I think the real question is why even put in the information that you can't travel to the future? That doesn't add anything to the movie because the movie is about going to the past to get rich. Traveling to the future isn't relevant to anything. It's unnecessary information that only makes the movie needlessly complex.

So long as we don't start discussing the timeline details of Primer because, woof, my head will explode like Scanners.

I watched the scene again Ron Silver sticks his arm through the chest of the other Ron Silver before their faces melt into each other. This means 2004 Ron Silver's hand and 1994 Ron Silver's coat are the same matter. Timecop's idea of same matter occupying the same space is very, very loose.

Why can't he just raise campaign funds from the general public anyway? If he can't get people to donate money, isn't this a really good indicator that he won't win? I guess that's speaking to his ego who believes he will win if he just gets the television spot(s) but I don't know.

Ron Silver needs $50 million to buy ad time on television. When talking to his lackey in the limo, he says JCVD already cost him that much after JCVD stopped his stock scheme in 1929. He didn't. The stock was $1 per share in 1929 but was $264 1/2 in 2004. If he had 100,000 shares, he only made $26,450,000 minus the initial $100,000 investment for a total of $26,350,000. That's about half of his monetary goal. I'm curious how the time cops even investigate the crimes of time travel. They mention, for example, buying Beverly Hills real estate in 1902. If Bruce McGill wasn't aware of things changing even when an actual time cop tells him he's changed things, how are they aware of someone buying real estate? Isn't that just their past at that point?

I would call in but some creepy guy will call for me with the same alternative title that I posted. It saves me the effort and let's me feel creepy by association. Edit: I don't think the guy stole my alternative title in case it comes across that way.

I agree with everything Cameron and Paul said. I have no problem with the condom ads either. It is Paul's literal job to read them and I want everyone at earwolf to get paid. If Paul started describing his actual sexual experiences in the ads, then is start feeling weird about it. I don't want the hosts to change what they are doing in the show either. If I found out Jason (or June or whomever) actually jerked off to the woman's from Lifeforce, I'd suggest self censoring but I think we all realize they wouldn't do that. I have, as they say, a face for radio and a voice for print.

I definitely think it's just a weird exhibitionist thing but part of me wonders if it's people thinking "Jason Mantzoukas pretends to be a creepy dude and say sexual things. I can do it too because all my friends think I'm hilarious." The difference is 1. Jason is actually funny and 2. I don't know you so your creepy wank stories are just creepy. I'm sure the first time Jason Mantzoukas meets someone, he doesn't lead with the first time he masturbated. Edit: not to say I've got a problem with Jason saying crazy things or want him to change. Just I want people to realize he's able to get away with it; you probably aren't

I just want to also say, in case numbers help stop it, that the calls about to whom someone first masturbated are gross. I thought the first call got played because it was such an outrageous reason to call. A second call makes it no longer outrageous. I can only hope that, should this become a segment, it gets thrown at the end with a big warning so I can turn off the podcast.

Episode 165 - Ninja Terminator: LIVE!
grudlian. replied to JulyDiaz's topic in How Did This Get Made?
Exactly. I'm not a fan of Michelle Rodriguez outside of this franchise, but let her do something, anything. Her filmography is almost entirely action movies. So we know she can do whatever they ask her to do. She's been a part of the franchise since the beginning and she's relegated to maybe 6th member of the team. -

It's been years since I've seen it but did What's Up Tiger Lily include the original credits? I seem to remember the movie ending and then Woody Allen just tells some jokes about it. Granted, Woody Allen was upfront about "I stole this movie and dubbed it with a new plot" whereas I'm not sure if Godfrey Ho was as open about it. -
On youtube there is a 1:32:26 and a 1:26:56 version of Ninja Terminator. Does anyone know what the difference is or which is the preferred version?
-
I'm basing this on the run time from imdb. It's been a while since I've seen this and I don't remember it being quite that short. Losing 20% of the movie seems like an awful lot to remove for such a short movie.

Death Race 2000 is a pretty good movie. It's still low budget 70s cheese but on the high end of that spectrum. Good enough that I don't think it would really fit this podcast. I'd be wary of a 66 minute version. The full length version is 80 minutes.

The subtitles on Netflix say "quiff" but the subtitles on this seemed especially lazy. There were words that should have been capitalized but weren't. I don't remember any misspellings though.

If you're in Lockhart, I'm going to put Blacks and Smitty's as the barbecue places to go over Kreuz. Kreuz is good but just not my favorite of the three. I'll add the caveat that, the one time I went to Lockhart, I ate a bit at all three places and Kreuz was last. So, maybe I was barbecued out. But thank you for the pronunciation of Kreuz. I was not sure how and definitely not pronouncing it correctly.

Episode 162 - My Stepmother Is An Alien: LIVE!
grudlian. replied to JulyDiaz's topic in How Did This Get Made?
I would assume Hannigan gets put on the poster purely because the movie is called "My Stepmother Is An Alien" If you leave her off, it looks like Kim Basinger is Jon Lovitz's and Dan Aykroyd's stepmother. -
My favorite talking in the theatre moment was Scream 3. I don't think he was heckling just really into the movie. He kept yelling stereotypical horror reactions like "DON'T GO IN THERE!" It made a bad movie semi-enjoyable.

I'm only part way through this but I'm very glad Jason and Paul admitted up front that they cried during this. I'm ashamed to admit that I also got kind of teary eyed for this.

Episode 156 - xXx: Return of Xander Cage: LIVE!
grudlian. replied to JulyDiaz's topic in How Did This Get Made?
Guess I need to work on my reading comprehension skills more. I guess I saw the 25 years for Hermione Corfield and Ariana Arevalo and thought, "Yeah, those women are around 25 I guess." So, now I'm just realizing these women are all half Vin Diesel's age or less. Ugh. It makes me wonder, since it appears Vin had a lot of say so in the rest of the production, how much he had with picking his many love interests in the rest of the movie. -
Episode 156 - xXx: Return of Xander Cage: LIVE!

With all the talk of everyone's extremely limited skills, I thought of the xXx team as being similar to the GI Joe toys. After the first couple years, each character became increasingly specific with their abilities and how that translated to the battlefield. There was even a figure named Dee Jay who was a literal DJ. Just throwing it out there that Deepika Padukone is 31 not 19. Vin is 49. So, a huge age difference but it seems practically acceptable considering the next oldest woman was 25.
