If you thought 1998's The Avengers ruined Jeremiah S. Chechik's directing career on film, here's the one that he made two years earlier that marked the turning point for him. It's a remake of a classic 1955 French thriller where a man is presumed murdered by his wife and mistress, only for his body to disappear and the women become suspects of the crime.

 

It is Diabolique from 1996, with Sharon Stone, Isabelle Adjani, Chazz Palminteri and Kathy Bates.
