€™s not that he demands to know what every ā€œI am Grootā€ means, so much as James Gunn had a special script created for him to translate what heā€™s actually saying so he can give it the proper inflection. For example, when heā€™s dusted in Infinity War, according to the directors, his ā€œI am Grootā€ was him crying out ā€œfatherā€ (i.e. Rocket Raccoon)

    The Maltese Falcon

Maybe I missed something (probably), but I never felt like the love plot in The Maltese Falcon was ever meant to be sincere. I just figured that they were just using each other to get what they wanted ĀÆ\_(惄)_/ĀÆ

    The Maltese Falcon

For the record, there are quite a few movies on the AFI List the I would happily replace with Galaxy Quest.
  11. If you think I havenā€™t already Tweeted this movie to HDTGM, youā€™d be dead wrong. We watched:

    Pulp Fiction

Paul and Amy boogie through 1994's Quentin Tarantino indie breakout Pulp Fiction! They revisit the moment Pulp Fiction won at Cannes, ask what this film did right that so many imitators did wrong, and try to figure out what's in the briefcase. Plus: Some of the couples you thought should star in a modern "Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf?" What do you think Bringing Up Baby is about, if you haven't seen it? Episode 218.5 - Minisode 218.5

Amazing! Thank you for sharing this!
  18. LOL - I was like, ā€œOh, Jesus, how long is this thing going to be?
  19. OMG, when the movie started with about 10 newsreels I started wondering if the whole movie was just that - newsreel after newsreel.
  20. For me, I think I might have enjoyed it if I were in the right mood. It was pretty crazy and it definitely needs to be seen by more eyes. I think my brain couldnā€™t handle the juxtaposition from The Boys to this
