Episode 177 - The Disaster Artist

I saw The Room for the first time on Friday night and The Disaster Artist on Sunday. There were lots of fans and the amount of spoons thrown during The Room was INSANE. The Disaster Artist was good and James Franco really disappeared into the role. Usually when I see famous actors I have a hard time not telling myself "I'm watching x play a role." This was very good. Searching around I found that the actors have started to embrace their infamy. One person commented that Juliette Danielle (Lisa) has gotten back into acting and is very engaging on her Facebook page. I found it and she links to two episodes of a Where Are They Now? mockumentary. Here are episodes 1 and 2. Episode 1 Episode 2
2. I apologize. I didn't know the opening song's title. Yes, "Bellbottoms" especially.

Does this mean Paul Scheer is for discrimination?
4. Seconded. That's a big part of what endeared me to the movie.
5. Yes I did know and Plummer got nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance. I was trying to avoid the obvious joke/comment. Apologies if it missed the target.
6. I love this movie. Got a good Black Friday deal on the Blu-Ray and digital copy so I'm ready.
7. I don't agree. I like Elza Gonzalez in her role. Christopher Plummer wouldn't quite work.

Musical Mondays Week 26 The Muppet Movie

My favorite is Carol Kane but only because her voice is so different than what we usually hear (and she's wearing the exact same outfit (as far as I can tell) every time she pops up). Compare her voice with Taxi or The Princess Bride.

Musical Mondays Week 26 The Muppet Movie

When Gonzo is singing about "going back there some day" is he singing about space or just as high as he was hanging from the balloons? Is that a foreshadow of Muppets in Space? Also, isn't it him hanging on to the balloons that crash through the studio roof creating the hole the rainbow comes in? Does he keep on flying?

Musical Mondays Week 26 The Muppet Movie

This has been and continues to be one of my favorite soldier homecoming videos. As soon as I saw the girl stand up and start to walk to her dad I thought how much she looked like Janice (from the Electric Mayhem) in human form. I mean no disrespect to the girl at all. Her love for her dad still tugs at my heart.

That's a myth! Yeth?
14. I should clarify my post about The Room/The Disaster Artist. I have never seen either nor read the Disaster Artist book. I had ordered The Room on DVD and the book when Paul mentioned local screenings of The Room. I will see The Room for the first time on Friday night at midnight in a Philadelphia theater. Local screenings of The Disaster Artist are few and far between so far. My local theater has had posters of it so I assume they'll get it. Hoping to see TDA this Sunday as a double feature with the TCM showing of Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?

Speaking of the parts that flew over our head, the line "I'm no Heifetz but I get by." just hit me. Jascha Heifetz was a violinist. Were there no famous pianists (Cliburn, Horowitz, just to name two) they thought people would get?

For years I had the poster of Fozzie and Kermit singing Movin' Right Along on my wall. However, this was mine because it spoke to me when things were down. I especially love the line "A skunk was badgered. The results were strong."

Just put these on whenever that happens.
19. This is my biggest problem with the movie. She only has 12 days (and she doesn't know that) to get everything done. In Groundhog Day Phil must have had hundreds of days and they showed him slowly picking things up (learning the piano, for instance). Both movies, though, suffer the same problem in that Phil only has the one day to do things. Also, what time did she hit her head? I thought it was mid-afternoon/early evening since she left the holiday party to go shopping. Yet one time she learns Jack is going ring shopping at noon and she shows up. Even if she hit her head mid-morning that gives her less than a day each time since the day resets at midnight. I liked the spritzer lady but both her big moments came in response to Amy so their constant repetition seemed off. At least sniffing the bottle made a little sense even if Amy hadn't said something just before that the first time. The "I spritzed you. You passed out." every other time made no sense because Amy never asked what happened.
