I don't mind that they likely don't read this section of the forum because I like discussing bad movies with you all. -
I think the odds of this movie making it past the script stage are 20:1 and of making it to theaters are 100:1

I had a mega brain fart moment. It was like when you can't recall your mom's name or your own phone number and it was just as maddening. South Park kept coming to mind, but I couldn't remember what they were parodying. -
I've said before and I'll say it again I hope it's not just 4 white people just mocking this movie. I want to know his appeal and whitey just ain't gonna get to the bottom of that!! (although, Neal Brennan would probably be able to provide a little bit of insight.)

So I saw this movie for the first time probably a year ago. I don't think that it quite holds up and it requires a lot of things to go right but it's not a bad movie. More than anything this movie was at the beginning of the twist ending craze of the 2000s and as such I don't think it's quite fair to judge it by what has been built upon since.

I admit that my 2nd post probably came off harsher than I had intended, but alas that's the internet where there is no tonal inflection. However, when someone goes to personal insults I just grab the popcorn and let them go.

Damnit what movie is this from? I know I've seen it and it's driving me nuts trying to figure it out. -
Saying that Fincher deserves scorn for this film is a pretty bold and presumptive statement. And I could have easily put the 10 hour version of Hitler saying "Nein" but the 4 second version seemed much more appropriate.

Yes, people coming in and just assuming that everyone is going to be on their side of disliking a relatively well received movie always hits a sore spot.

Oh man. I keep catching parts of it on FX too and I think if you had pitched a movie to me that puts Capt Kirk up against Bane I'd be like "FUCK YES!!!" and then if you were to tell me they were fighting over Reese Witherspoon I would be like "oh, nevermind"

I wonder if it's one of those things like where some someone tries to retell a funny joke and they get all of the words in it right, but their telling of it is just not funny for some reason.

The thing that I remember most is how unimpressed each brother is to discover that he has a previously unknown twin. They act as if they're just meeting some random asshole that they must begrudgingly accept throughout the whole thing

Oh man, the French version is up on vimeo. I feel compelled to watch it to see how it compares.

It just expired from Netflix, but if you have Epix I think it will still be available on their platform for a while. I actually watched it via Epix instead of Netflix so that there was no possibility that any of my friends would know that I watched it.

If by "scrappy underdog" you mean "highly polished with thousands of dollars in visual equipment" then yes. That was the "local unsigned band" equivalent to "I'm just going to quickly program this computer virus for an alien space ship, but I'll also design a graphical user interface while I'm at it too"
