    Musical Mondays Week 9 Pete's Dragon (1977)

I was not sure about the time period 100% either, but did assume it was a bit earlier too... I agree, I guess if they had paperwork and it was widely accepted at the time they have a case. And I thought too maybe Nora was going to throw money at them to make them go away / settle their whole thing about paying $50 plus legal for him. But also fuck them because they were awful. Maybe they hadn't (or were going to do) all the things they said in their songs. But even just saying that shit would be emotionally traumatizing and mental abuse. "put his head in the river, let the pup drown.." "gonna paw him, claw him, saw him in half" "beat him, heat him, eat him for dessert" .."fill him full of lead" like damn..

To go off what I said earlier about some of the actors over-doing it. I think Mickey Rooney & Jim Dale (Dr. Terminus) may have slightly been over-doing but in their cases I appreciated that. They definitely weren't phoning it in. I enjoyed their performances and especially Dale's as Terminus. I think Hoagy (Red Buttons) was trying a bit too hard to bring a similar type of performance as the others were. And I dunno it was a little too much sometimes/ a little cheesy but that probably does play better towards the young audience. But otherwise he did a better job with his performances in the songs. But when he had just straight dialouge he went a little too far?

The Gogans' songs and "Every Little Piece" stuck with me the most after watching-- of course the dark/ twisted ones haha. It wasn't until listening to the songs on Spotify afterwards that I realized how catchy those two and "I Saw a Dragon" were.

Yeah, "Candle on the Water" wasn't one of my favs, and agree was kind of boring. But it was nominated for an Oscar for best song. The thought I had when she was singing "There's Room for Everyone" was that obviously Trump has not seen Pete's Dragon, lol https://youtu.be/PqE1Wzo_vZg

Lololol... I wonder if the movie was an unpleasant ordeal? or if it was the receiving the Dvd in the mail? and if the five stars was for the shipping or for the movie? I can understand either way.

Yeah I liked the Gogan songs.. and really liked Dr. Terminus & Hoagy's "Every Little Piece" song. When it started I was like "ohh shit" cause I remember it clearly as a kid, but guess not what the point of the song was--that they wanted to use Elliot's body parts for medicine.. Their first song I did not like at all, the whole bit about Dr. Terminus not knowing the name of the town got pretty old / did not need a whole song about.

I agree with you on these points. Elliot was adorable and I totally prefer this Elliot to the furry CGI one. I could have used more Elliot and less of the side storylines they were trying to include. The Paul storyline was weird, and I agree they probably felt like they had to justify why she was an attractive unmarried woman living in a lighthouse with her drunk dad. And yes, they should've stuck with one set of bad guys. Or just leave the Gogan's in the intro like I said earlier to establish a little backstory for Pete and leave Dr. Terminus & Hoagy to be the end bad guys. They didn't need the Gogan's help at all.

I want to point out, the scene when Lampy & Hoagy are in the cave and they give Elliot the flask to drink-- when I was a kid and watching, I thought it was juice they gave him. Haha

Yeah she was.. and the dragon shaped outline holes in the school walls. How could that have been Pete? She saw it wasn't. Can Pete see Elliot when he's invisible? and read Elliot's thoughts? it seemed like when he was invisible Pete knew exactly where he was and talk/ respond to him but you didn't hear Elliot say anything.

Probably the cycle of abuse... he was abused so he maybe couldn't help being kind of mean to Elliot. But to be fair Elliot did cause a lot of damage. Breaking people's fences, putting dragon footprints in the wet-cement, making dragon-shaped holes in the walls of the school.. so I dunno maybe did need a little berating.

Lol. It's not close to Tommy level for me. Tommy truly upset me on many levels.

maybe with some cinnamon, etc..? so it's more like apple pie innards. Just a hot apple without spices, I'm not really sure about..

Yeah, they could have been only used in the beginning to establish that he was an orphan who was sold into slavery, purchased by that abusive farming family. And that's why he ran away. The Gogan's did not really need to come back--the movie had a lot going on.. it didn't need two sets of bad guys at the end.

But to the movies credit, I did enjoy a few songs and have been listening to this week. I haven't had any songs from a pick stuck in my head since JCS...so I can't totally chalk up my enjoying it to nostalgia.

    Musical Mondays Week 9 Pete's Dragon (1977)

Yeah, I thought the nostalgia factor may be at play (for me at least).. Cause I didn't totally hate it, but when watching I could see if it was a first viewing for anyone, had the potential to hate it. It was kind of cheesy..and I think some of the actors were over-doing it (some in a good way--to me at least.. and some more leaning towards doing too much/bad) It was long, and like Cameron said too many things going on for a kid movie. But I did like this one more than the new updated version, that one I had a hard time finishing even with the shorter time. I liked the relationship between this Pete and Elliot a lot better than the updated version.

    Musical Mondays Week 9 Pete's Dragon (1977)

Just to start off.. I didn't really remember anything from this movie beforehand, since I hadn't seen it probably since I was 5 or 6. But as I was watching it came back to me. Every scene and song, as soon as it started, it all came back. What I didn't realize as a kid was how dark a lot of aspects of the movie was... I will say a good amount of the songs are catchy as fuck, and it did help me get Paula Abdul out of my head...lol Revisiting now, I don't think I love it like I think I did as a kid. But overall, I had a good time revisiting this.

Musical Mondays-Week 4-Beauty and the Beast

I liked it but I didn't reeeally like/love it. The new songs I was kinda "meh" about and probably could have done without? It's been awhile since Ive seen the original but has been one of my favorite disney movies since I was a kid. My friends and my siblings all loved it though, maybe my expectations were too high?
  20. Yes! One of my all time favorite Simpsons eps
  21. ....Cakebug started it... I just didn't stop myself
  22. agree...I always thought he looked good in Grease So when I found out who he was I was shocked
  23. OMG yes, I did not realize while watching that it was him...I only realized when listening to some of the songs on Spotify cause they gave him credit and I was like "whaa"--so I looked it up. I couldn't tell it was him, he looked nothing like himself / Kenickie (and PD only came out a year before Grease)

    Episode 159.5 - Minisode 159.5

Lol, you'll def be OK to watch this weekend. I watched over a month ago and it's still with me.. It is a hate watch. I spent a lot of time trying to keep track of plot points and timelines.. which I probably shouldn't have, since the movie didn't give a shit about it, lol Excited for the podcast ep, and curious about who the guest is
