  1. I agree about Faye-Guy..it was too soon after the break up and felt rebound-y. The ending is what lost me, otherwise I really liked TTYD. And that sucks about Embry I always found him lovable in tv/movie roles I've seen him in. My image of him is now tainted knowing he's douchey I think you mean : he should keep it to himself and not call the Explanation Hope Line.. (I am really hoping for some anti-jerking off calls to the EHL next week)
  2. Exactly! (& another one of my favorite Simpsons eps).
  3. Same. I really enjoyed the movie, up until the end. The Guy-Faye romance too I was like "wait why?". I think I would have liked it a lot more if it ended the way SaraK mentioned too. Think that would have worked better.
  4. I agree, I kind of felt bad for him. Even though I know he was a dick. He was the one who was pushing to make new music. And everyone else was blowing him off. So I did feel bad because he was the only one who seemed dedicated to the music. The rest of them seemed ok just being popular / doing whatever to make a quick buck. And Jimmy was right, if they wanted to continue to be successful they'd have to focus on making more music / other hit songs besides "That Thing You Do". Even if they didn't break up in the end, I felt like they probably would've still ended up as a "one-hit wonder". They probably would've kept doing what they were doing until they lost all their momentum and weren't relevant anymore. I did too. I really enjoy anytime I see him in a movie / tv show. And really like him now on Grace & Frankie (with June)
  5. I thought it was funny Ethan Embry's character didn't have a name. He was just "the bass player /T.B Player"

    Episode 163.5 - Minisode 163.5

    also agree
  7. please don't shrew this, I can't take the puns anymore either
  8. Ryan and Sharpay just reunited and sang "What I've been Looking for" They start singing around 4 minute mark He still has a strong hat game
  9. So Fievel threw his hat up on deck because he saw fish?? He sees water is coming from the deck..that's obviously not a good sign. I don't get why he thought it was a good idea to go up there?
  10. Think J Biebs has seen American Tail and was inspired by Henri?
  11. The instrumentals are definitely important / great. I'm not taking that away from La La Land. But I remember the first time I listened to the soundtrack, I was kind of shocked how few 'song' songs there were. Like only 1/3 are songs with singing in it. I guess it just felt like there were more, but there weren't And then with a couple songs that are singing songs (the first two mainly) I thought could possibly have been left out or did not really drive the plot or character development a whole lot. But I'd def say and everyone else considers La La a musical. Just making this comparison, since I wasn't sure why American Tail would be barely considered a musical.
  12. I mean, La La Land only has 6 songs in it if you're not counting the instrumental/ reprise songs.. and it has a longer run time than this. (and one is the John Legend song/ song at the concert). I really enjoyed La La Land, plz don't kill me- lol. Just pointing out.
  13. I am not 100% sure if I watched this as a kid. I feel like maybe I had once, but I definitely don't have nostalgia tied to this movie. But..maybe this is my first viewing, cause I am sure I would have remembered those cats in the beginning. They def would have scared / stressed out kid-me
  14. Confession: I haven't finished watching this yet. I don't know if it's because it's dark and I've been in a weird mood lately, so I didn't finish? Or if doing the DLM challenge is getting to me and I'm in a movie slump? But I'll try to finish tonight, if I don't pass out when I get home from work. Reading this article (http://mentalfloss.c...t-american-tail) I found out that* without An American Tail, Dreamworks may have not ever been created: *Also Siskel & Ebert thought this movie was depressing AF
  15. Think hulu and amazon prime too!
  16. One of my favorite Simpsons eps. "I see you've played knifey spoony before."
  17. I know I mentioned in the Sleepwalkers thread and the recommendations thread---I really want the gang to cover: Another example of a bad King adaptation, but it's a fun bad imo.. The plot alone I want to hear them go over..but also.. most of the actors are chewing the scenery and I want to hear their thoughts on the eating noises. And I agree with everyone in the recommendation thread, Joe Mantegna is basically Fat Tony in this.
  18. So I was catching up on Project Runway seasons last weekend. Talking about Tisdale reminded me that I wanted to share, but forgot.. Tisdale was a guest judge! I was a little surprised the judges thought this one was in the top (compared to some others): But not that surprised that Tisdale loved it, cause I thought it was right up Sharpay's alley, lol. It doesn't look as sparkly in this pic, but it was super sparkly. EDIT: we hit 600 posts in this thread
  19. I used to really enjoy comedy movies, but feel like in the last few years the comedy movies coming out don't do it for me at all. I don't know if my sense of humor has changed as I got older, or that comedy movies are geared more to a younger audience? Or if they really have been crappier lately? It's been rare in the last few years where I really liked a straight comedy movie, and this one was an exception for me. So I really did want it to do better.
  20. Could be.. feel like they could be less able to laugh at themselves? But It wasn't just making fun of Bieber & Beliebers though. So maybe it came across that way in the ads / title of the movie? Ahhh that's probably why. I do think they're at fault and it should have been promoted more. Feel like it could have and should have done better :/ LOL
  21. A more recent one for me was: Budget: $20mil BO: $9.5mil I saw it in the theater & really enjoyed it. I feel like maybe it was not marketed well? Cause I didn't hear about it at all, I only saw in theaters because my sister & her boyfriend are huge Lonely Island fans and brought me with to see it. Or maybe I didn't hear about it since I only watch stuff on Hulu/Netflix/Amazon, etc so I miss a lot of ads? Plus, Scheer makes an appearance in it.
  22. Same.. I haven't watched My Stepmother is an Alien yet. I'm not sure if I will.. I've been trying to keep up with all the movies for the podcast this year, but idk.. I don't feel the motivation to watch it tbh. and I agree .. even the "bad" MM picks have been better/ more fun than podcast picks lately (mostly)
