  1. Andrew Bird is such a treasure. I was so shocked when I saw him as a guest on this episode! It's a bit of a shame that he and Jeff have such big differences in personality/energy as it seemed Bird hardly shared his views, thoughts and whathaveyou at all. That said, this episode is still worth a listen and there are definitely some funny moments. If you are unfamiliar with the works of Andrew Bird, get acquainted! He is truly a genius and has some phenomenal music out in the world that he's been crafting for nigh on two decades at this point. An album that fans of both good music and comedy might like is "The Mysterious Production of Eggs" which features some really "funny" songs.
  2. Whoops I made two posts on the two wrong episodes! Gotta edit this one to be a null comment unforunately. The take-away is that I love Tom and his appearances on HH have been phenomenal. He's a great foil to Sean and Hayes' characters.
  3. Really loved this episode and its spiritual (and literal) sequels!

    EPISODE 257 — Dystopian Futures

I agree with some other humans here that the guest section feels very short! I wish I could hear these other funny people for longer, but I respect Howard and Kulap's position at the moment of needing more time for work and less time to produce free content for the masses. Personally, I'd like to see the show be more like the original who charted instead of a hybrid between two and who but that's just me and I bet there are people that would fight me on that! (please don't!) All that said, I still love these podcasters. Kulap has a heart of gold and a laugh that's as contagious as the common cold. Howard is a problematic fave, but how could you not love his world view and ability to twist things every which way and that. And of course, Brett comes across as one of the warmest, friendliest, nicest people ever. Plus he brings his A game to not only this podcast but every single one he takes part in! And he's the only one who likely reads these forums so good on you, Brett! That's been broken for a week! I made a post about it here and got a reply saying they're working on it, so who knows when it'll be back! I don't think I'll be getting an update in that thread, so hopefully someone will make a post about it on the main earwolf page (unlikely as heck) or on the forums (still unlikely). If not we'll just have to keep checking every day. In the meantime, it's a nice way to build up a cornucopia of unlistened podcasts while some of us are forced to listen to music at work. (Quelle horreur!)

Episode 260 — The End Of The Road!

I may be a few months too late to the party, but podcasts live forever in our hearts and on the internet. Thanks for the hours of great conversations, everyone! Loved each episode from start to the middle and then from the middle to the finish!
  6. Good to know! Thank you for the fast response, can't wait to listen to my fav podcasts again
  7. I'm trapped in a hole, but don't send help because I've grown to like it now with easy to read large-print font

    EPISODE 378 — Mailer Daemon

I keep coming back and listening to this episode. It will for sure be my top pick of 2015. So funny. Three amazing improvisers and, dare I say it, FRIENDS, just riffing on each other is so enjoyable to be part of. So many laughs per minute, it must have set a new record.

    Ask Paul!

Mr. Tompkins, what a pleasure it is to be able to write to you with the knowledge that you might actually read this! I'll save the gushing for the end after the questions, so you don't get bogged down by my worship of your genius comedic mind. Question: In one of the CBB's this year, I think Scott mentioned the words "Dark Matter" to which you made an Andrew Bird reference! That's not a question! But what IS a question is this: How much are you invested in the music of Bird? I've loved Bird for years, but he has always seemed like a niche interest, one that most would not be aware of. It was such a cool moment, and no one seemed to acknowledge it on the show. Do you have a favorite album? Have you ever seen him live? What about his music do you like? I'm pretty much a huge Bird nerd, and a comedy nerd, so it would be cool to hear what one of my comedy idols thinks about one of my music idols. TANGENTIAL QUESTION: Andrew Bird was a guest on the Jeff Garlin earwolf program. That interview was a little unfortunate simply because Jeff has a LOT of energy, and Bird is as placid as a windless lake nestled in a peaceful valley. Since a precedent has been set for having Bird as an earwolf guest, would you ever dream of having him as an interview guest for Spontaneanation? Not only are you hilarious, but you come across as extremely thoughtful, and I think you and he would vibe in a way that would be fascinating from a listener perspective. FINAL QUESTION: Were you a "class clown" in school, or did you come into your own in comedy later in life? I was always getting in trouble in school for having an impulsive need to make people laugh. I'm considering taking improv classes this Winter, but I'm not sure if that's a good idea or a waste of time, and I was hoping a master improviser such as yourself could give me a push either towards it or away from it. IN SUMMATION: Here's my 3 questions boiled down to easy-to-reply-to chunks. 1) You mentioned Andrew Bird once, do you like him & how much? 2) Have you ever considered bringing Bird on a guest onto Spont? 3) Are improv classes a good idea for someone who wants to do improv comedy, or should they attempt to do standup/writing/just go for it in improv instead? Gushing: You are a genius. You are so sharp, so quick, and so full of life. Every time you've made an appearance on a podcast or a television show, you've brought so much joy to your part. You are one of the greats, and I really hope that you care about the opinion of some nobody bupkiss like me, because I want you to even feel a fraction of the happiness you bring to me and many others on a constant basis. Cheers, -A Human Being
  10. Eban playing subtle "Dancing Queen" motifs over the end of the show added one too many layers of funny to this hilarious episode. Amazing. Love this show so so much.
