  1. When I hear Treat Williams and Beverly D'Angelo the first thing I think of is Manchester, England.
  2. That means I can pick this for my next one. Oh, wait, it's not a musical. I still like it.
  3. So, wait! This 2016 movie ISN'T the one we're watching?
  4. Well if this IMDB description doesn't clarify it I don't know what will.

That's good to know. Thank you. We never see him in any other class. The study group each takes their special subject to outline but I assume the students still have to attend. Don't they?

Oh crap. Now we're all going to get billed for this response.

Musical Mondays Week 89 Rock, Rock, Rock

I just finished The Paper Chase. I welcome your comments because I am not sure about it. It was similar to Fame (or vice versa) in that a group of students push through a trying school (Harvard Law in this case) with varying degrees of success. (Like Fame it also spawned a successful, entertaining TV show.) There is an attempted suicide, dropouts, and one student we follow throughout. This movie has better focus since it only covers the first year. On the other hand I find it less satisfying because I know he has more challenging years ahead of him. If he thought the first year was tough just wait! The story is also like The Jazz Singer in that the character runs away from people who care about him and then comes back and they’re fine with it. He sort of redeems that in the end but it’s a drop in the bucket compared to his assholery. I would give it 6/10. I am glad I watched it but once is enough.

I’m taking @Cameron H.’s suggestions for my weekend project and am in the middle of The Paper Chase now. Will watch Edward Scissorhands later or tomorrow. I HAVE to watch them in the proper order. It’s a moral imperative.

THAT is the textbook definition of a deep pull.

    Canceled LA Show

This is awesome. The stars of Hamilton jump into a Some Good News episode to surprise a fan whose Jacksonville show was cancelled. The Hamilton part starts at 8:30. Make sure to watch the full video after the "credits".

    Canceled LA Show

For me that's very true. Back in the 90's my dad and I got tickets to see Harry Blackstone Jr., the magician. The show was postponed several times. One time we'd even driven well over an hour to get to the theater just to find out it had been postponed yet again. The last time we were getting ready to go. My sister said "Didn't he die recently?" We looked it up and, sure enough, he had, from pancreatic cancer.

Arabella was played by Fran Manfred but I can't find any age info. Apparently she was also a singer around this time.

We've commented on Tuesday Weld's age but her friend must be similar! God they look like little kids not high school seniors!

I wish I had seen this yesterday. I am not exactly sure what an aircheck is but I know disc jockeys keep some as portfolios and for memories. Here's one for Alan Freed from 66 years ago and a day.

Musical Mondays Week 89 Rock, Rock, Rock

From IMDB: "This early rock and roll feature, the 3rd in a series of 5 starring Disc Jockey and Rock N Roll impresario Alan Freed".

Could Alan Freed have been a less-inspiring salesman for this? He even "sang" the lead in one song and I was cringing the entire time.

How do you think she got the name Mrs. Silky? She was all smooth up front but would go medieval on your ass if needed. She must have been the only dressmaker in town at this point. "Nice dress shop you've got here. Shame if something happened to it."
  20. So have I. I'm more ashamed that I knew the actor you mentioned is Larry Drake without having to look it up.
