I'm glad that guy called from Hamilton, Indiana. I didn't hear them say where the city was. I tried looking where that scene was filmed because, if you're leaving Chicago for Indiana, you aren't going to ever be in the middle of nowhere. The metropolitan area of Chicago spills well into functionally all of Lake County Indiana. Unless you're actively going somewhere that isn't near northwest Indiana, no one would ever be in a totally rural area like that. But, even stranger is that the Blues Brothers area going south. Hamilton, Indiana is in north east Indiana. They're is literally zero reason to go from Illinois to Kentucky by way of Hamilton, Indiana.

So, what does allowing the forum to send me notifications do? I keep ignoring the popup in case it will do something I find support irritating on my phone. -

Wasn't the heat wave declared a natural disaster? Or is that just a sensationalized translation? -

Not too happy about how he glossed over MBV but I can understand being too tak about Loveless. Genuinely one of the absolute best albums of all time. And Hop Along is probably my favorite band of the last decade or longer. They are starting the second leg of their tour this Saturday and you should definitely go because they are great. They are super nice and buy all their albums. -
Nashville is way better than MASH which I also hate. I liked Network day more than Who's Afraid Of Virginia Wolfe?

Normal, Ohio was pretty rough and over the top at the time. I assume that performance has aged very badly. -
Not entirely sure what I'd remove yet, but No Country For Old Men and There Will Be Blood certainly belong.

There is still time to change your pick to coincide with a limited theatrical re-release this weekend of a forum favorite. https://www.fathomevents.com/events/across-the-universe -

As someone with regular floor seats for the Blues Brothers 2000 show, you disgust me. -

This is all great and explains to me why people are let down with the sequel. I guess I just glossed over a lot of the silliness in 2k because I see the original as pretty silly but it's definitely more grounded. -

I'm 100% willing to go with this. It's one of those death by a thousand cuts situations. It's the same but not as good. I guess my biggest issue is I just don't think it's *that* much worse or the original is *that* much better. However you want to say it. Maybe that's just a matter of taste and I don't get the extreme love for the original. That's fine. I'd like to hear what someone like Cakebug thinks since we know he's a huge fan of the original. -

I'm not sure I totally buy this. Belushi is great but I'd argue John Goodman is an excellent actor and can play anything including Belushi if he wants. So, he is a theoretical perfect replacement. -

I've got a genuine question since we covered Blues Brothers on Musical Mondays: why is this movie garbage and the original a classic? I think the original is pretty good and 2000 is kind of bad. But not such a stark difference to make 2000 one of the 25 worst sequels of all time. What's this one missing? What's the original have that the sequel doesn't. -
Would we count The Great Train Robbery as an action movie? It's action is pretty tame by today's standards but It's easy it qualifies.

Not to take away from the stunts in The General but his whole career was this crazy if not crazier. There's one movie in Sherlock Jr. where Keaton rides a motorcycle on the handlebars without a driver through traffic. It's such a ridiculous stunt. I don't know if it's more dangerous than all the train stuff in The General but it certainly seems more dangerous as you watch it. Maybe I just like Sherlock Jr too much to be objective about The General.

They were and they tried to explain it wouldn't be like what literally everyone thought it would be like. But, fortunately, the public shaming convinced HBO to stop.

I get it but I heard so many people who still can't figure out what "that" is. I should have expected more from everyone here. Admittedly, it doesn't make much defense with Meat Loaf because cheating isn't generally considered something you do for your partner. "I love you which is exactly why I slept around. That's a thing I'll do for love"
-
Paul, please see some of Buster Keaton's shorter films not eligible for the AFI list. Sherlock Jr. and Seven Chances are both way better. I've seen The General a couple times and I don't feel it's his best work at all. The General was the first Buster Keaton film I saw and I thought I just didn't get it. But from a laughs per minute aspect, he has so many better films.
-
For Hall And Oates, the "that" he can't go for is giving his soul. Right before the choruses he sings "you've got my body/now you want my soul/don't even think about it/say no go"
-
The "that" he won't do is cheat on her. The woman in the song sings "sooner or later you'll be screwing around" then he sings "I don't do that. No, I won't do that."

Land of Talk is such a good band and I feel like no one really knows about them

I have a Vudu account for the handful of DVDs and blurays that come with free digital downloads. It was just the easiest service to use for that. But I found I never use it. I suppose it's nice knowing I could sell a handful of blurays I have.

Musical Mondays Week 43 Piya Behrupiya
grudlian. replied to Cameron H.'s topic in How Did This Get Made?
This is the type of show that is probably way better seeing live instead of taped. I expect it just loses something in the translation to a television screen. I also am not a big fan of very broad comedic acting which is basically all the comedy this has. It wasn't just big, overacting faces but they'd punctuate it with sound effects. That was just too much for me. But, that made the moment went Viola does of her mustache that much more affecting. I thought she was great in that scene. EDIT: looks like Cinco said exactly what I said w I was going my comment. So, I agree completely. -
Paul has never pronounced my name correctly either. I'll let it slide because he pronounced your name the way I was pronouncing it.
