At the risk of being unpopular, I didn't really like this movie much at all. It was a chore to get through. I can respect it for its acting. Kevin Kline really surprised me out of everyone. Other than the scene with titular choice and one of the scenes of Kevin Kline viciously berating Sophie, this didn't do anything for me. I can respect it but otherwise a big meh. I don't know if I just wasn't in the mood for this kind of movie when I watched it. This one just felt like homework.

I haven't seen any of them (except Deck The Halls last year for HDTGM Classics). So, I'm down for whatever except for Deck The Halls). Is the plan for December 7?

This is a shame because even in her early mediocre movies, she's still fantastic. Why is she not getting good movies (besides Hollywood not having roles for older women)? Certainly any casting director would want to short list her for any older woman roles in their movie.

I didn't want to get into this in the main episode but the earthquake scientist reminded me. I was kind of confused at everyone's reactions to Skyscraper I'm comparison to San Andreas and Den Of Thieves. Skyscraper is terrible but I thought it was so dumb that it was fun in parts. San Andreas I thought was super dull throughout even though it did make a slightly stronger family connection with Rock, Carla Gugino, and Alexandra Daddario. I really don't understand Jason's love for Den Of Thieves which is low quality Heat but isn't low quality enough to be fun. So, it's just a second rate action heist movie. Has anyone else seen these movies? Am I wrong? Should I revisit these movies?

Yeah. The Pearl is really weird because it honestly feels kind of low tech for something that is supposed to be futuristic. I thought it was going to be some X-men Danger Room type thing but it never was more than shitty hall of mirrors. For a building that is so cutting edge technologically, why was there that scene where they kept saying that no one lived on the floor Rock and Neve live on? Wouldn't this building definitely have a record of where people live? Or motion sensors? Which also makes me wonder why were Rock and Neve even living on that floor? It was partially open to live in other floors right? Was every apartment taken? Rock's business was operating "out of his garage" How could they afford to live in, what I assume has to be, one of the most expensive apartments on Earth?

Neve was just heartless. Think of that scene in the elevator. There is a moment that should be emotional. Neve and the boy could easily die. They might never seen Rock again. Rock says "I love you" and Neve says "you better". This may be the last time you see each other. This isn't the time for sarcastic one liners.

Speaking of the helicopter, there's a scene where it's "too hot" for the helicopter to be near the burning building, but Rock can just hang there from the side of the building?

Probably my biggest problem is that the movie would make so much more sense if The Rock already had the job he interviews for in this movie. The entire villain plot hinges on The Rock getting the tablet that day. It means he has to ace the interview which would definitely be highly competitive. It means the building owner would just give him the tablet immediately. BUT if he had been working there a while, he would already have the tablet. It would explain why his family is living in otherwise uninhabited floors of this building. It would explain why The Rock and his family know the layout of the building so well. You could easily have Rock's friend from the FBI visiting him to see how successful he is after the incident. That way you wouldn't need the bizarre plot point that the FBI friend who is now a criminal somehow set up the interview. You wouldn't need Rock to say he's "working out of his garage" which he clearly isn't.

Yeah. I'll be honest I don't know enough about who can authorize these things. Maybe i'm just being overly pessimistic but good knows the last two years have only helped to remove any optimism I might have had.

The democrats aren't in power yet though which is why he's doing it now instead of in January. He didn't need to openly obstruct justice (well, more so in this case) because a republican controlled congress wasn't going to do anything. Why bother if you believe you're untouchable.
