    Episode 156.5 - Minisode 156.5

Whelp! I guess I'm out again this week. I tried to watch the YouTube version and the quality was so terrible it was giving me a headache. And from what I did see of it, I don't think I'll be springing for a hard copy. Man! Two movies in a row! That's such a bummer!

Honestly, even if you're reaction was that gif, I wouldn't be shocked. Hamilton is a really high bar. When I first heard it I thought it was just okay, but I probably listen to it more than Hamilton now. Again, not better, just scratches a different itch.

I'm almost afraid to ask since you haven't volunteered your opinion, but what did you think of In the Heights, CakeBug?

What does Bubble Tape have against Bus Drivers? That's some elitist nonsense. And do I really care if my principal can swim or not?

I hated everything about the Surf Ninjas trailer.
  8. ...are you sure? If you've blinked recently you might have missed it.
  9. Based on all the Keanu love on this thread, I'd say the answer is obvious...

We're getting some quality clips lately! Thank you! Also, I've been listening to the soundtrack all day too! Including cruising down the street listening to "Heaven on Their Minds" with the windows rolled down. #judasgotpipes, #hiphophooraysanna, #doesntgiveafuck

Something we obviously need to cover--just not right after JCS.

If it makes you feel any better, that blew my wife's mind too (plus she thought it was stupid). My son, on the other hand, LOVED it. "That's Superman. A weird Superman..."

Yeah, I'm not sure why I hated playing it. I thought it was because of the chord changes, but I just looked them up and they aren't really all that difficult. Maybe it was just all the moving pieces of a ragtime number. Also, I was REALLY into punk rock at the time, so by virtue of how obviously kewl and rebellious I was, I'm sure I just thought it was lame. However, I kind of enjoyed watching young Victor Garber at work up there. I wouldn't mind if you or someone else picked it. I already have the soundtrack (two copies, actually) so it saves me a couple of bucks

    Musical Mondays Off-Week 5 (Cam Bert's Pick)

So while I was watching JCS this morning, I got really hung up on the "The Last Supper." There was something really familiar about it, like, beyond just "Oh, I think I've seen this part before." I was just re-listening to it and realized I played it at least once a month for a few years when I played guitar in my church's band. I don't think they used the same lyrics though...weird. For the record, my church band also did, quite frequently, "All For the Best." (Which I fucking hated playing) Also, I played one gig as Moses' Message Machine--a one and done attempt for my church to create their own Christian Rock Band. I was...not into it.

My eldest is uncommonly well-behaved. Always has been. I think the fact that he was throwing a fit was as much a shock to him as it was to me. I had to actually stop and think, "What do I do here?" But you'll all be happy to know that he has not been a "little bitch" since. His brother on the other hand...

Watching now... Loving it so far. I think Superstar Jesus may be second only to Christopher Moore's Lamb Jesus.

    Musical Mondays Off-Week 5 (Cam Bert's Pick)

My youngest is 6 months, so he barely counts as a people yet. He can watch whatever. As for my 4 year old, I more or less let him guide me. We don't really have any hard and fast rules, and it's really difficult to guess what he'll be into sometimes. For example, I couldn't get him to pay even a little bit of attention to the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie, but he (surprisingly) really liked Doctor Strange. I think if I were to define it, I'd probably say, "Nudity, but no sex; Violence, but no blood." I'm not really too concerned about language. We probably cuss too often, but he's never really mimicked it. I'm more concerned about him getting in trouble at school for cussing than him using any "bad" words. Although, funny story. My son was throwing a fit at school a couple of weeks ago, which was really, really weird. He is like the sweetest kid you'll ever meet and everyone there loves him, but for whatever reason, he just wasn't having it that day. So I put on my stern Dad voice and gave him the whole "I'm disappointed" spiel. And, you have to understand, I'm literally his favorite person in the world, so now he's really upset. As we're leaving, he's still apologizing, and he suddenly says, "I'm sorry I was being a little bitch"--right in front of a teacher! I don't even really say that! Me and the teacher ask, "What did you say?" (Small voice) "I didn't mean to be a little bitch." I'm like , "Great. Everyone just saw me pull him aside and give him a talking to and now they're all going to think I was calling my toddler a 'bitch.' Fantastic..." Anyway, this is a real roundabout way of saying I don't have an answer for you. As a parent , you have a little more freedom to figure out what works on an individual level. When you're talking about a classroom of other people's kids, that's a whole different story.

I know this question really wasn't for me, but I had my four year old watch Singin' in the Rain a few months back and he really liked it. He also just told me that his favorite superhero is Storm, so...good taste all around I guess

What was the decision? Kids or no kids? And if they watched it, what was their reaction?

Count me among the "I'm not sure if I've seen it, but maybe bits here and there" crowd. I seem to remember...tanks.
