Episode 80 - Warehouse (w/ Eugene Cordero, Tim Baltz, Amanda Lund, Carla Cackowski)
Darbler Cheesegarbler replied to JulyDiaz's topic in SPONTANEANATION with Paul F. Tompkins
I was thinking the theme from Incredible Hulk, but that's probably not accurate. This episode was so fun to listen to, the improv went by in a flash because it was all so funny. I don't think they moved a single box, and I want to know what was inside of them so bad! I was thinking it would maybe be a bunch of sentient phones, a sentient robot army, dead bodies, or maybe a bunch of Thanksgiving, Halloween and Christmas decorations from Amanda's house in Long Beach near the Taco Bell on *bleeeeep*. -
Episode 448 - Master of Horror
Darbler Cheesegarbler replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
I was too busy noticing how only white heterosexual cisgender males are guests today. This episode is just oozing with sticky, gooey privilege. Despite that, great ep. Little Button Puss made me laugh harder and more consistently than most characters/guests. Gemberling's always amazing on Improv 4 Humans too. Also, "my favorite past-time is the 80's" was a really great line from Kirkman. -

Just wondering if Matty B and the other humans would consider these videos to crap on: They are 8 minutes and 5 minutes respectively, so maybe a cut down version of just the most hilarious moments would be best for the show. The Lyft one has been recommended above, but I just thought I'd recommend it again because that shit is fucking crazy. -

"What Went Wrong?" and "Sorry I've Been Catfishing You" are the first two to pop into my head. Oh, and of course the Santa Claus one. Really good, but I thought maybe it was makeup. Dan Lippert's disturbs me more than Drew's, and Ryan Rosenberg's reminds me so much of Christopher Meloni in Wet Hot American Summer. -
Episode 447 - These Are the Worst

^ This amazing post makes it all worth it. Lesson unlearned, I will continue to post whatever bullshit pops into my head especially if it's going to get so much backlash from the trigger-happy social justice crowd. Thanks, friends. -

Episode 447 - These Are the Worst
Darbler Cheesegarbler replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
My original post couldn't matter any less, it doesn't even matter to me, that's why it was a mistake to post it. In the end it's just an annoying picture, not worth accusing someone of sexism for disliking it and not worth defending myself, but most of all not worth posting about (as I acknowledged in the original post). Ah well. -
Episode 447 - These Are the Worst
Darbler Cheesegarbler replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
I'm glad you've enlightened me to my own sexism. If someone is annoyed by an over-the-top avatar, and the avatar is of a woman, that means they are misogynist and threatened by women being funny. This is exactly like being called a homophobic misogynist because I don't think Cameron Esposito is funny, even though I think her wife Rhea Butcher is hilarious and awesome. People like you, Dingus, feel the need to apply sexism where there is none because it gives you a very easy strawman to burn down. I'm not sexist, I think a picture is annoying; get over yourself and your ridiculous rhetoric. Do you also believe that everyone who dislikes the Ghostbusters reboot must be a misogynist who is threatened by women? That's exactly the kind of leap you're making here. I wanted to drop this so bad because it's embarrassing to have these kinds of conversations in the Earwolf forums, but you calling me sexist and saying I'm threatened by women simply because I don't like a picture is impossible to ignore. You're the only one obsessing over gender, gender never had anything to do with it to me. Although I regret my original post so fucking much because of how it affected this thread, people like you make me want to speak my mind more often. I'll just leave it off of the Earwolf forums because this is not the place for this kind of discussion, but your ilk is failing more every day because you don't have a logical leg to stand on. -
Episode 447 - These Are the Worst
Darbler Cheesegarbler replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
I think Kate Berlant is very funny, I said her picture is the worst and it annoys me. Calling that an attack and suggesting it's misogynist is exactly why fewer people take claims like that seriously by the day (see: Zarna Joshi, Annaliese Nielson) and it's more than a stretch, but I realize we're not supposed to ever be negative on these forums. I'm sure it's unnecessary and dickish to post that I don't like a picture, but there's just something about it that annoys the hell out of me and I felt like saying it. I apologize on behalf of the patriarchy if I triggered any of you snowflakes. Now, time for me to listen to the episode! Also it's a bit ironic that some of you get bent out of shape that I said a picture is annoying and stupid, calling that an attack on a female guest, but then you actually do start to gang up to insult someone just for agreeing with the post. It's not surprising though, internet warriors are almost always hypocrites. I hope we can still be friends and that this forum can continue on like I didn't make that post, because I genuinely regret it. I should just keep those thoughts to myself and instead focus on positive things to say. I love you. -
Episode 447 - These Are the Worst
Darbler Cheesegarbler replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
Kate Berlant has the most annoying Earwolf picture I've ever seen. There's something about it that just boils my blood. Haven't listened yet, just felt like saying something honest about something being the worst, going along with the episode title. To be clear, it doesn't actually affect my daily life or bother me in a significant way, I just recognize that it's the fucking worst every time I see it. Maybe I'm just in a shitty mood. Maybe the world is just a shitty place, and Kate Berlant grabbing her face and pulling some stupid over-the-top expression just makes it a tiny bit worse. Maybe this post is the worst and completely unnecessary, but it's too late for that. -
I just had a revelation that the reason I wept when I found out that Harris had died, I believe by opening this thread, and how it affected me for a very long time, is that podcasting can be a very intimate medium. Even though I'm just some random asshole to the people I listen to, many of them feel like my friends and sometimes become my heroes in one way or another. Harris was a bit of both, and I don't think I'll ever forget how the death of a stranger had such a meaningful impact on me. I grew up with Robin Williams as one of my heroes and rolemodels, and I cried when he died as well, but I know that no "celebrity death" hit me as hard as Harris Wittels. I think this speaks volumes about podcasting, or at least a certain type of podcasting, and how much it can connect with people. I hope I can honor Harris by giving less fucks about what people think and doing the things that I think are funny and cool. I hope we all can, because he deserves it and we deserve it too.

Ask Paul!
Darbler Cheesegarbler replied to Paul F. Tompkins's topic in SPONTANEANATION with Paul F. Tompkins
Hello Paul! You're my hero and that's not hyperbole. Is there anything I can do to get a Spontaneanation show in Toronto? Does the 300-person deal still apply, even though this isn't stand-up? Does the 300-person deal still apply to stand up?! Why doesn't the Earwolf store have Spontaneanation pins (something I would buy), but it does have Kulap socks? I have so many questions, but I'll cut myself off there. -
Episode 254 - The Mowgli's with The New Future: Live from UCB Sunset
Darbler Cheesegarbler replied to JulyDiaz's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
I can't believe that Besser and everyone else thought the guy filming the "crazy lady hair salon" video was the crazy one. Has anyone actually watched that video? She is batshit insane. I assume he started filming once this crazy woman started accosting him, not like he walked in to get a refund and was already filming with his phone. I feel bad because she likely has dementia, but I have no proof of that, so fuck her and her attempt to make it seem like he was abusing her before she realized he was filming everything. She started by saying she has a law degree, and then attempted to make it seem like he was assaulting her, and then changed the issue to his bad language, and then directly assaulted him. That tells you everything you need to know, plus she's fucking crazy. Otherwise, really great episode. I've been catching up on Improv 4 Humans and so many of these recent episodes have been amazing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dK-8SGyGRHk -
Episode 446 - Scrounging and Lounging
Darbler Cheesegarbler replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
Kristian sounded like he was doing his best Willy Mapleton impression in a couple of those monologues. I approve. (1:08:53) "My wife... She was there..." "My wife" "My wife" "My wife" "May waife!" "That seems respectful..." The hardest I've laughed at a "my wife" moment. Also, congratulations to Tatiana on the emmy win! Well-deserved, Orphan Black raised the bar for shows produced in Canada.- 54 replies

Episode 444 - Mind Your Please and Questions
Darbler Cheesegarbler replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
This is probably my favourite appearance by Tig. Sometimes her shtick doesn't really do it for me, but it just worked so well in this episode. I think Drew's character dealt with the "no, but" style of "yes, and" perfectly, it really made everything amazing and I wish him and Tig actually went back and forth more with things like that. As an aside and a weird tangent: Tig has made me realize that there's really something to be said for the "no,but" style of improv; it's a great way to force a comedian into a corner that they quickly have to fight their way out of, and if they're good it has hilarious results. I'm taking this as a lesson. This is another episode where Scott is at his best, and I'd say the live tours just up his game so much that he needs to keep doing live CBB shows just to keep him on his toes because, although I've loved him as a host for years, he just gets better and better. You can listen to the earliest CBB's and really enjoy Scott as a host, but many of the recent episodes feel like he continues to hone his persona and find ways to augment any guest that might be sitting in those seats. This episode slipped by me and my recently much-busier schedule, but I'm so glad I had some time to listen to it (and some Improv 4 Humans, the recent episodes have been amazing; honestly some of the best I've ever heard). Also one last thing after this long-wided bullshit: in an episode with a bunch of guests, like a Christmas or anniversary episode, I would actually love that "yeah!" mom character to be a full-time thing, and I bet Tig could commit to it. Also also, one of the best plugs themes ever. -

From the thumbnail picture, I genuinely thought that maybe it was June from HDTGM doing a character podcast.

An episode full of characters who anger and annoy Scott would be great. Like they all got together behind his back and decided to confront him on air. -

I wish CBB was regularly a twice-a-week thing, like Spontaneanation I just can't get enough of it. Haven't listened yet but as soon as I saw Brendon Small as a guest I knew what I was getting into. EDIT: this episode was dick DOUBT. -
Episode 0 - Introducing... Fake The Nation!
Darbler Cheesegarbler replied to Shannon's topic in Fake The Nation
Me too! Cheers. Comedy is a bond we can all share, although the far sides of the spectrum seem to disagree with that too. Hopefully pendulum cat will one day lose momentum and just become more like the "Hang In There" cat.
