Yes, Bugsy Malone is a riff on every gangster movie ever. As The Untouchables movie didn't come out until 11 years later I figured it was OK to mention two scenes I'd like to see.

I was out sick yesterday so I missed all this. I'd like to see The Untouchables done for two specific scenes. 1) Where Al Capone takes a baseball bat to the guy's head. Would be hilarious to see whipped cream come flying out instead of blood. 2) The carriage down the stairs. Have all the actors be kids except have an adult sitting in the carriage. They'd fit badly as if they tried to sit down and fell in.

It's weird but my favorite is Auntie Grizelda. It was on an album of theirs and I was like "Who ever thought up this song let alone recorded & released it?" [media=''] [/media]

I'm glad Alan Parker learned from Bugsy Malone. The Commitments is one of my favorite movies and they did all the music and singing live (supposedly anyway).

I have heard of them but didn't know the gong was their symbol. I had heard of J. Arthur Rank but only because of my dad's love for old-time radio. I just saw this tidbit in his bio on IMDB: I knew of Odeon Theatres from going to Toronto a lot but starting Pinewood Studios? That's really impressive.

I was listening to the episode for The Last Dragon this morning. They questioned what was in the tank in the one guy's living room. They mentioned something akin to a cannibalistic mermaid. Silver and Golden's mother perhaps?

The first credit is from The Rank Organization. Foreshadowing/comment on the movie's quality? Was Rank their generation's Cannon Films?

I have two Ernie Sabella stories. 1) I got to meet Ernie Sabella years ago on Broadway when he played Amos Hart in Chicago. I was the only one who stood and applauded at the end. He noted it and said, in front of the entire theater, "Give that man a backstage tour." One of the actresses afterward said "You should make him give you the tour." Who was I to demand anything? I left later but kept thinking about it. A week or so later I went back before the show and asked for him, explaining the situation. He came out and I said "Did you mean that or was that just something people say?" He said it was just something they said, made his apologies and went back in. Nice guy though. He wasn't rude about it at all. 2) I had a neighbor whose daughter loved The Lion King animated movie. I told him about meeting Ernie Sabella and that we could go get his autograph. He loved that idea so we made a night of it in the big city. (I lived in Philadelphia then so NYC was just a short train ride away.) We waited at the Chicago stage door and I asked Mr. Sabella for his autograph. He was nice and happy to sign my friend's VHS box. (We pulled out the insert so the signature would last longer.) My friend thanked me for being there, saying he would have never put together the face with the voice.

We've talked about why Adelaide and Sarah agree to get married. I agree that the marriages seem unlikely to succeed. I was thinking this week of the end of His Girl Friday.

Excellent! Then I can pick Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega, the only Bollywood movie I've ever seen.

Last week people said they would hold their comments about Lauren Graham until this week. If they have time to post I would love to hear them!
