Musical Mondays Week 68 Dance With Me

Are you blaming this movie on El Nino?
  2. I'm confused. This looks nothing like Vanessa Williams.
  3. My friend lives between Cardiff and Swansea. If I had gone two years ago like I was supposed to there was a big Dr. Who exhibition going on. (Doctor Who is now produced by BBC Wales and films around Cardiff often.) I am not going to make a big touristy thing this time. Mostly soak in the local culture, go for some hikes and hopefully visit Aberystwyth. My friend visited there several years ago and sent some amazing pictures.
  4. You had me at 1990's Vanessa Williams.
  5. Well, folks, I'm back. The foot is 99% healed and things are starting to turn around. I've missed you and look forward to sharing movies and conversation again. The BIG news is I'm flying to Wales this fall! My BFF lives there and it's our 50th birthdays this year so I'm going to mark the occasions with him. The trip coincides with the halfway point between our birthdays so celebrating won't lean too much in one direction or the other. Only staying a week this time but will do a bigger trip later. (I have friends in Scotland and Bulgaria and have a standing invite to visit them. MY BFF says if I go to Bulgaria I go alone. )

Musical Mondays Week 64 The Wicker Man

I can't stay but I wanted to give an update and mention a movie. I still am in the cast and got a gash on my leg from the boot breaking. I get a new boot today as well. The angina has calmed down and the GP prescribed generic Zantac because I guess I've developed acid reflux. That's the main cause of the chest pains. As for movies I saw a promotional screening of The Longshot last night. (The movie itself titled it Long Shot.) It stars Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen but our very own June Diane Raphael gets third billing! She was present throughout the movie and right to the very end. Paul Scheer makes a couple cameos. I didn't see Jason but they might have taken him out like they did in The Dictator. <grin> I really enjoyed the movie. It was funny (raunchy funny) and had a lot of heart. So, once again, thank you all for your concern and well wishes. I appreciate it more than I can say. Take care!

Musical Mondays Week 62 Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Hey all. I apologize for putting you through a stinker of a movie. I wasn't able to contribute much myself this week. I have decided to let my medical issues win for now. I am going to take a break from the forums, both main podcast and MM, for a month or so. By the end of April I will have a much better picture of where I am at health-wise and the steps needed for the road back. I can't tell you how grateful I am for all of you, especially @Cameron H. for his friendship and advising me in many areas, and @taylorannephoto for challenging me when I needed an adjustment. I hope to be back at that point. I have one more pick to make if someone doesn't do it first. Don't hold back from picking it if you want to do it. We need to complete the Alan Parker trilogy. Thanks again all of you. I am very grateful. Mark "Cinco" DeNio

    Trailer Talk

Was that a crazy mind screwer! It was different than I expected based on the trailer but no less insane. I also thought sure the dad was the "friend" from Get Out. Sounded just like him to me. Nope.

Musical Mondays Week 62 Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

The relevant part starts at 8:30 (if the link doesn't take you there). Feel free to watch the entire thing @EvRobert. (It does seem a little funny to watch him praise the movie here.) Remembering Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Musical Mondays Week 62 Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

In the Blu-Ray interview DVD mentions that he's not (or wasn't anyway) a dancer so they had to make the dances easy for him. Given his physicality (thanks for that word @EvRobert or @WatchOutForSnakes) I can't imagine him doing the "crouch/squat" shortly after he comes out of the box and not be a dancer!

Musical Mondays Week 62 Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

This is one of my favorite movies but is one I watch in spurts. I will watch it a bunch then not again for years. I agree it is far too long and there are tons of plot holes (which I hope we can discuss). However I can't get over the Baron & Baroness's duet (who puts an adult woman in see-through lingerie in a kids' movie?) and the living doll parts. Especially where DVD and Sally Ann Howes sing together. I have watched the movie many times but missed a lot that I saw during the Rabbit showings. Thank you all for watching this with me! I have never figured out why DVD pauses during the duet and looks mystified in the mirror. Until last week I never noticed Sally pushing him into the mirror to get him going again. I always thought he just leaned too close to the mirror to look in and hit his head. DVD did an interview on the Blu-Ray. I will see if I can find it or post it later. He talks about the doll sequence and especially Sally's performance.

Musical Mondays Week 62 Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

I found this article where DVD said he didn't like the movie and had turned it down repeatedly. Here's what he said about the accent.

  18. I can also do one this weekend if you want. I can't tomorrow between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. but other times would be fine.
  19. I normally do it at 9 p.m. Eastern but I am flexible. If you want a special showing later I can do that.
  20. @gigi-tastic and I had a great time discussing the movie last night and we had both seen it before! I can't wait for tonight to see the reactions of newcomers.

I was born on August 6 and two days later the Manson murders happened. Hmmm...
  22. I didn't realize Rabbit had closed my room. It's back open.
