I thought I had it but I must have borrowed it from the library. I can try checking after work if its checked in and try hosting unless someone else had plans to. -

So, this is going down tomorrow night right? Does anyone have a copy of the movie? -
Why did they change the theme song?

Thank you for saying that. I checked a handful of studio episodes. It's in 161 Fate Of The Furious. -
This the first and last time anyone will ever say that.

The reality set in after I got the 10pm ticket. Hmmm...I do have a 3+ hour drive home at midnight now.

Why did they change the theme song?

Am I remembering wrong, but wasn't there an updated rap theme song with more recent HDTGM movies? Am I crazy? -
I get the feeling Rodney Dangerfield is going to go the way of someone like Henny Youngman. You'll know some of their jokes, but people won't remember the origin. Both have expertly crafted one liners, similarish material but it hasn't aged well (Youngman more for sounding hackneyed than offensive I think). Comedians respect them both but the style of humor is too dated fro audiences even if I can appreciate the craft.

You may want to walk back that Tupac didn't rap about disrespecting women. His views on women could be described as complicated or conflicting. Listen to something like Wonda Why They Call U Bytch. I get what he's trying to sry in that but let's say it's problematic at best. -
Musical Mondays Week 33 Preview (The_Triple_Lindyโs 1st Pick)

This will be interesting to watch. I know Is large chunks of this as a kid, but I'm not sure I've seen all of it. I remember thinking it was weird as a kid and had to be told who a lot of the people were. It will be strange now that I'll recognize the stars. -
To add to this, why does Rodney Dangerfield give Matthew advice for turning down boys? Obviously, they wanted another homophobic joke, but how much time is he expecting Matthew to dress as Martha outside of soccer?

My understanding is all the players are objectively terrible. So, switching out players isn't going to make a huge difference. These girls seem to old to be at the age that everyone gets a chance to play though. So, I dont know.

Right now, both Fridays good with me. I watched this last year and it was unusual to say the least. I listened to a bit of the commentary and the cast really thought every aspect was hilarious. -

A couple things about this movie related specifically to my childhood. 1. My best friend lived at this intersection. 2. I vividly remember the marketing for Ladybugs was definitely geared toward kids. A local pizzeria similar to Chuck E. Cheese/ShowBiz for a slightly older audience had a meet and greet with, I believe, Jonathan Brandis. I did not attend, but I vividly remember them having hand drawn posters advertising it when I went the week before the event. I wanted to go because it meant meeting a movie star. But I also knew my parents weren't going to take me to this place twice in one month and I never asked.

I'm definitely not running through my numbers again. Since we agree on 1981 and the top 3 years, let's just say that's good enough.

Musical Mondays Week 32 Hustle & Flow
grudlian. replied to Cinco DeNio's topic in How Did This Get Made?
PollyDarton is right. DJay is just saying Ludacris was just good at rapping. But "flow" can also be a bit more nebulous if you're talking about rapping. It's also about the way a rapper constructs words over the beat. The rhythm, cadence and how the words relate to each other. Here's a really good example in my opinion on flow using different versions of the same song. Listen to the first 30 seconds of this video. http://www.youtube.c...Q2T_FR8Nk=0m19s It's Soulja Boy, so, it sucks in general but it sounds perfectly fine. Nothing notable. But listen to the exact same rap over a different piece of music. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRCEgD1nRRM&t=0m15s Doesn't Soulja Boy sound like he was born to rap over that beat? He emphasizes every beat so well. It just flows better. That's flow. -
But I'm a nerd and I have already started this project. It looks like we both had some mistakes in there and neither of our year counts were correct. There are a couple movies with hard to nail down release dates due to limited releases in festivals, video only releases, etc. I decided to go for first showing/availability of any kind in the USA. So, I believe this is now the final list but will welcome any corrections. 5 movies: 1993, 1994, 2001, 2002, 2009, 2013 6 movies: 1986, 1989, 1992, 2003, 2006, 2010 7 movies: 1985, 1987, 1988, 1991, 1995, 2012 8 movies: No years 9 movies: 1996, 1997, 2011 One interesting side note is that the movie Dragonheart was announced in a minisode but they pulled an audible with The Boy Next Door. If we count Dragonheart as an HDTGM movie, 1996 has 10 movies. 1981 is still a year without an HDTGM movie though.

I'm sure your spreadsheet is more accurate than my notes written on scrap paper while I watched tv. I used wikipedia because it was easier on my phone than using imdb forcing me to switch back and forth between apps. imdb is certainly a bigger stickler on release dates than wikipedia. I'll check my results against yours when I get home because there's a bigger discrepancy on some years than just a movie with a late release date. We are both consistent on 1981 though. So, I think they should try to get something from that year.

EDIT: HEY EVERYONE! IGNORE THESE NUMBERS BECAUSE THEY ARE WRONG! I HAVE AN AMENDED NUMBERS LATER IN THE THREAD! I looked into which years have the most How Did This Get Made? movies. Here are the years with five or more movies: 9 movies: 1987, 2011 8 movies: 1995, 1996 7 movies: 1985, 1989, 2012 6 movies: 1986, 1991, 1992, 2003, 2006, 2010, 2013 5 movies: 1988, 1993, 1994, 2001, 2007, 2009 Since 1980, two years have not had a single How Did This Get Made movie. 2018 for the obvious reason and 1981. I have a some possible suggestions for 1981: Nobody's Perfekt, Going Ape, Carbon Copy and Heartbeeps. I've seen Nobody's Perfekt and Going Ape but it's probably been 20 years since I saw them. I liked them as a kid but they have probably not aged well. Carbon Copy and Heartbeeps both look amazingly bad.

Rodney Dangerfield did make an opera movie. It's called The 4th Tenor.
-
Were you able to get tickets too?
-
Yeah! I was there right at noon and it kept saying seats were sold out for every section for both shows. But now I have one for the 7:00 and 10:00! It was a real rollercoaster of emotion.
-
So, could anyone here get tickets? I tried every section and I couldn't even get a single ticket.
-
Just letting people know there is a presale at 9:59am (central time?) March 1. That's tomorrow, one day early.
-
I hope How Did This Get Made is able to keep its current status with rotating older episodes and tge Howdies still being available but, I doubt that will be the case this time.
