1. I always liked the lyrics from Another Suitcase in Another Hall, a song from Evita where Juan Peron's latest mistress was kicked out. 1st verse: "I don't expect my love affairs to last for long. Never fool myself that my dreams will come true Being used to travel I anticipate it But all the same, I hate it. Wouldn't you?"
2. I was expecting him to be the Ted Neeley Handsome figure in this movie.
3. I definitely agree that Dolly made the movie. She took any potentially dark element and made it charming. I wound up watching this in two parts and maybe that hurt things but this wasn't one of my favorites. I'm sure with repeat viewings it would soften my opinion and I'd grow to really like it but first time out was "meh". I kind of saw it as "look how daring we can be! Look how shocking!" I certainly don't remember Jim Nabors ever swearing in any other TV or movie role. I guess maybe a better description would be a paint-by-numbers deal. I will try and read up on the stage musical and what changes were made for the movie. This ran for several years on Broadway so I'm sure I'm in the minority on not caring much for it. Cameron H. mentioned Smokey and the Bandit and this seems to me like the Bandit transplanted. In Bandit 2 he and Frog have definite relationship troubles caused by his ego and wanting to hold on to glory. I see the sheriff in Whorehouse as Bandit 1 & 2 combined. I didn't believe his turn at the end. I thought he was going to reopen the Chicken Ranch when he said he didn't care what people thought. The ending promoted itself as everyone got what they wanted but the girls certainly didn't and neither did Jewel. (I honestly thought the actress playing Jewel was Esther Rolle from Good Times.)
4. I'm not sure I want to know what "Gig'Em" means, though.
5. A&M is an agricultural school. From wiki: "The nickname "Aggie" was once common at land-grant or "Ag" (agriculture) schools in many states." (A&M was started as The Agricultural and Mechanical School of Texas.) However, Texas A&M needs to work on their hurricane preparation. This was from 2005 (I believe).
6. We've gotten way off track the last few movies. Who was Ted Neeley Handsome in Gigi and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes? ETA: The Lure
7. Honorable mention (but why is there a boom mic team? He never said a word in that scene)
8. Hey everybody! What's going on in this thread?

10. I haven't seen this one! Went ahead and bought the stream on Amazon as I'm sure I'll want to watch it more than once.
11. I'm with you. Just couldn't resist bringing in a Jacob's Ladder scenario.
12. The teacher who walked through a car wash in Teen Witch just died. http://deathbeeper.com/4278061.html
13. Given the use of Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend in Moulin Rouge, I think there's another part of that movie that might be instructional in evaluating Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. I think this movie is a Jacob's Ladder scenario on the part of both ladies, stemming from their line of credit being withdrawn and being kicked out of the hotel onto the street with no money. The ladies returned what they could (although they had to walk a lot back to the various stores) and took the money and had to stay in a flophouse or similar low-rent digs a la Moulin Rouge or La Boheme (or Rent). They got jobs as singers but weren't paid very much, certainly not enough to let them keep living like they had been when Gus was financing them. They caught cold (or "consumption") and perished. The happy ending is them fantasizing how things might have been.
14. I can buy that because something similar happened a few years later. I've been watching a lot of What's My Line? on YouTube and Dorothy Kilgallen died under similar mysterious circumstances. She was working on an expose of the Kennedy assassination and was in reasonable good health. Her last appearance on What's My Line? (hours before she died) is available and she looks completely normal. Here's a quick NY Post article about a book released late last year. http://nypost.com/20...got-her-killed/ Here's her last appearance on TV.
15. Well, duh. Lorelei is too. That's how they can change their voice for each song (or in the middle of a song).

17. That article was amazing! I never knew that diamonds were only popular in the last 80 years. Kind of like how lobster used to be served to prisoners and now is a delicacy. ETA: This also potentially explains why I only remember diamonds being mentioned in the movie.
18. Count me on Team Dorothy/Lorelei as well. That's what really made this movie for me, their genuine friendship and love for each other. I wasn't completely sold on Dorothy's love for Ernie Malone but I did really like his "You don't mind if I like you better?" line and her "Well we settled that argument in a hurry." response. That was playful and fun. I could see Lorelei's love for Gus but it still seems like an odd pairing. I would like to see the prequel where they meet and what makes her decide he's different than the other millionaires. As to someone else's point about "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend" being an odd number for the movie, was any gemstone besides diamonds ever mentioned in this movie? Surely if Lorelei was the "I'll suck up to you if you give me jewelry"-type wouldn't emeralds or rubies do just as well? I suppose it could be a budget decision so only diamonds had to be used but still... Lorelei's taking things potentially too far for the tiara didn't make sense to me until just now. When she first sees it she says something like "I love finding new ways to wear diamonds." I think this was literal. The tiara was new so it had be hers. Plus maybe she figured if she hadn't heard of one before then others in her circle hadn't so she could "lord" it over them? Not sure.
