    Musical Mondays Week 9 Pete's Dragon (1977)

I'm not a huge fan of marshmallows to begin with, but I def don't like the texture combo of the sugar coating with the marshmallow. Cadbury caramel and cream eggs, I do like.

You peep people are weird.. haha no, but I do that to gummy bears, I like them hard / little stale. So I can understand..sort of.. But you can make peeps joust in the microwave?? I was going to show a pic of them all expanded earlier, but found this out... My sister never did that. She just sometimes eats them all melty.

gross, lol. I always gave my peeps to my sister, because she is a disgusting person and likes them. She also likes to microwave them, they expand and become a gooey gross mess.

Episode 160 - The Lake House: LIVE!

Yea--Alex isn't very smart Kate, you sure you want to be with him? Maybe he's a real dum-dum and thought Jack was leaving paint pawprints throughout the neighborhood?

Episode 160 - The Lake House: LIVE!

I noticed in the scene near the end of the movie, where Keanu's brother told him it was Valentine's day...and Keanu goes "valentine's day 2006?" I am pretty sure they ADR'd that in. it looks like he actually said "valentine's day 2004?" Because his mouth doesn't match up. The people making this movie could barely keep the timelines straight..how are we supposed to?

Episode 160 - The Lake House: LIVE!

And sorry if this was mentioned in the ep and I didn't realize / forgot.. but in the movie she is the one who tells him the dog's name is Jack... and Keanu, once he reads Sandy's letter, says "Hello Jack" and the dog acknowledges the name. Shouldn't Keanu be telling her what the dog's name is ?? since he had the dog first?

Episode 160 - The Lake House: LIVE!

You're right, but then (like they said in the ep) she could've tried looking him up in her time. Like she expects him to meet her at that restaurant in the present, and gets upset he doesn't show (he has a pretty good excuse..being dead at the time). I understand if she wanted to get to know him more before meeting him. But once they come up with the plan to meet for dinner...She could have googled him or attempted to find him herself? And cut out the mailbox once she realized she wanted to meet him. She would have also been able to figure out he was the one who got hit by the bus sooner. And too, in the end of the movie when she finds out it was him who was hit by the bus...maybe I'm wrong...but was she in Chicago at that point? Did she have to rush and drive 2+ hours to write the letter to warn him? Also, by then she had been ignoring him and not writing back.. if she hadn't written him for months (or more) would he still be checking the mailbox that often? He wasn't living there at that point either--and probably would have to drive a distance to check in on the mailbox? I was surprised she was able to warn him. (I could be wrong with him not living there, while watching, the timelines got me fucked up-lol. But I don't think he was since he gave the keys to the lakehouse to Morgan to have Kate live there)

Episode 160 - The Lake House: LIVE!

if he wanted to start a new life, he should have asked her about winning lottery numbers, sports game winners- so he could place winning bets.. so he'd have plenty of money to start a new life. (I know they brought this up on the ep a bit) But I do think that would be a better movie.

Episode 160 - The Lake House: LIVE!

I wanted to point this out too... it's insane that she's doing that much driving. How many times is she visiting the lake house a week? That is some dedication to drive all the way there to hangout by a mailbox for a little bit, get some one liners going back and forth, and then drive home 2+ hours.

Yeah from Oscar winner to falling in the mud AND falling in oil. But both of those are better than swimming in baked beans... (poor Ann Margret)

    Musical Mondays Week 9 Pete's Dragon (1977)

sorry, wasn't trying to end the discussion (but know we usually get thru it quick). I wondered too if Pete was their first & only orphan. or if they had others before..that maybe they murdered and ate? Some of those lyrics in the first song were cannibalistic and made me wonder if they ate children. I could see it being an orphan kid's braid

    Musical Mondays Week 9 Pete's Dragon (1977)

I want to thank everyone for watching or rewatching PD! It was nice to revisit this, but obviously it's more fun discussing with you guys. And know I'm new to the boards (maybe not so new anymore?) but it's been cool to get to know everyone and you guys have been so nice So thanks for making me feel welcome! I lurked the boards for awhile, but MM is what pushed me to finally comment in here. Looking forward to watching & discussing more musicals with y'all (& of course more hdtgm movies)

Ahh that must be what that 5 star amazon review was referring to that "she's woman"

    Musical Mondays Week 9 Pete's Dragon (1977)

I can't take credit for it just popping in my head. I forgot, too, any musical aspects of it. I have a list of ones I knew off the top of my head-- ones I like/ love. But I was also considering picking one I had never seen. So I looked up lists for inspiration. Saw PD on the list, vaguely remembered "I love you too". Figured it wasn't on anyone's radar for a pick and I was wanting to rewatch it anyway since I was curious about the new PD (which I'm glad I didn't see in the theater)..

    Musical Mondays Week 9 Pete's Dragon (1977)

No I feel you, cause honestly going into this I thought there was going to be a lot more cartoon Elliott. The only memory I had of PD, before revisiting now for MM, was Pete feeding Elliott apples and them playing tic tac toe on his stomach. But then once I rewatched, memories came back about everything else.

    Musical Mondays Week 9 Pete's Dragon (1977)

The 1980 vhs version was only the cut-down version released ? and any after that were still the over 2 hours film? I still think the version I watched as a kid was this long ass version (probably a 90s version vhs copy, I'm a 90s kid) cause pretty much all the songs came back to me as I watched and I remember the Gogans in the beginning. http://disney.wikia...._Dragon_(video) < this lists all the releases on vhs, dvd, bluray No excuse for me, I still loved this long movie as a kid haha

Some interesting trivia on the imdb page: I'm glad they didn't go that route... with no cartoon Elliot or only at the end

    Episode 159.5 - Minisode 159.5

I think you almost "won" the Body Parts mini--and Paul messed up your name somehow?-- but Baby Cakebug pulled through as winner

    Musical Mondays Week 9 Pete's Dragon (1977)

So were Dr. Terminus & Hoagy trying to go legit? With wanting dragon parts to make money (money money by the pound)? Since they were known for ripping people off, giving faux-remedies to people town to town. Did they really need dragon parts? Couldn't they have just sold fake dragon medicines? Unless they were tired of ripping people off, and wanted to actually help people?? Maybe their intentions weren't too bad, but they just went about it the wrong way with luring Elliot, trying to snatch him without Pete's permission/ giving up Pete to the Gogans'?

    Musical Mondays Week 9 Pete's Dragon (1977)

They all have mustaches (think Jeff Conaway's is a dirt mustache there though -lol) but no creepy blonde mustaches like from Cabaret. And we established Cam Bert's mom is not for wispy blonde mustaches. (Max was the character's name right from Cabaret?) So all could be TNH but I'm guessing either Terminus or Paul too.
