So, was Nic cage related to Amber Heard in any way? Were they together the whole time just because she has a cool car? -

I thought those random dudes were people from the forum and I didn't know their names. -
Yep. I watched this a few months ago and I'm not watching it again for $14.99. I definitely don't remember enough to do any comments on it.
-
He said it was on YouTube but it's not in any truly watchable version. It was on Tubi TV last year but its no longer there either.
-
Maybe he thought we needed a second hear of Second Sight.

Have you seen Nothing But Trouble as an adult? I liked it the one time I saw it as a kid. I was kind of surprised when I heard the episode on it. I certainly didn't remember it being gross. I eventually rewatched it a year or two ago and was literally nauseated seeing it again. The dinner scene in Nothing But Trouble is worse the dinner scene in Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

As someone who lived that life for a very long time, I feel that pain and sympathize. -
Basically, yes. Stuart Pankin asks Bobby what is in his pocket. The bad thing is that Stuart still has to lead him to the answer because of Bobby's poor grasp on English. The even worse part is that I don't think they ever confirm what was in his pocket. We just accept that Bobby was correct without seeing the boat with a crest on its sail. I thought this might be leading to the entire thing being rigged and Bobby pretends to be psychic as a way to drum up business. But the reality is it's just lazy writing. The worst part of all is your insinuation that Johnny Carson/Karnak aren't actually psychic!

I saw it in theatres. It's interesting. I can see why it has fans but its crazy. My main takeaway was that the 3D was really good. -
Musical Mondays Week 29 Preview (EvRoberts’ 2nd Pick)
grudlian. replied to Cameron H.'s topic in How Did This Get Made?
I'm that way too. If Matthew Lillard hadn't turned things around for me personally the last few years, I might put him as the weakest choice. He was typecast with Scream and She's All That. Acting is so reliant on audience perception, I understand why people get stuck in a type but I can't always stop myself from falling into it either. With Jim Carrey and Robin Williams specifically, I've heard it's much easier for comedians to go serious than the other way round. -
Musical Mondays Week 29 Preview (EvRoberts’ 2nd Pick)

I'm just as shocked by Alicia Silverstone. If you were skiing me to cast a musical, an adaptation of Shakespeare or a musical adaptation of Shakespeare, they wouldn't be in the conversation. Even in the year 2000. I'm not familiar with this play though. So, maybe they are the right choice. -

This Friday is good with me. -
All this for sure. John Larroquette is handsome. I read an interview with him from the last couple years and he seemed intelligent, erudite, very bookish and well read while still down to earth. Maybe if he weren't Dan Fielding he could have been? To maybe make this a little more on topic: Why wouldn't Stuart Pankin just keep goobers on him at all times? Seems like the kind of thing you wouldn't leave up to chance if it's the only way to calm down an empath.
-
Are we arguing John Larroquette is not a good looking man? Or just not a sex symbol? I'd argue he is attractive. The posted photo is pretty 1980s and that may not be appealing 30 years later. I'm sure middle aged women in the 1980s probably thought he was pretty good looking. Looking at a recent picture of him, I'd say he looks better now. I'm not sure John Larroquette was ever really marketed as a sex symbol. Maybe I'm splitting hairs on the definition of sex symbol. Dan Fielding (and I think that's where this reputation truly comes from) had a lot of sex with a lot of different women. He was also portrayed as being desperate, getting turned down or slapped by disgusted women he approached, sleeping with blowup dolls and, I think, prostitutes on occasion. Not really sex symbol behavior or reputation. Especially if you compare him to other middle aged men sex symbols of the 1980s like Tom Selleck, Harrison Ford, Richard Gere or Burt Reynolds. The closest modern equivalent I can think of is Barney from How I Met Your Mother. Obviously, it's a bit different since we know Neil Patrick Harris is gay, but was he pushed as a sex symbol to women in the early days of How I Met Your Mother?
-
I've sen a friend of a friend say they thought John Larroquette was really hot. She is the only person I've ever actually heard say that. Im curious about that because the lecherous scumbag want Dan's original personality. He was originally just conservative and mildly horny. It wasn't untilI season 2 or 3 that he really took off as as sleaze bag.

On the poster, that's a flying saucer right? Could there possibly have been an alien subplot that was cut? It seems unlikely given the writer strike but its such a dumb thing to put in the promotions for a movie with nothing about aliens in it.
-
You didn't miss much. Literally every note I took while watching it twice was covered in the show. Even down to almost putting me to sleep the first time.

I'm pretty sure we're talking about the same video/article. I definitely remember that wrote about otaku never looking at people. I get wanting to be separate from a lot of anime because it's so much is trash. It feels like he's being a tad snobby (deservedly so) like the people who insist they don't watch cartoons because they watch animated shows. But, I don't know, maybe there is more distinction in Japan than we have in the US on what defines anime.
-
I know I read something once where Miyazaki essentially said the problem with anime is anime fans. I haven't seen him argue his work isn't anime. As someone who is largely not into anime, I'm curious what his argument was because I'm #not sure what the differentiation is.
-
Thank you, Paul for shutting down Jacob's Ladder scenarios. I'm curious how long Paul was attempting to fool anime fans he liked anime despite saying "Mizayaki".
-
The version in Second Sight is also a cover. It was originally by The Lovin' Spoonful.
-
Not even Monster Trucks? You really missed out.
-
Yeah, I definitely get that. As someone who doesn't ever go in the toy aisle, now that I'm seeing produce with Star Wars on it, I feel like it's bigger than ever. Not just ice cream but BB8 oranges or whatever. I just wonder how much money did Disney spend and is this truly influencing enough people to buy oranges to offset that cost? I don't know. I don't really care about it. It just seems a bit silly is all.

People have been talking about Marvel and superhero fatigue since Avengers 2 at least. I'm certainly tired of them or, at best, they have very limited effect on me. After the next two Avengers I'm probably done with the movies. The Netflix shows I'm done with except Jessica Jones 2. Your point still stands that Marvel is putting out something every few months compared to once a year but I certainly don't need a new Star Wars every year either. I don't watch tv except online. I see a movie or two a week but I worked at a theatre and skipped trailers. So, I see no ads (for example, I never saw a Last Jedi trailer) but even I saw Starr wars branding on everything. When I see billboards for limited edition Star Wars paper towels, ugh, get fucking real. That's too much Star Wars.
