I don't think it mattered which one got done, because this looks like shovelware bullshit that was NEVER going to be good, like if Asylum started making kids movies.

Not quite. They did the Smurfs way back in August 2011 (with PFT!!), but it has since been purged from the archives. You can still find in on soundcloud, fortunately.

What I fond really strange is that nobody (as far a I know) has done a straight adaptation, it's always slightly tweaked or pulls random elements from the later books.
