I've only watched part of this movie, but everything about it so far is perfect for the podcast.

It's too slow and too well acted.

But I see where you're coming from; it's cheap, sloppy and underwhelming. However it's also Larry Cohen so it's kind of its own beast and can't be judged next to other movies.
