Ribelin2000 23 Posted March 18, 2015 Anyone remember this? A year before his cinematic breakthrough with Die Hard, Bruce Willis, then still best known as the star of TV's Moonlighting, had his first starring role in a movie with this slapstick comedy, directed by the legendary Blake Edwards. The plot: Willis's brother, played by Phil Hartman (RIP), sets him up on a blind date with Kim Basinger, but warns him not to get her drunk, or she'll lose control. But the way Hartman says this makes it sound like a *good* thing. So Willis makes the tragic mistake of getting Basinger drunk on wine, and she, of course, loses control, and destroys Willis's life all in one night. But Willis falls in love with Basinger, and tries to stop her arranged wedding to her psychotic ex-boyfriend, played by John Larroquette. They used to show this movie all the time on TV when I was a kid. My Mom loves it, for some reason. Perfect HDTGM material. Share this post Link to post

SlidePocket 707 Posted July 24, 2015 This film was originally meant for Madonna and Sean Penn to play the leads, but after Shanghai Surprise bombed, they dropped out before Willis and Basinger were eventually brought in. While Blind Date did okay at the box office for Willis and Blake Edwards, their followup together the next year, Sunset, was a dud. Share this post Link to post
