  2. Directed by Rodney Dangerfield's son. This should be interesting!

    Episode 187 - Beautiful Creatures

I couldn't believe Zoey Deutch was the bitchy "girlfriend". I loved her in Vampire Academy.

Paul mentions the HDTGM mailing list. I had to Google to find the link. Here it is if anyone wants to sign up. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdJwqKxv3_NiVy1Z3F7Bzkz5h6d4hvQSE3hSrvAuglbJUUw4Q/viewform?c=0&w=1

Musical Mondays Week 37 Blue Hawaii

I'm from the Southeastern part of Michigan. My hometown's nickname was Ypsitucky. (If that helps. A lot of people came from Kentucky to work in the bomber plant during WWII and stayed after the war.)

The Pet Shop Boys were in Rent? Why didn't this come up in that week's discussion?

What was the point of the wedding boat ride? They didn't go very far. All the other guests easily walked to meet them at the end.

Out of curiosity I went to look up the composer for Clambake then compared with the composer for Blue Hawaii. The Blue Hawaii gentleman worked on a lot of note and 4-5 of Elvis' first films. The last one seems to be Roustabout. Look at this IMDB tagline: "After a singer loses his job at a coffee shop, he finds employment at a struggling carnival, but his attempted romance with a teenager leads to friction with her father. " I'm sensing a theme with Elvis. (Cameron H, your IMDB trivia faith is restored.) One other note about Clambake. It was released in 1967, the year he married Priscilla. They had been together for eight years at that point and she was now 22. They would only last for five more.

Wait, Jack is your grandfather? Why didn't you say you had a familial connection to this movie?!?

Be careful Cameron H. You have entered...The Twilight Zone.

    • The slide girl later became a professional ballerina. Are you sure? (Side note, this is Darva Conger's mom. Darva Conger was the first "winner" on Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire?) • Yes, that’s Bill Bixby who walks in at the end. This part landed Bill Bixby the role in The Courtship of Eddie's Father.

Please educate me on the Mickey Rooney thing. I don't think I've ever heard that.

Showing my age here but I remember an episode of Silver Spoons that had the same idea. The son wasn't sure the dad loved him because the dad never "disciplined" his son. The son started acting up with the usual sitcom results. Poor little rich kid problems.

Can I just say that, between Blue Hawaii and Beautiful Creatures, I've had a crazy movie weekend?!

    Plot? Where we're going we don't need...plot.
  19. This got a literal spit-take from me. Well done!
  20. Loved it! Great pick Cameron H. Will have lots to talk about.
  21. Thanks! I need to start learning to rename them for the subject and not just in numerical order.
  22. I'm very much a Greatest Hits fan. Haven't really watched any documentaries or movie. My level of Elvis would probably be Bubba Ho-Tep. I went to Graceland because it was on the way as I moved from Texas to Delaware. A nice side trip with a bonus of eating at Dyer's, a place a friend had recommended.
