  1. What I don't understand is why this movie is so dark and serious. CATS is meant to be fun and silly. Heck, the stage show breaks the fourth wall all the time. This show is meant to be for kids, so I have no idea why this movie is so sexual. It's alienating your biggest market! I heard many parents walked out of this thing after 10 minutes.

    Is this movie available anywhere?

Strange, I bought this movie on iTunes years ago and it isn't on their store anymore. It isn't available in the US for whatever reason. It isn't available for streaming on Amazon either. Did Neil Breen fight to have it removed from all streaming sites or something forcing everyone to buy it from his crappy website?

  3. Classic lines from Ebert's .5 star review.

It's an excruciatingly incompetent entry in the "Basic Instinct" genre, filled with lines that only a screenwriter could love, and burdened with a plot that confuses mystery with confusion.

When it comes to eroticism, "Body of Evidence" is like Madonna's new book. It knows the words but not the music. All of the paraphernalia and lore of S & M sexuality are here, but none of the passion or even enjoyment. We are told by one witness that sex with the Madonna character is intense. It turns out later he's not a very reliable witness.

  4. I drove me crazy how little Lili Taylor and David Duchovny seemed to care about their daughter. They took their daughter's absence so lightly that I almost forgot she was a character sometimes. They should both be heartbroken that their daughter was so close yet so far away. I also don't get why both of them just assumed that their daughter would come back one day as if it was a given. Should Lili Taylor just decide what college her daughter is going to? What happens when their daughter gets back? She'll be in a major she never wanted! Lili Taylor was so careless with her daughter's life it was crazy!

  5. I just thought it was because they were immature doofuses... ;)/>

I can’t remember exactly, but isn’t that when Tom tells Ian that he is fucking his mother? Even if that’s not the exact moment, I think Ian feels like he and Roz are “in love” and assumes that Tom is just playing around and will eventually hurt his mother. And, of course, from his perspective, Tom feels like Ian is just fooling around - little suspecting that his friend is actually “madly in love” with his mother. In all honesty, it might have just been that Tom made a dumb joke about the situation that Ian didn’t like.

It’s about intentions and hypocrisy. I feel like it’s also about juxtaposing their mothers’ oblivious complacency with their emotional turmoil (I.e. quietly laying on the beach while their sons fight in a raging sea). Just because something you do isn’t - in the strictest sense - wrong, doesn’t mean their aren’t, or won’t be, repercussions. Even though everything seems alright, these relationships are taking an invisible toll and forcing character relationships to evolve. This is why the movie resets so often. Every time things get settled and the characters reach some level of homeostasis, a new complication arises and everyone is forced to - once again - reassess and change. The end of the movie is the culmination of this evolution.

However, ultimately, like a lot of the movie, I feel like that scene is left deliberately vague so the audience can make their own assumptions. This is all just what I personally got out of it.

It would help if this movie had more than twenty minutes of dialogue and that is a generous estimation.

  6. Not so much at my facility where there are no gangs due to the classification system of the facility as a Sensitive Needs Facility.

Another question, how in the world does the prison staff deal with the constant paper the inmates throw down from their cells? That must be a nightmare to clean up.

  7. 175 million budget and it only made 15.4 million opening weekend in the US and has a 26% on RT. It's a medieval epic no one wanted or asked for. The studio wanted this to start a six film franchise with the possibility of spinoffs. Like Gods of Egypt, it's a disaster in every way. A perfect choice for the show I think.

  8. Can someone make a gif of the horrible kiss at the end? I sorta missed it.

I'm happy they addressed the fact that no one in this movie used time travel for personal gain or tried to use it to help someone. Drove me crazy. That was the first thing I thought of. I'm glad they mentioned Early Edition. I completely forgot about that show.

Personally, I don't think the dog was behind the magical mailbox. It was obviously Global Warming.

  9. Whyyyy is this movie not available to rent?!?! I finally have the time to watch an HDTGM movie but I'm not sure I can spend $10 on this shit in part because of how much I HATE this premise. The plot made me incredibly anxious just thinking about it when it came out. Not sure what I found so bad about it because I can get down with sci fi/fantasy and even time travel but I just HATED thinking about it for some reason. Maybe now that I'm not just generally wracked with (untreated) anxiety it won't bother me so much (here's hoping...).

AND as an (almost) neuroscientist I will say that I have also heard the theory the EHL caller gave about foot fetishes - namely that the genitals and the feet are right next to each other on the cortical homunculus, and this might lead to some relatively easy cross-wiring or common mix ups of some kind. I also cannot comment on the validity of this theory, but I will say that if you want nightmares you should google "cortical homunculus"

VUDU has it available for rent at 2.99. Don't buy this movie. I promise you that you will regret it.

  10. Lake House is next level bonkers and I am glad they are going to do it. It will certainly be more interesting to talk about then watch.

Did anyone notice how many times someone talks about Global Warming in this movie? Seriously. I think it's mentioned at least 20 times. Did Al Gore co-write this movie?

  11. Did anyone else catch that before the priest died, he prayed and admitted to God that he molested boys? Something like that. He also admitted to quite a few other things as well. I guess in the eyes of the filmmakers, Catholic Priest = Child molester and hypocrite.

Anyone have any idea what the hell this is supposed to symbolize?

My best guess is that this is like Evangelion and the movie just throws in religious symbolism to look cool regardless of how much sense it actually makes.
