  1. You are spot on with both impressions. I've been to a Room live showing and it was exactly that, picking apart the movie.
  2. Continued: I know Tim Curry was all in on this since he starred in the L.A. stage show that gave rise to the movie. I don't know if anyone else transferred to the screen (other than Richard O'Brien of course).
  3. Has anyone seen the stage production? I saw a revival in the early 2000's and remember thinking I liked it better than watching the movie on its own. I admit wondering what the filmmakers thought when they were making it. For me knowing their intentions would help my enjoyment of it. Like @Cameron H. I bought the Blu-Ray during a Black Friday sale especially because it came with a digital copy. For me the fun is shouting back at the movie. I was doing that when I watched it. Lines came flooding back from my memory.
  4. I knew the people at the church and in it were Riff Raff, Magenta, and Columbia but I never realized the wedding guests were the guests later doing the Time Warp. I saw one face in the wedding guests and thought they looked familiar.
  5. I saw it live without an official shadow cast but there were people dancing at the front and we just basically all had fun. Back then it was only midnight showings on weekends at the local theater. What I loved was there were some trailers beforehand like Die Hard and America 3000. We yelled back lines at those as well.
  6. Now the name rhymes - tayloe and photo
  7. I got stuck on work so I missed the fun. Great choice! I will definitely watch this.
  8. But what did they think about the snooker parts?
  9. I'm having a hard time conveying intent in written comments lately. Please take these as neither pro nor con, just commenting. 1) I got a half-hour in the first time then shut it off when the match seemed set but there was still an hour to go. I also had no captions on and it was very hard to follow. I rewatched it all the way through with captions and enjoyed it. I agree with what people were saying about they really went for something. I viewed it as kind of a Chess-style musical. Trying to build a world then focus on a few people in it. 2) The song "Supersonic Sam's Cosmic Cafe" was my favorite song overall. Like others I had trouble with the strobe lighting and everyone constantly looking down at their video screens even as they're singing and dancing in unison. Seemed to be a very small cafe but busy so I guess Sam was happy. No snooker table visible so where did Billy go practice? 3) Billy was very engaging and earnest. Even when he was sitting back during the match he was trying to show the character's thoughts. I like Alun Armstrong (GBV) as an actor (more on that later) but he varied for me. Early it seemed like he was overacting (especially during the reporter's interview) but then toned it down and I actually cared how he felt about things. 4) I laughed internally that, after all the talk about the high price of tickets and the large crowds watching this match, the final room was just big enough for the opposing "sides" (the Sam's video crowd and the rich snobs). No cameras visible so how were people watching on TV? 5) I was jarred by T.O.'s introduction. It seemed like he was just a side story not Billy's manager and mate. If we had a scene where he left a conversation with Billy and then headed to pay his debts it would have made more sense. I knew the movie was about snooker so a card-based side story was confusing. 6) Lastly, back to Alun Armstrong. I first became acquainted with him since he played Thenardier in the London Les Miserables 10th Anniversary Concert. He played the role perfectly and I would have liked to see him in the full show. I've seen him here and there but most recently in The Hollow Crown, Henry IV Parts 1 and 2. He has the sort of face that I'll recognize him instantly. His performances are usually that I can watch the role and not constantly think I'm watching a specific actor. Once the scene shifted to "I'll Bite Back" he stopped being Alun so much. Here's Alun as Thenardier in the concert. (Added: Alun was in Les Mis or preparing for it around the time of Billy the Kid and the Green Baize Vampire.)
  10. What was the point of T.O.? All I can see is to provide the motivation for Billy to come back and win. Although GBV had to make some mistakes to keep Billy in it. It also seemed like T.O. had a distinctly American (or at least countryless) accent near and up to the end.
  11. Damnit! I was promised a vampire musical! Not a musical about a pretend (?) vampire. LOVED the "Do you concur, Dad?" bit that laid T.O. out.
  12. The version I watched on Tubi TV had "Billy and the Vampire" as the title card. I'll pull a screenshot later.
  13. It’s available on Amazon for rent in SD quality. https://www.amazon.com/Billy-Kid-Green-Baize-Vampire/dp/B07DWJ9VW8
  14. I know what snooker is. ”Oh you’ve got trouble! Right here in River City! With a capital T that rhymes with V and that stands for vampire!”

Carrying over a thought from the preview thread... ”I Kissed A Vampire...and I liked it!” I guess we know what flavor the “cherry ChapStick” was.

I figured through an infomercial like he found Dr. Dan. (kidding) I honestly don’t know but the neck brace had me scratching my head. She wears it throughout but then one time, when he calls her at home, she isn’t wearing it. I think someone else speculated it was to keep from being bitten but then she would wear it 24/7.

It almost seemed like he wasn’t able to consent or given the choice. He was just being a normal horn dog and she bites him. I also thought it was a total cop-out to have Trey bite her. The entire time is a “Will he/Won’t he?” situation and then it’s not even Dylan who bites her!

Not only that but who hears Trey Sylvania and thinks vampire? Would have been more on the nose to call him Hans Sylvania or some such.

Not to mention the director and writer are Chris and Laurie Nolan. I saw a bizarre movie recently that seems to have been a real passion project by the Elfman family (snap snap). I am still amazed that projects like this can get funding and my pet project Cat Scratch Fever (think CATS meets Phantom of the Opera) can't get off the ground. Oh, and Chris Coppola is Dr. Dan.
  21. According to Wikipedia it is the Seattle International Film Festival. (Update: The film showed there in 2010.) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Kissed_a_Vampire
