    EPISODE 103 — Zardoz

I could be wrong, but I think there was supposed to be an assload of Brutals and the Exterminators were used mainly as population control. I don't think they were ever meant to kill all the Brutals. I think they were meant to instill fear in the Brutals and shear their numbers to a point that they would never get it into their dumb brains to revolt. Then again, with this movie, who really knows?

    EPISODE 103 — Zardoz

I am not sure I get what you are saying here... 2293-1974=319 My point was I didn't few 300 years was enough time to be bored with life. Had it been 5293 then it would have made more sense to me.

    EPISODE 103 — Zardoz

Such is the power of Zardoz! But honestly faye-raye, they did a better job explaining the plot on the episode then I got from actually watching it. I am on record as stating I hated the movie, but I would recommend watching it. I'm not saying you'll like it, but you really should watch it at least once--if only to touch the fringes of insanity.

    EPISODE 103 — Zardoz

I would argue that 90% of this movie is useless, so...yes, they probably are too.

EPISODE 114 — Looking For New Friends!

But!...wait, on second thought, that does sound kind of badass...You're right, I withdraw all my former arguments. (By the way Dan, when you recorded this and you made your "Ithorian Hammerhead" comment did you think to yourself, "Yup, this is what people on the boards are going to want to talk about?")

    EPISODE 103 — Zardoz

Something that annoyed me that wasn't covered on the show was that all of the Eternals seem to possess this smothering sense of ennui that is so powerful that they feel death would be a release, but honestly, would only three hundred years be enough to engender this feeling? There are centenarians living today--without the benefit of eternal youth--who lead happy, active, and fulfilling lives. If the movie took place a couple of millennia from now I might get it, but not after a couple hundred years. Hey Eternals, get a goddamn hobby! Or, better yet, go ahead and have some sex. "But," I hear the Eternals whine, "the needlessness of procreation has rendered us impotent." To which I would provide them an excerpt of my Yelp review of sex, "Sometimes you can have sex and having a child isn't even the goal. Why? Because it's fun and feels pretty good too. Go nuts. P.S. If you're only doing it Missionary, you're doing it wrong." I mean they basically have a power point presentation about how a penis is supposed to work! What the fuck?

EPISODE 114 — Looking For New Friends!

Okay, let's agree to disagree. However, as a counter argument, since there is some debate to the sentience of Kowakian lizard-monkeys let me propose this: A Chiss monk named Grand Admiral Pwnd (nailed it) and maybe Blaine will allow you to have a lizard-monkey companion a la Stargoyle... Consider this: In the land of the Blue Giants, a blue-skinned character can't be anything but useful...

    EPISODE 103 — Zardoz

Man, I really missed June on this one.... And Jason, bro, if you're still in Atlanta and you see a devilishly handsome man pointing his finger at you from across the street, mouth agape, and maybe the slightest shimmer of drool hanging from his lips, don't be alarmed, that's just me I promise I won't make it weird, but I may scream "This is for Zouks!," smash an egg on the sidewalk, and pump my fist in the air.

EPISODE 114 — Looking For New Friends!

Whoa, now! There's no need for that type of language here. Given Dan's extensive knowledge of the Star Wars Extended Universe, I'll wager we'll be seeing his new Chiss Admiral character fairly soon.

    Any other good RPG podcasts?

Out of all of these the only one I have checked out is The Adventure Zone (episode 7 came out today) and it is fantastic! More than a few times I have caught myself laughing out loud like a knucklehead. Thanks for the suggestion! I could not recommend it more. EDITED TO ADD: I posted, but I feel like I should write more as to why this is such a great show. Although, to be honest, I have never played a game of D&D in my life and cannot speak to the game play aspects. The DM Griffin--He keeps the story moving and every episode (in just an hour) feels like a complete chapter. Plus, all of his NPC's are hilarious. Everyone stays (more or less) in character throughout and they seem to get mini character arcs that help flesh them all out. For me, Taako is probably the breakout character ("Abraca-FUCK YOU!!!") and I really hope he finds all the components he needs to fulfill his destiny... The battles are engaging and the players use the full range of their skills and environment to overcome their obstacles. The battle with Klaarg is particularly great and the fight against Brian and Bryan had me laughing my ass off. To a novice, like myself, they explain the rules of 5e pretty clearly, but never get too bogged down with the minutiae. I am not saying it is better or worse than NP, but if you like NP (and you are looking for another show) I am pretty confident you will like this one!
  11. Holy Crap! I wasn't expecting this today! Huzzah for entropy! My life is officially different from what it was yesterday. Now to listen...

    Episode 102.5 — Minisode 102.5

That was more or less my point, although I may not have articulated it properly. Like you, I have zero expectations. I just enjoy them as they come. My response was really to Paul T.'s statement, "It would be nice if they gave us an expectation of when it might happen" and a couple of other posters who said they were checking everyday for the Zardoz episode. Scheer has stated that the intention is to release episodes on Fridays. So, if for whatever reason they miss a Friday (and we all know that happens), no one from HDTGM should really have to provide us with an "expectation" for when it will happen, because they already have: next Friday...probably. If they manage to get it out sooner than that, that's great, I'm just saying I wouldn't count on them dropping an episode mid-week to make up for a missed release date.

    Episode 102.5 — Minisode 102.5

My expectation has always been they will be released on their normal drop day (i.e. Fridays). There have been occasions when they are a little late and put it out the next Monday, but for the most part I think they try to remain consistent. However in this case, since it has already been recorded, they may give us a pre-Valentine's Day gift and release it tomorrow, but I wouldn't necessarily count on that. Bottom line: If they don't have an episode on Friday, I wouldn't expect one until the next Friday. If it comes earlier than that, try to take that joy you feel at receiving such a wonderful, unexpected gift and share it with everyone you meet! This is the answer to world peace people!!! I will gladly share my Nobel Prize with everyone on the forums

Great job, AB! I think I speak for everyone when I say, we all really enjoy your work! Don't worry, we'll all still be here whenever you get the chance to do more!

Best moment since Blaine became DM

Even though picking between these moments is hard, I voted for "Butthole Bugle Bear Blast," as I feel there was such an awesome, slow build up with the Horn of Mangione. Had Blaine said afterward something like, "...and the Horn, having fulfilled its sole purpose in life, dissolves in Lyra's hand," I would have been on Cloud Nine.

    Episode 102.5 — Minisode 102.5

I am going to be contrary--and perhaps controversial--and say not at all. My guess is that when it comes to recommending Zardoz, Jason and June are going to be firm "no's" and Paul is going to be a diplomatic, but begrudging, "yes." Of course, I base this on absolutely nothing, and I may be completely wrong, but that is my guess. We should really start taking bets on these kinds of things. For instance, what's the over/under on the number of times June refers to this movie as "upsetting?"

Episode 113 — Biker Giants are Dicks

I have to admit, I failed my saving throw against stoicism and shed an imaginary tear for the imaginary death of Lyra. She will be sorely missed... I will say, the last few episodes have produced--for me at least--some of the top moments in NP history (i.e. bear head explosion, reanimated Lyra glob monster, etc.) Keep up the great work everybody! When you all have fun, we all have fun!

    Episode 102.5 — Minisode 102.5

Fair enough. I did finish it, but still didn't like it and I really wanted to. This movie feels like it should be right in my wheelhouse. It's undoubtedly a classic "bad" movie, but ultimately it really didn't do much for me. I feel like maybe I am watching it at the wrong time of my life. It's kind of like when you meet that person who never saw The Goonies or The Lost Boys growing up and you tell them, "You HAVE to see these movies!" and once they do they are like, "Yeah, they were okay, I guess..." Maybe I just missed my connection to Context City. What bugs me the most is I am reading all of these comments from people who love this movie, most of whom are regular posters (welcome to the boards, btw) whose tastes and opinions on these types of things align with mine almost 100% of the time, and I am just sitting here thinking, "What's wrong with me? I just don't get it." I am looking forward to the episode though, because I can't imagine it being disappointing. I have some theories about how each of the gang are going to react and I want to see how close I am

    Episode 102.5 — Minisode 102.5

I 100% agree with you, Bride! I just finished it this morning and while I appreciate why some may like it and it's place in the pantheon of bad movies, I simply cannot get behind it. It was like sitting in a bar with a pretentious first year college student and listen to him drunkenly drone on and on about random things he somehow managed to glean in Philosophy 101 and Intro to English Literature. What I feel the movie lacks is the sense of joy and naivete that comes from movies like The Room or Birdemic. When a bad movie is made from such a place of--I guess you'd call it--"innocence," that joy is contagious and transcends its inherent shittiness. Zardoz, on the other hand, is so misanthropic, misogynistic, and handled so poorly, it felt like the cinematic equivalent of Connery describing to Barbara Walters why women sometimes need to get hit for an hour and forty-seven minutes. However, that all being said, I don't necessarily regret watching it--and I really look forward to hearing what Paul, June, and Jason have to say--I just doubt I will be revisiting Zardoz ever again.

    Episode 102.5 — Minisode 102.5

Did you finish? I am taking it in stages. After the "Eternals" sat around watching him rape the same woman on the beach for about the 15th time I felt it was time to move on to lighter fare. So far all I can say is: "yes," it is weird, "yes," it is bonkers, but, from what I've seen, it is also pretty boring and distasteful. Also, Connery in the diaper is funny for about a minute until it just becomes sad. After a while he becomes just a creepy middle-aged man in a diaper with his hairy, middle-aged man skin jiggling around. So much jiggling...

    Episode 102 — Tango & Cash

Absolutely! He yells "Pizza!" like a goddamn Ninja Turtle and swipes a piece. I actually thought the guy with the pizza was the delivery guy--because he was carrying it on his shoulder--which made it even weirder. My thought was, "Hey Cash, if the Delivery guy is leaving with a partially eaten pizza, there's something seriously wrong with it. Congratulations, dumbass! You just got E. Coli."

    Episode 112 — Red Afro

Great episode! Dan, I feel Lyra went out like a champ! Walking into that situation with (I think) 8 HP was pretty ballsy. Thank you for taking the risk. I'm sad to see Lyra go, but I am looking forward to meeting your new character. Are you going to try out another class, stay the same, or are you going to save the big reveal on-air? And to everyone at NP, I just want you all to know you are all doing a fantastic job! Can't wait for the next episode!

    Episode 102 — Tango & Cash

Another thought on gadgets... How practical is it to have a bullet with a built in lock pick? Now I'm no ballistics expert, but I imagine this would render its primary function as a bullet useless, and as a lock pick it is being disguised as an object that, in the event of capture, will 100% be confiscated. So to all the gadget makers out there, just remember, not everything can be a magical "Lennon/McCartney" type combination. Sometimes you end up with "McCartney/West/Rihanna" and nobody wants that.

    Episode 102 — Tango & Cash

I disagree. They TRIED to rip off that joke from Die Hard, what they did was deliver nonsense and gibberish.
