I'm only 35 minutes in but why is literally everything CG or airbrushed to hell? Milla Jovovich's face is so soft in shots that her face blends in with her hair. I thought that maybe Ultraviolet was based on an obscure comic I had never heard of because of the opening credits.

Just a giant living balloon rubbing a furry cat. It should be shooting lightning in every direction.

I just embrace it and become one with the cat fur. It's easier that way.

I agree with all this. The first 20 minutes or so, I was loving this. Then I just stayed losing interest. I'm not entirely sure what I would cut to tighten it up but shortening would help. Everyone in the movie was great though. Even knowing she could sing from Frozen, I don't think I've seen KBell actually sing. She was amazing. Alan Cumming was the other standout in my opinion but I guess that should be obvious since he's a standout in everything. -
The answer is a bit above my pay grade. I'm not necessarily privy to how much we make off of an individual movie. I'll say it varies movie to movie, week to week. Deals are made all the time by a film booker (I'm just a manager). The most I typically see film rental being high or low. That information is not really applicable to my daily job. So, I don't look into it and I'm sure higher ups wouldn't give me exact figures anyway. I don't know if we, on average, make less than we used to. I assume what happened is someone suddenly realized we had people passively looking at a blank screen and more money. Its another revenue stream but I don't know if it's to offset loss of income. When I started we had a slide projector running slides with ads before the movie. You might remember dumb trivia questions or rearrange the letters to the name of a movie or actor. These slides typically had ads already. You're reading movie trivia but its brought to you by Coke or some other company. So ads of some kind have been on movies since at least the mid 1990s. Eventually tech just got better making this possible or just easier to put videos instead of slides. Freejack might be the hardest to find yet. At least Virtuosity and Garbage Pail Kids were on YouTube. I can't find Freejack on Netflix's DVD shipping or my library even. Used DVDs are on sale on Amazon. That's all I've found outside of piracy.

Finally, something I am an expert on. I've worked in the theatre industry since 1999 (until next week when I start my new job!!!!). We definitely play commercials before movies. That started, in my area at least, around the summer of 2000 or so. What this guy might have meant is the order being different. Commercials typically start before the advertised show time and trailers play after the advertised show time. If this person always shows up late, it's theoretically possible he's never seen a proper commercial. But even then, there is, for most theatre chains, still an ad for Coke immediately before the show. Some independent theatres or small chains may not do this. I've only been to one theatre in the last 20 years that doesn't have commercials but it's super independent and only plays older films.

There should be one for mispronouncing your name and one for the elusive pronouncing it correctly. I'm not sure if being called a segregationist a dozen times in an episode should be a space or not. That's a question for Cameron H.

HDTGM Classics Vol 4 The Last Airbender (11/10 9PM EST)

I think next Friday is probably fine with me. I'm fine with Last Airbender because I haven't seen it. -
Just want to second the recommendation of Final Girls. I'm not done with it because Mario Odyssey came out the same day and is amazing. But I agree fully with your hot take so far.

It's very good. There's a surprising amount of depth and emotional weight to the show. I don't think it's essential viewing but it's worth checking out for sure. -

Also, watch Veronica Mars and Frozen which is where I first found it she can sing. She also shows up as a guest star in a ton of great shows like Parks And Recreation and Party Down. -

I love when they give her a variation on Janet on The Good Place. She's getting to show off so much comedic range.

I paid to see this in theatres and ran the entire series by renting the VHS tapes the week before. This is the first time I've seen the movie since then and it is terrible. At the time, I really liked it.

Someone mentions that Jason was sentenced to the death penalty and electrocuted, shot by firing squad and hanged. First, I would have loved to see that trial with Jason in the courtroom. Jason kills predominantly in New Jersey where Camp Crystal Lake is located and in New York for Jason Takes Manhattan. Neither of those states have the death penalty. I don't know if someone can be tried in another state and receive the death penalty for crimes in the original state. It's possible Jason killed elsewhere though. I was curious about state's methods of execution. As far as I can tell, lethal injection is the primary method of execution for every state with the death penalty. If lethal injection isn't used, and the reasoning for why it might not be used, varies state to state, I believe they all have a backup method. But no state currently has electric chair, firing squad and hanging. Several states have one of the methods as a backup. Only two states, Mississippi and Oklahoma, have electric chair, firing squad and gas chamber as backups though. Hanging is only a backup method in Delaware, New Hampshire and Washington. I think Paul pronounced the review name TechnoMachinima1996 correctly. I wouldn't pronounce it "machina" as Rob Huebel suggests.

It's probably really easy if you're using the sense of taste.

Sorry but when it comes to oatmeal raisin cookies
-
First of all, I'm not eating any coleslaw. It's worse than raisins. Secondly, raisins go in oatmeal cookies and nowhere else.
-
What color were the raisins? Wasn't that one of the things apologists claimed made a difference between stupid and unbelievably stupid?

I don't have an inherent problem with rhyming a word with itself. It depends on the context and the lyrics and a bunch of stuff. I think we can all agree the quoted Finger Eleven lyrics are trash.
-
I think there's a big difference between the quoted lyrics from Hamilton and whoever Finger Eleven is. Miranda is really rhyming "real a", "milli" and "feel a". Yeah, "second" is in there but it's not like he's just rhymed "real a second" three times.

I don't have a top 10 or anything. But the first one that jumped out and surprised me when scrolling through my music collection was Kate Bush.

Immediately after this scene, he throws sand on the floor and all I could think was about how hard that is to clean up.
