  1. I just signed up for the Amazon Prime monthly membership to replace Netflix. I want to watch AtU, Airborne, Highlander 2 and several others I'm missing from the HDTGM podcast. Thanks everyone for helping me pull the trigger. Side note for the name discussion: DeNio is my real last name. At one job a person started calling me Cinco (a la Cinco de Mayo) and I liked it.

Musical Mondays-Week 4-Beauty and the Beast

Slightly OT but since I live near Philadelphia... I always liked Ben Franklin's mother-in-law mirror. Hang it outside the 2nd-floor window over the doorstep. You can see who's at the door and if anyone's coming up the street from either direction.

Genius. I have nothing to add except the obvious absurdity where a character speaks a foreign language, some translation device is introduced to another character and the first person's mouth magically changes to the translated language. Brilliantly deconstructed in Mel Brooks' To Be or Not To Be. Paraphrased: "In order to keep the audience from being confused Polish will no longer be spoken for the rest of the picture."

It's not perfect but Can I Stream It? is a good start. http://www.canistream.it/

OK, You talked me into it. I'll PM Cameron with the one musical I want to do but I think it's limited in conversation. Still off-the-wall though.

My friend and I saw the 1946 Cocteau movie and both thought this was how Belle felt. It was SO obvious she liked him better as the Beast.

Not for musicals but if you ever do the classic movie rotation I want in. I'm not familiar enough with musicals to suggest any.

But that's not what he said! He distinctly said "to blave." And, as we all know, "to blave" means "to bluff," huh? So you're probably playing cards, and he cheated—

Not to mention that Belle will never be in his shop again in her lifetime because she'll never finish all the books in the library she was given! (Sorry, just discovered the thread and am late to the party.)
  10. Thanks! I'll watch the 90-minute first then. I appreciate economy as well. I have a DVD of Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet but at times wished he had released a 2-hour version.
  11. Serious question. The video you embedded is 90 minutes long and the first sidebar link on YouTube is almost three hours. Is the extra length worth it?
  12. Spoiler alert: She dies
  13. That's because he watched the wrong version. He was supposed to watch Cocteau's 1946 movie.

Has Quadrophenia jumped the shark when it appears on PBS? http://petetownshend.net/news/classic-quadrophenia-premieres-on-pbs
  15. She's lookin' at you Cameron H.

    Episode 144.5 - Minisode 144.5

I thought they were talking about the Cirque du Freak movie when I first heard Vampire Academy.

Episode 143 - Gods of Egypt

I don't have much to say except about the Man of Steel-level of violence as far as impact on ordinary people. Massive columns fall (and people show themselves to be graduates of the Prometheus School of Running Away from Things). Massive buildings fall and how many people get hurt?!?!
  20. The Dread Pirate Sengh perhaps?
  21. Agreed. His laughter added as much to this episode as everyone said Pete Holmes' detracted in the Can't Stop the Music one.
  22. I fell in love with June all over again with how she said "more, more" at that point. Can I have that on an audio loop?
  23. Throwing away all the good will I've accumulated today, I think Hauptmann-Koenig translates to Captain Chekov.
