Yeah my HS only had banners of State Championship winners (which was mainly arts winners; Orchestra, Choir, & Band and Indoor Percussion/ Guard won the most State competitions in their divisions. I think softball won twice and only last year I think Basketball won a championship). We had no crazy big poster of closeups of the "team" members. Maybe if our football team won a championship I could see that happening. To go off what others mentioned earlier.. in my high school they always made Football the biggest deal / priority, which was funny to me since our football team was not that great. Any "arts" accomplishments would be a side announcement to the main announcement of football or basketball making the playoffs, etc..

Yes--I thought it was weird too that he said "she was cute". When yeah he's into Gabriella and also she's trying to ruin your chances of getting into this musical you want to be in so bad. Did he have to say anything nice about her? If he's just trying to convince his friend he's getting into the musical for a girl--why not say it's because Gabriella is cute? & no, I have not seen.. and I think it's funny now whenever someone mentions Luis Guzman the first thing that comes to my mind now is Teen Witch, thanks to HDTGM

maybe the drama teacher knew you couldn't split up Sharpay and Ryan? cause of their creepy incesty chemistry? (eww) So it had to be them or a totally different pair?? I do want to point out I was watching as my bf was getting ready for work. So he did watch a good chunk of it too. I was surprised he even was paying attention, let alone genuinely laughing at anything in this...He did like Sharpay and was legit laughing at her dialogue (not ironically) and he said Ashley Tisdale was the only good actor in this..

I remember some girls in band liking it. And some of my other friends who were actually a year older than me. I know some enjoyed it but knew it was "bad" and they loved it for that. But some did actually like it. I didn't love this but I did laugh at some parts..sometimes genuinely but mostly because some things were cringe-worthy laughable. I don't think I enjoyed the songs, and barely remember any of them (and I watched it Friday). The only song that stood out for me is "Get your Head in the Game" --that one was catchy. Otherwise, the only other one I kind of remember is "Status Quo"-- but only for what the point was, don't remember any of the lyrics or melody.

Nawh I can vouch for this... I was a sophomore in HS too when it came out, and I remember people talking about it and good amount of my friends liking it. I just avoided watching at the time.

Yeah I didn't get it either when I found out it wasn't his singing voice. He didn't have sweet basketball skills either. IMDB says:

I thought it was funny that Troy's basketball buds were the most upset about Troy wanting to be in the musical...and they were some of the best dancers. I think they doth protest too much.

someone in the Explanation Hope asked how Paul felt about people talking/ heckling in the theater. I agree with this & what Scheer said... sometimes it is OK if it's genuine and/or actually funny. I (very rarely) will have "loud" reactions while watching movies in the theaters. I don't like people talking or having their phones out in movies either, so I don't want to be one of those people...but there have been genuine times where I have not been able to control myself. I saw the Phantom of the Opera (one with Rossum & Gerard Butler) in the theaters. And at the scene where she took off his mask to reveal his face, I kind of screamed lol. not too loud or anything but obviously heard since people in the theater were laughing at me. And then recently when I saw Don't Breathe in the theaters...

LOL I loved it. I was not expecting a marriage proposal from Scheer this morning. LOLOL. love it. but guys, I'm OK. I know what love is. I guess I did not properly express how I did not buy that Kate and Alex were in love, cause nothing in their letters made me understand that...to justify the long roadtrips to the mailbox.

I took lessons/ played a bunch of different instruments in elementary school. But I played flute from 5th grade--most of high school. Learned/ switched to french horn my junior year in concert band, so I could march Mellophone (marching french horn) my senior year. I wish I had switched to a brass instrument earlier in my HS band career, the brass kids were wayyyy more fun than woodwinds (haha) Plus I really liked the french horn

Yeah, I think it may be more fun to talk about ones that have some issues or are leaning more towards "bad". but then again everyone in here can have varying opinions so maybe picking more towards "good" OR "bad" won't matter? I'm not sure if this is what you meant (it's what I thought at first, but now I'm wondering if I interpreted wrong), but I am curious about this any way.. Since we're doing High School Musical... were any of you guys in theater/band/orchestra/choir/any sort of "arts" classes in high school? I have a feeling like a majority of you guys are creative people, so I was curious.. plus with us all liking musicals I wanted to know some of your guys' creative/music "roots"
